Winter 2022/2023 Backlog Challenge (signups open until December 31)

Anyway, for my update... zero trophy progress. Dark Cloud 2's trophies get harder to earn as we get along and until I clear EVERY medal challenge in Moonflower Palace, which includes quite a few "Items only" challenges, I am not clearing Chapter 7, because once that chapter's done and dusted and we enter the final chapter, Moonflower Palace and all its medal challenges are GONE FOREVER, so I have o earn every medal in that place. On the plus side, I cleared all of the Spheda and time trial challenges in that place(Ridepod with Jet Hover is incredibly fast and the only flubs I made were hitting the ball too far or into cracks in the stairs so I redid them and got good RNG for the ball and hole placements), so I just have to finish all of the miscellaneous challenges... which have no less than three "Items Only" challenges, which are tough because the enemies in Moonflower Palace eat Final Bombs for breakfast, so I have to get creative.

 

(To be honestly fair, Moonflower is going to prep me for the dreaded Items Only challenges in the final dungeon, the Zelmite Mines, which have enemies that are the strongest in the game - the mini-bosses can one-shot Steve even with all his defense and HP and he's not getting any more such upgrades. I saw a video saying you need to spam Stone Berries and Poison Apples to make most enemies weak to one-shotting there, and one video warned about the Pirate Eyes, which are cannons that fire bombs and, if they explode and damage enemies, you've voided that challenge because the enemies didn't die from an item attack. )

 

I am sure, with my new obsession with randomizers, I will not be getting this game completed before Christmas Day or even New Year's Eve. However, I will try to spend as much time as possible each day to hammer away at the challenges until every Spheda Challenge, every fishing challenge*, and everything else. I am working through the "Monster Transformation only" challenges in Balance Valley as my Gemron has evolved to its second form(it took me 20 runs of the first level of Moonflower Palace to get enough EXP for the monster transformatiion) so it can one and two-shot the enemies in that place. After that, it's more runs of Ancient Wind to get enough ABS to level up my weapons to get the weapons for the two trophies requiring specific weapons to be upgraded. Christmas Eve is gonna interfere because of gift-giving, feasting and of course, going to church, but I should be able to get some of the trophies knocked out this week.

 

* And yes, I have to fish too because I need to recruit Olivie in order to get the "recruit everyone" trophy and the only way I can do that is by winning the Beginner class of Finny Frenzy. I tried to do it with a second-generation bred fish(the horse fish with a Bon) but it didn't even place so I assume I need much more power to win even the lowest rank of this dang fish race. )

In other news I have started going through Yakuza 0. Haven't gotten too far but have been working on a lot of the substories. I still think Yakuza 0 is one of my favorite games of all time.

After three weeks, I’ve completed three games from my backlog - which may be a personal best? I found Stray to be as enjoyable as critics, players, and award-givers have been lauding since its release. The PS5 version is gorgeous and the trophy list was mostly fair. My only complaint is that I wish the adventure was a bit longer; I’ll miss exploring the world’s safest city... With the holidays upon us, my trophy hunting will come to a halt for the next week. I’ll be back with new additions to the backlog/ challenge before the new year. To all my fellow challengers, happy holidays! May this week be filled with great food, gatherings, and games!

this is my progress from yesterday with devil may cry 5 from 36% to 39% i unlocked some missable trophies it actually worked with obedience training that sure was though trophie but when exactly should i play the vergil character since i got the playable character when everithing is done all the difficult game modes are done and when bloody palace mode also done ?

So, not much to report. I managed to get two trophies, one for catching the Baron Garayan and a minor one for recruiting every major character in Palm Brinks. I forgot about Fabio and his Nonky obsession. Thankfully, my second Nonky was the right size. Then I just had to play hide and seek to get the last person onto the train.

 

THerefore all that's left is to get a monster transform up to Level 76 to evolve it fully, get the ultimate weapons(I already built up to Supernova and Five-Star Armlet, I just need to get the melee weapons - Supernova came from the Jurak Gun you get for completing 100% of the Georama in Sindain, and Island King will come from the Holy Daedulus Blade that you get for getting 100% of the Georama in Heim Rada), complete the rest of the story(just two more chapters) and get every medal(which requires getting every medal challenge in Moon Flower Palace, I did all of the time attack and Spheda challenges in that place, all I need to do is all of the miscellaneous stuff).

 

Oh, and invent a few more items but they all need scoops that are only from the Chapter 7 boss(Legend of the Moon, a missable scoop) and the Chapter 8 mini-boss (ol' Chuckles the Clown's face is needed for two more Ridepod parts inventions).

Time for another update! Worked on Celeste and literally only have 1 trophy left and it is killing me - that PICO-8 trophy. For some reason, it is a nightmare for me. So - I took a break and knocked out Goosebumps: The Game. Nothing needs to be said about it except that it is now out of my backlog and that it did not take long at all. That's it.

Yeah, I understand the pain. PICO-8 is the only trophy you can't cheese with assist mode. Took me half an hour to get through every level.

 

I'm glad you enjoyed Enigmatis, probably the easiest of the early Artifex Mundi titles(I've played the Nightmares from the Deep trilogy and the Mahjong puzzles were no fun).

Did you get the tentacles on the the train and both versions of pool shark (swimming and out of water flopping)?

Ugh, Death by Disco is such an annoying trophy to miss because some of the enemies are missable. Keep at it.

 

As for myself, I'm still on the pause menu in Dark Cloud 2. I need to unpause and get back to work on clearing all the Moon Flower Palace challenges so I can beat (spoiler) and get to Chapter 8.

Yeah those are the ones I thought I missed the first time but it's very possible I just missed one of the dance animations. I'll play through it again eventually it's not like the game is hard or long its just kind of annoying that it'll be my 4th time playing through. Oh well it's my own fault!

I made a good start to this week but then I worked 3 double shifts in a row lol. I got quite far in Nom Nom Galaxy, a bit miffed that some of the multiplayer trophies can't be obtained using local multiplayer so I'm going to have to play a dummy account on my Ps4 to get these. Slay the Spire has been fun. Had some very satisfying runs but not much in the way of trophies.

This week I'll continue to play but I think I'll be busy with Christmas so I can't say I'll achieve much. Have a lovely one guys

No change as I made the ending saves after I knighted all the girls but hadn't done any level grinding before hand. (My avarice blinded me to this fact. I just wanted the Silver Trophies).

Once I figured out that I didn't need 100% proficiency with each piece of equipment to get the Blacksmithing Expert trophy I powered through the sales trophies. Now on to the post game content.

Progress has been somewhat slow as I realised that as a temp contractor I don't get annual leave to take time off during the office shutdown, so I've had to put in extra time at work.

 

Criminal Girls: Invite Only - Vita - 47% -> 56% -> 59%

After I blindly saved over an important slot, I've had to start again to get the final main girl's wish and ending. Thankfully, I can just skip all the dialogue. The "Motivation" sections however, require I don't play it in public.

 

Gotham Knights - PS5 - 23%

I was going to add The Caligula Effect: Overdose to the list but decided to go with Gotham Knights just to get it done and dusted and then I might feel.. refreshed enough to tackle another JRPG.

 

Death End re;Quest - PS4 - 17% -> 18%

God of War - Vita - 10%

Day of the Tentacle - Vita - 4%

 

COMPLETED

 Blacksmith of the Sand Kingdom - PS5 - 27% -> 35% -> 85% -> 

One in the Vault. Quite an enjoyable game with a surprisingly good mix of RPG elements and Shop Simulator. I also like that even at max level, victory isn't assured. You have to make sure you have the right mix of classes and the best equipment so you can to pull out a win against the bosses. 

Highly recommend you have a Thief in your party cause you will need to steal off everything including the bosses at least once for one of the trophies.

Update #3

12/21/22

 

What's up, my fellow seasonal masochists! I'm still not quite as far along as many of you are getting, but I feel I'm on the verge of making a huge crack... mainly because GTA IV is SO. DAMN. CLOSE!!

 

The speed run remains for the base game, and as predicted I don't mind that I'll essentially have to play through the whole thing twice. Those Gay Tony missions have got some pretty ridiculous requirements for 100% though, and while I love the DLC it has certainly begun to try my patience! All missions are over 80% with about half completed altogether, so I'm reeeaaally hoping to crank this thing out by the week's end.

 

God of War is down to its own speed run, which after GTA IV, will feel like a joke at less than five measly hours. Turns out the Challenge of the Gods, while challenging, was nowhere near as terrible as I'd anticipated. Once all the above is finished, my reward will be God of War II - which I almost jumped right into but fought the temptation.

 

With as busy as December has already been for me, I know I'm asking a lot of myself for its final week, but I choose to be optimistic! Wishing everybody a fun, festive, and safe rest of the month, and a shout to @cstanci, hope you feel better sooner than later?

Well, I'm getting to the home stretch and may have worried too much about not getting this done before Christmas. I've completed all of the time attack, spheda, and weapon-based challenges in every dungeon. Sure, I still have a bunch of challenges in older dungeons and the Monster Transformation and Items Only challenges in Moon Flower Palace, but those are the only challenges left to do before Moon Flower Palace is 100% and I can fight (redacted) and move on to Chapter 8. I earned two more trophies, the ones for getting Monica and Max their ultimate weapons. The LEGEND was the last weapon I got to. Yeah, their stats suck but I plan on just using proejectiles(gun and armlet) on (redacted) anyways so the Island King and LEGEND are less important. Once I get into Chapter 8 and can buy as many Diamonds as I want, I can just spam those to get those melee weapons to max level.

 

And yes, I know the Zelmite Mines exist and are even worse than Moon Flower Palace. But at least I will have all the medals from Moon Flower Palace so I can let it disappear. (Oh yeah, the future areas are also gone in Chapter 8 but the stuff they sell is transferred to other people and I already got all of the tiny chests from those areas anyways.

 

So the only trophies I have left to earn are the following:

• Complete Chapter 7
• Complete Chapter 8
• Win Finny Frenzy Master Class(the fish I am breeding over and over again has gotten all stats but strength - which only affects pushing fish out of the way and will be useless for a racer that outpaces everyone - to 25 or higher so it won't be long before I can enter it and sweep the competition)
• Invent every item(I just need one more scoop on the final boss of Chapter 7 and the mid-boss of Chapter 8 to get the scoops I need for the final items I need to invent)
• And finally, get all of the medals. This will probably be the last trophy I earn, like the last time.

Wish me luck! I will probably give brief snippets of what I am doing until I get the platinum.

Actually, to be honest, I have no idea. I will probably add another of the games I did for KYC 2022 at least since they are all RPGs and therefore take a while.

Good god what were they thinking with the endings. I have 3/5 now but I should have gotten the 4th last night; I think I messed up getting my skateboard score too high while having the correct level of friendship between the character I was trying to kill off. I will try replaying from episode 5 chapter 4 again tonight but if I miss it again, I'm done for the rest of 2022 and I'll swap this piece of hot garbage for something else in the new year and add a few more games to my list. My new year's resolution is to respect my time more so I'm not wasting it on games that have bullshit trophies like this so I can have more time to play stuff I actually want to spend time on.

next year i play the other games but with ultra rare trophies this i unlocked 2 platinum trophie diablo reaper of souls+dlc and persona 5 royal next year i do the hard games started and finished story mode of 1 hard game from devil may cry 5 i going to play next year wolfenstein2 werewolf the apocalyps earthblood 11% crash team racing 1% and crash bandicoot 4 its about time and maybe i start with dragon age inquisition so those are hard games i did at first ezpz and normal easy games like dbz kakarot marvel spiderman and marvel spiderman miles morales persona 5 strikers that was long game so those are my platinum trophies i have earned so far

Brief updato before Christmas Eve. I've gotten almost all of the medals in Moon Flower Palace. I still have two Item Only challenges and a Monster Transformation challenge but the enemies in these final levels are such HP sponges that they don't die to a single Final Bomb and take only 18 damage from my Ice Gemron. So it looks like I have to grind up Gemron to Level 51 to evolve it to Thunder Gemron to avoid running out of stamina from the giant knights and figure out a better method for items. (I heard that the Headbuster attack from the Bomber Head transformation counts as an item but I dunno. I do know that that attack doesn't count as a kill from Monster Transformation.)

 

EDIT: Tested it and I got the Item Only medal when I used nothing but Bomber Head's Headbuster attack. Seems that attack is coded to be a reusable Premium Bomb so the game assumes I used a Premium Bomb(the damage was 336, about the same damage as a Premium Bomb) so that means that my healing items add more bombs to my inventory(because you drop to 10 HP after using Headbuster and can't spam it because you can only use that attack when at full health). ?
