Platinum #182: Resistance 3
Resistance 3 is rather forgotten now. For what it’s worth, Insomniac Games did a fine job with it, being a stark contrast to their goofy, whimsical Ratchet and Clank series.
I never played the first two games, so a portion of the main story flew by me. In short, an asteroid that struck Siberia in 1908 contained the Chimera virus, a vicious organism that turns humans into monsters. It invades America in a alternate 1950s timeline. It falls to one man to save humanity and stop the Chimerian threat.
Resistance 3 is a rather standard first person shooter. It doesn’t do a whole lot that other games did before.
Controls are easy to adjust to. Most weapons have an alt fire which is usually a more powerful attack. I found the Chimerian weapons to be more effective than the human weapons.
The best thing about this game is the cutscenes. Some of the absolute best cutscenes on the PS3 are on this game. In a way they almost rival that of Uncharted 2 and God of War 3.
I found this game moderately good. It doesn’t do anything outstanding, and it looks like Insomniac Games has dropped this series for good. Which is a bit of a shame really.

Cool. You know this is the game that came bundled with my PS3 when I bought it back in 2011. Never played it because FPS make me queasy and I'm no good at them. About your comments, I find that sometimes it is nice to play a game that does what it sets out to do right even though it is not groundbreaking.
