JRPGs - Final Fantasy 6 (best of the series IMO), Chrono Trigger, Persona (beaten all the main entries and some of the spinoffs - super excited for 5), also recently got into the Atelier series with Ayesha and really like it (waiting for the Arland+ trilogy to go on sale)

Platformers - Super Meat Boy (I have played far too much of this game between PC and the recent PS4/vita port. Have 106% completion and casually working on getting my Any% speedrun down to sub 30 min.)

Shooters - I don't play many of these anymore, but SpecOps: The Line was fantastic

Action - I'll put Metal Gear Solid here. Love the series, MGS1 is probably my favorite if I had to pick. If I had my way, more games would be like MGS1 in terms of game length and pacing.

MMO - I've played a bunch over the years, but FFXIV probably goes down as my favorite.

RTS - Starcraft (loved the campaigns, never really got into the multiplayer)

Adventure - Pretty much all the old LucasArts games. Monkey Island was my jam growing up. Wish I had known about the tank controls trophy for Grim Fandango when I played through it (>.<) Looking forward to Day of the Tentacle rerelease.

Probably a ton more to list, but I'll leave it with this for now.

  1. Things have been crazy this month with a lot of travel for work, but I 100% completed Level 22 which takes place in a city environment for the Gold trophy for the month. Stats before the event: Platinum trophies: 31 100% completed: 8 Completion: 31.28% Stat changes during the event: Platinum trophies: +12 100% completed: +7 Completion: +4.91%
  2. #44 - htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary Difficulty: 5/10 Enjoyment: 4/10 The game itself was actually a pretty bad experience. It was a classic example of how artificial difficulty can ruin a game. The plot was interesting, the art was good, and the puzzles were fine, but the gameplay made everything a horrible slog and far more frustrating than it had any right to be. I easily would have rated this an 8/10 if the controls weren't terrible or if the actual puzzles didn't require frustrating levels of precision, but having to constantly replay the same sections of the game over and over again with slow movement and imprecise touch controls really ruined it for me. The platinum also has a few very frustrating trophies that require lengthy backtracking between attempts, but actually pulling them off isn't that difficult. Luckily I got this in a bundle with Yomawari and that game has been quite good so far, so it's not a total loss I guess.
  3. Hey all, I beat htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary earlier this month for the platinum trophy. Without going too much into it for potential spoilers, this game certainly features advanced technology in a near future setting, so I think it qualifies for the HC requirement as well. The game itself was actually a pretty bad experience to be completely honest. It was a classic example of how artificial difficulty can ruin a game. The plot was interesting, the art was good, and the puzzles were fine, but the gameplay made everything a horrible slog and far more frustrating than it had any right to be. I mean I guess I'm glad I played all the way through for the interesting story, but it's really hard to recommend. Here is the trophy image along with my updated stats. Stat changes during the event: Platinum trophies: +13 100% completed: +6 Completion: +5.07%
  4. Thanks! I'll probably work on Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty! for the rest of the month since it keeps with the theme. Controls will take some getting used to, but I think it could be fun. Only real problem is that things will be very busy for me, so there's a good chance it wont be finished this month (hence, submitting Spy Chameleon in the meantime). Yeah, it seems like it was a little known indie on 360, and one of (maybe the only) devs decided to reboot it as a collaboration project. He calls it a sequel though, so I'm going to count it unless someone wants to dispute it.
  5. #43 - Spy Chameleon (such a sad platinum image) Difficulty: 4/10 Enjoyment: 6/10 The game mechanics have some potential, and most levels are pretty fun to play through, but some of the level design is just very frustrating in terms of precision. Combine this with having to beat each level 3 times on average (2 times minimum) to complete all the objectives for the trophies/plat and it kind of sucks the fun out of it. If it had just been the 75 levels with one playthrough each, I would have rated it higher, but with the 3 replays it just becomes a bit of a slog. There were also a few bugs on Vita that could cause you to lose your most recent checkpoint, which could be a pain, but all the trophies popped just fine. That said, it was a fairly quick and easy platinum that kept me entertained enough throughout, but I wish they had executed the concept a little better. Not much else to say about this one.
  6. Hey all, been busy with work and haven't had much time for trophy hunting, but I did knock out the platinum for Spy Chameleon: RGB Agent today. I think this could count as part of a series because it's actually the sequel to an Xbox 360 indie title just called Spy Chameleon. There are also a couple of hints at a Spy Chameleon: RGB Agent 2 in the game, but I don't think anything has been officially announced. If this doesn't count, let me know and I'll find something else to put in there. Here's the (sadly lazy) platinum thumbnail if it does count though. Stat changes during the event: Platinum trophies: +12 100% completed: +6 Completion: +4.96%
  7. Having trouble finding info on Deemo.  Does anyone know if it's any different than the $2 version I can get on my phone besides the animated cutscenes?

  8. Thanks for the reminder! I'll go with the same suggestion I gave last time which was "Games with awesome soundtracks." Obviously a very broad theme and subject to personal taste, but I think a hardcore requirement could be something like "The audio must factor heavily into the gameplay. Ex. Crypt of the Necrodancer." I'll give a proper update later in the month when I have more time and have a final tally, but for now I can say that I've finished the 100% for Type:Rider which I think other people have also used for the gold trophy.
  9. Things have been too busy between work, travel, and Persona 5 to trophy hunt much, so I'm going to burn a skip and claim Actual Sunlight as my 100% for the month. Hopefully things slow down a bit soon, so I can get a plat for next month! Stat changes during the event: Platinum trophies: +11 100% completed: +5 Completion: +5.03%
  10. Ohhhhh, really good one this time. Took me a few attempts in the wrong direction before I caught on by pure, blind luck. I'll hold back my answer to give other people a chance, since I'd like someone new to win.
  11. Yeah, sadly it's not the best port. I had it slow down into being near frozen on a number of screen transitions, but turning off Wifi seemed to help with that (maybe it constantly auto-uploads save data?). "T" also didn't pop for me which was annoying, but there's no way I'll waste my time working on the plat, since so many of the trophies are just a pain in the ass to deal with with constant auto-saving.
  12. Finally beat Witcher 2, so now I can dig into the Witcher 3 GotY edition that I got for Xmas.  Also, the last Witcher book comes out (English translation) tomorrow and I'm almost caught up :D

Hope you enjoy Witcher 3. It's one of my favorite games of all time.

  13. It's been about a year since I posted this, and I was surprised to see that my unearned trophies have actually gone down! Sitting at 4659 unearned trophies despite adding probably a couple dozen games over the past year. Guess my attack on the backlog is paying off some!
  14. Finally finished up Tearaway, which has been sitting in my backlog for 3 years, so that should give me the plat trophy for the month. Here is the thumbnail so you don't have to go looking for it. Stat changes during the event: Platinum trophies: +11 100% completed: +4 Completion: +5.09%
  15. #42 Tearaway - I've had this game in my backlog for 3 years.  Finally got around to finishing it.  Gameplay is fine, but the real reason to play it is because it's so damn charming and has phenomenal artwork.
