  1. Platinum #154 - Atelier Ryza 2 (PS4)

So I decided to immediately go for the PS4 stack because I don't see myself wanting to come back to this game and relive it in the future, so I wanted to get it out of the way. Pretty easy the second time around since it lets you bring your save file over from the PS5, so I didn't really have to do that much alchemy or miscellaneous stuff.... just had to play through the story and do the character quests again.

  2. Atelier Ryza 2 - So what I don't understand is how Ryza has such glorious thighs but still manages to have a thigh gap. I was thinking that her booty shorts were impractical because she must suffer from chub rub, but nope.... has a thigh gap.

    1. Infected Elite

      Infected Elite

god dammit 😂 chub rub! hahahaha

Ryza was grown in a lab to make rough and tumble anime boys consider playing an Atelier game. I'm pretty sure she was conceptualized and designed by an AI to strike closest to the center of venn's diagram of internet horny boys with the most money to spend on full priced games.

  3. Platinum #153 - Atelier Ryza 2

I guess it was OK even for being possibly my least favorite Atelier to date. I seem to have a thing for disliking the second game in an Atelier trilogy because I also found Totori and Firis to be subpar (did like Escha+Logy though).

@Yuna4353, I'm doing the PS4 stack of Ryza 2 right now just so I can get it over with. You can transfer over your save but most of the trophies don't autopop.... you actually have to play the entire game again to get the story trophies.

After that, though, I'm thinking Death End Request.

      Congrats on the Platinum!

It's a shame Ryza's epic thicc thighs couldn't save this one from being so-so in the end. Looks like the first one will remain the more enjoyable game in the Ryza series.

  4. Atelier Ryza 2 - Finished up the story and just a couple more trophies to finish up in post-game. Hopefully I don't have to build new equipment for the super boss because I'm getting really tired of taking an entire hour just to build new weapons for my 3 mains.

  5. Walden -- Guide published! Woo hoo! Maybe more people will play it now that it has a guide and @Jens won't have the fastest achiever time anymore :P

Nooo, I need it! My greatest gaming achievement ever 😭

  6. I need to get used to your new username. I keep looking at it going, "Who the eff is this?" 😅

    1. The Arizona Ranger

      The Arizona Ranger

You are not alone in that department, Eigen. There have been a handful of occasions over the past few years here on the PSNP forums where it took me a week or longer to get used to someone changing their username to something different. Thankfully, most of the people I interact with on here over the years have kept using the same username, so outside of those few times I mentioned above, I have not had to adjust my brain regarding "Who is that (looks at unfamiliar username), and why are they on my friend list?" too many times.

To be honest, this was a minor concern that came to mind once I decided to move forward with the name change last Saturday. It ended up worrying me enough to where I decided to post the status update last weekend informing people of the change so there would hopefully be less confusion amongst members of the community when they failed to see my old username/profile pic and instead saw a different name and new profile pic.

I am still open to changing my username back to the previous one (MossyOakRcn42) if it would help. I just wanted to try something new (a new username and a new avatar/profile banner that was not anime-related for once), but now that I think about it while writing this response, I kind of miss my old username (and it hasn't even been a full week yet).

    2. eigen-space

      eigen-space

It's something I'll get used to eventually, and I think most people will too, so no worries on that front. But if you miss your old username, then maybe that's a sign to change back?

I know what you mean about wanting to do some changes though. I've had my Teepo-themed avatar and banner for a while now and have been thinking about changing it. Though I don't believe I'll be changing my username anytime soon.

  7. Atelier Ryza 2 - This game makes it a pain in the ass to synthesize new equipment. At least with armor you can instantly duplicate it so you don't have to re-synthesize once you've crafted the perfect armor, but weapons are unique so you have to do it for everyone. Well, not everyone... just the people you use in your party...

    1. Jens

      Jens

That does sound rather convenient though, especially for a JRPG :o

It's just an option they give you, no sneaky item-duping involved or anything? I wouldn't judge it, it's just surprising :P

    2. eigen-space

      eigen-space

@Jens you have to use "gems" to duplicate items. You get gems by using "gem reduction" on your items. You can get anywhere from 10 to 2000 gems depending on the item.

  8. Atelier Ryza 2 - It seems like the rarest trophy in the game is easily cheesed in the Lamb Roast.

    1. Yuna4353

      Yuna4353

are the ryza games easy to plat i started Ryza 1 and needed to go back to it.

    2. Sun_emperor1

      Sun_emperor1

Still weird that lamb roast was an early patch and not in base game, i know it was the same case in ryza 1, but atelier shallie had its version of the lamb roast in basegame so its not a new concept in the atelier series.

    3. eigen-space

      eigen-space

@Yuna4353, the first one I remember being easy. The guide on here is really comprehensive. Ryza 2 is slightly more difficult but it isn't that bad... just time consuming with the prep work you have to do for equipment and all the numerous character events that you have to sit through.

@Sun_emperor1, I almost forgot about the lamb roast equivalent in Shallie. I only think I used it maybe once or twice. And I certainly wouldn't use the lamb or weasel roast in this game either if it didn't make it so easy to use the fatal drives and the core drives by providing scenarios with max tactics and max cc. I'm just greatful that you don't need the accessories from them for the accessories trophy.

  9. With the help of the amazing @Jens, I was able to finish the Walden guide that I started 3 years ago. I just didn't want to replay it to get some of the finer details ironed out, but Jens was more than willing to give it a go. Submitted for Guide Team review :D

No worries dude, it was fun! I would always do it again in hindsight :P

But yeah, I get why you couldn't bring yourself to playing it a second time all over again. That's probably painful... One platinum run was completely alright though! Having been in the mood for something slow was very advantageous.

  10. Atelier Ryza 2 - This is probably going to be my least favorite Atelier game. Which is a shame because Ryza is so cute with her thicc thighs.

    1. eigen-space

      eigen-space

@AihaLoveleaf, you might like it depending on what other Atelier experience you have played and what you liked about those games. This one has a weird alchemy system, the battle system is overcomplicated (though you get used to it), and there are wayyyyy too many character events.

    2. Honor_Hand

      Honor_Hand

Whoa, not even Ryza's thicc thigs can save this one? O_o

Actually, some Atelier fans have told me that the recent games have sort of lowered their quality with the alchemy and stuff, even though they've added to the fanservice.

    3. eigen-space

      eigen-space

@Honor_Hand, I wouldn't say they've lowered the quality per se, they just try different things each time to keep it fresh. I happen to really dislike what they're doing this time around. The first Ryza wasn't bad at all.

  11. Goddammit. I just got the PS5 version of Just Dance 2021. It saves all your progress between versions but does not autopop any trophies. So I can't get trophies for reaching Levels 5 and 100, trophies for unlocking 1, 5, and 200 skins, trophy for using 10000 mojo in the gift machine.... fml

I'm still going to keep the game and get as many trophies as I can. I'm just super pissed that this is going to tank my completion percentage. I'm really hoping Ubisoft fixes this.

    3. Infected Elite

      Infected Elite

its ubisoft unfortunately. For every 1 or 2 good things tbey do, they do 3 bad. And i do like Ubisoft. Soo take it for what you will.

That does suck though. Im still sort of mad Judgment didnt get a free ps5 upgrade while Yakuza 7 did. Like they EXPECTED fans to rebuy it because they announced a sequel. Im still waiting on a physical sale, but you get my point. Its same issue you have.

    4. Show next comments  15 more
  12. No. In fact, you are locked out of trophies if you go between versions. For example, if you unlock all skins on your PS4 and then move to your PS5, you can't unlock any of the skins related trophies because you have already unlocked all the skins and it doesn't autopop. Other trophies that you will be locked out of are ones related to levels and the gift machine. The only thing that resets between versions are the stickers. I've emailed Ubisoft about this and they said to contact Sony.
  13. Atelier Ryza 2 - First game on the PS5! It looks like they're trying their hardest to make combat AND alchemy over complicated in this game... I guess I'll get used to it. Whatever happened to good old-fashioned turn-based combat?

  14. Platinum #152 - Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4) 18.00% Rarity Difficulty - 6/10, Time Spent - ~70 Hours, Enjoyment 6.5/10 Final Fantasy VII was not my favorite Final Fantasy game growing up. Final Fantasy VII Remake is not my favorite Final Fantasy as an adult. But it is OK. My biggest beef with the game is that it feels far too linear. Even when there are optional fetch quests, the world just feels too small. Perhaps in future installments it won't feel so small... I know the slums of Midgar are meant to feel a little cramped. But the story is just super linear, and at times tedious... like taking 10 minutes to platform your way across the rooftops of the Sector 5 Slums before being able to do anything else. Some of the battles were fun; I found that those against humans and using Cloud's counterstance ability made things super fun. Other characters had some pretty fun attacks too, like Barret's Maximum Fury and Tifa's Chi Trap (sorry Aerith... your attacks were kinda boring). They definitely made the characters likeable, though... except maybe for Barret (aside from his interactions with Marlene, that is). The story also felt more fleshed out than it did in the original, so maybe I'll care more about the fate of the planet and the team more than I did when playing the original. We'll see. As far as the trophies go, it's a grab bag of things. Some of them are completionist things, like getting all enemy skills, some of them are battle expertise, like playing on Hard mode, some of them are collectibles, like getting music discs, some of them are for mini-games, like playing darts. It's a pretty well-rounded trophy list IMO and nothing was too bad. Hard mode does take a little bit of getting used to, but it's actually not a monster if you can manage your MP, and the game gives you plenty of ways to do so. I think Jessie might be Best Girl in this game.... and I'm having a hard time deciding if Biggs or Tseng is the best Pretty Boy.... though all the Turks seem like they should be in a boy band.
  15. Platinum #152 - Final Fantasy VII Remake

This game had its ups and downs. The original Final Fantasy VII was not one of my favorites, so I came in with low expectations. Those expectations were exceeded... but not by much. There were a lot of things to like about this game, but the linearity of it just killed it for me. Still give it a postive rating, but it wasn't my cup of tea.

  16. FF7R - Just finished up my hard mode playthrough. It was a little rough at some points, but honestly it wasn't all that bad. Prayer was plenty enough to get by on for normal fights, and in most boss fights you don't really have to conserve MP anyway because it's usually the last fight of the chapter.

Same experience on my end with MP by the way. I threw them around like it's nothing just because I liked accelerating boss fights and never ran out of MP at crucial times ever. I doubt that chapter 18 will change my mind on that tomorrow :P

  17. FF7R - Just won the Pride and Joy fight on my second attempt. On the first attempt, I wasn't prepared for him to go berserk with that long-range fire bomb attack thing when his health got to about half and died in like 5 seconds after that.

    1. eigen-space

      eigen-space

@enaysoft, I had a Tifa-Cloud-Aerith party and controlled mainly Tifa and Cloud (controlled Aerith only when necessary to fill her ATB quickly). Stayed behind him attacking with the Focus abilities to increase his stagger gauge and then would use Aerith to pummel him with lightning spells until he went down, then used lightning spells to take out his legs. Rinse and repeat with a summon thrown in there and one limit break.

    2. enaysoft

      enaysoft

I never really got on well with Tifa, to me she felt too much like Cloud and having two characters attacking together often they would get hit at the same time by enemy attacks. Aerith is useful because of her magic attacks that can be done from a distance that never miss and Barret is the same, his attacks are basically teleport hits, you can hit any enemy at any range.

And the tactic of cloud being in the middle of the map and Aerith and Barret at either ends. And since all 3 characters were usually full on 3ATB, I would use pray, but often use Cloud's triple strike when he had ATB to spare and everyone was on 9999 health.

Nice to hear other people's tactics though. :)

@Infected Elite, it is so big! I have seen them in cases at Target so I had an idea, but it seems much bigger-- and MUCH heavier than I was expecting-- holding it in my own hands. Fortunately it fits horizontally in my entertainment center.... there was no room for it vertically.

  19. Platinum #151 - Just Dance 2021 4.77% Rarity Difficulty - 7/10, Time Spent - ~60 Hours, Enjoyment 9/10 First time owning a Just Dance game (have played friends' copies on occassion before) and it was super fun! I got this game as a way to make myself get up and move around a little bit each day as a form of exercise. Played for about an hour almost every day since mid-April. I honestly started this thinking I'd never get the platinum because Megastarring 40 of the game's 41 base songs just seemed so out of the range of my capabilities. But I bought myself the season pass to get access to all 600+ songs and went for the grindy trophies while dancing to the season pass's songs, completely ignoring the base game for a long time. I have been keeping a Just Dance Diary here and noticed I was getting a lot of Megstars on songs the first time I would play them. I thought that I was just getting them because they were easy songs, but decided to go back to the base game after finishing the grindy trophies to see if I could manage to get some more of the base game songs. Turns out, I was much better than I thought because I kept getting Megastars on the songs; only a handful had to be tried multiple times to a Megastar on. This was the ultimate "get good" game for me. Some Tips: Use the phone app. It seemed to register moves a lot more accurately than the move sticks, and DEFINITELY more accurately than the camera (the camera was HORRIBLE). Keep dancing until the end of the song. Even if you think you messed up, you might surprise yourself with a good score anyway. Also, playing through the entire song gets you used to the dance moves so even if you didn't score well, it helps build your muscle memory for next time. The only reason why this got a 9/10 instead of 10/10 is because sometimes regardless of what motion you're doing, the game will never score your move as a "Perfect" move. Even some motions that seem super easy and shouldn't be that hard to get a "Perfect" on routinely get scored as just "OK", which is infuriating. I might even try to platinum this again once I get my PS5 just to keep my skills fresh for when Just Dance 2022 comes out with BTS's Dynamite 😂
  20. Platinum #151 - Just Dance 2021

I was going to save this for tomorrow, but why put off for tomorrow what you can do today? I never thought I would be able to get this platinum because it seemed impossible to get Megastars on a large majority of the base game songs, but I wanted something that would get me up and moving for a little bit of exercise each day. Little did I know that I was "getting good" every time I played, and then the Megastars became trivial once I went back to them. Adds another ultra rare platinum to my pile too :P

  22. FF7R - Hard Mode Progress.... didn't get to play too much today, but I was able to finish up Chapter 10 and get fully through 11 and 12. Ghoul in Chapter 11 gave me problems because I was trying to conserve MP for the Eligor fight, but once I decided that I'd just use a substantial amount of MP, Ghoul went down... and Eligor was a pushover. Reno and Rude in Chapter 12 were relatively easy... easier than the fight up the tower, that's for sure.

    1. enaysoft

      enaysoft

Well as long as you are prepared. That part is also bullshit in that the checkpoint starts the boss immediately, so if you happen to want to change your materia around, you have to do that setupi EACH TIME you die, and of course the aforementioned checkpoint means you have to do all the bosses before as well if you want to back and level up materia/weapons/lvls etc.

I had to get to that boss 3 times in total in order to finally commit to beating it. There's also a skill (I forget where) that allows one character to revive once. That skill is useful in general.

    2. eigen-space

      eigen-space

@enaysoft, yeah, my characters all have that reprieve skill from their weapons on. Does that work with the instakill attacks as well? Seems super useful in that case.

    3. enaysoft

      enaysoft

I only had Aerith with that skill on, but yes it is useful anytime, you never know when you might get your whole party insta killed. That does give you another 20 seconds to try and keep attacking the boss before it does its instakill attack.

It's handy with Aerith as equipping both Magic Up Materia, it also increases her atk up as well since she has magic attacks.

The only real hard part of that battle is just making sure you have any attack power with both characters in order to kill the boss before it dies, so making sure Barret's limit break is powered up, both characters 3ATB (Don't waste time on Aerith's Limit break)

Well anyway, I recommend watching some movies on the final minutes of that battle, you'll no doubt find it useful.

  23. FF7R - Hard Mode Progress... just beat Hellhouse after my 4th or 5th attempt. Would have had him one attempt sooner had Cloud's limit break not missed the enemy entirely 🙃 This was the hardest boss for me in the first playthrough, so I'm hoping it'll hold true for the hard playthrough as well (though I haven't done the Pride & Joy fight yet).

    1. Doomed_Gary

      Doomed_Gary

Every boss in FF7R has a weakness and it has nothing to do with elements. They all have mechanical hiccups that you can exploit to ruin their day. A few of them hide them better than others, but if you find that weak point: hit hit hit!

Nicely done. I ended up liking combat in FF7R less after my HM run. It made me realize how many holes and exploits were baked in. Don't get me wrong, I still had fun in HM, but it lowered my overall opinion of the battle system.

  25. FF7R - Started my hard mode playthrough this evening and am part way through Chapter 3. So far it's been easy enough. Haven't had to use my magic much because Prayer has been coming in handy. I wish I had more materia slots though... everyone is so loaded up with HP Up and MP Up materia that there's not room for much else besides the healing materia.

    1. enaysoft

      enaysoft

Using prayer (and with 3 separate prayer materia), I was able to complete about 75% of all the chapters without using a single spell on hard. It's only a select few bosses that gave me trouble. Many bosses can be camped out. You remember that flying horse and cart boss? If you choose cloud or tifa and just keep running around the crate in the middle of the stage where the boss can't hurt you, it will focus its aim entirely on you and then CPU Aerith can just shoot at the boss with her homing attack.

Well at any rate most bosses are pretty simple if you just keep heal spamming.
