  1. Gaming By Numbers Time for a Third!! instance of Gaming By Numbers! You can read all about the first go-around of the event here and the second here though all the information is pretty much copy-and-pasted below. 8/30 - Google Sheets document updated with games completed through 8/29. Tableau Dashboard currently unable to refresh so use the Google Sheets document. Event Categories 1) You can complete a maximum of 10 games that count toward the event, with one unique instance of the numbers 0-9. 2) The number of the game comes from the last digit in the game's "URL ID". Here is an example list: Alice: Madness Returns (PS3) is 0 as its URL ID is 900: https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/900-alice-madness-returns/ My Name is Mayo (PS4) is 1 as its URL ID is 5531: https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/5531-my-name-is-mayo Tales of Xillia (NA) is 2 as its URL ID is 2062: https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/2062-tales-of-xillia Marvel's Spider-Man is 3 as its URL ID is 8143: https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/8143-marvels-spider-man Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is 4 as its URL ID is 8864: https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/8864-sekiro-shadows-die-twice Kingdom Hearts III is 5 as its URL ID is 8675: https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/8675-kingdom-hearts-iii Borderlands (PS4) is 6 as its URL ID is 8956: https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/8956-borderlands Tales of Xillia (EU) is 7 as its URL ID is 2077: https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/2077-tales-of-xillia Heavy Rain (PS4) is 8 as its URL ID is 4398: https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/4398-heavy-rain Heavy Rain (PS3) is 9 as its URL ID is 249: https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/249-heavy-rain Resources Save yourself some time with looking up your games' digits by looking at the Popular Games spreadsheet. This sheet contains the most popular 100 games for each system (PS4 PS3 Vita) based on PSNP's "Popular This Week" ranking (compiled June 18, 2019 and June 14, 2020). Feel free to check out the 2018 Tableau Dashboard and 2019 Tableau Dashboard to see all of the data for the last two events! One of these will be created for 2020 once the event commences and there's enough data to populate the dashboard. Note: I have done my best to provide accurate information for all the games/data listed in the linked documents, but it is each participant's individual responsibility to ensure accuracy for the games they complete, including-- but not limited to-- accuracy of the represented digit, validation that servers are still online/completion is obtainable, correct listing of completed games, etc. Rewards You will get an event badge, designed by me, within a few weeks of the event ending so long as you complete at least 5 numbers. The event badges will be semi-unique as it will get "colored in" based on the games you complete, like a Color-By-Numbers activity! Below is what they look like without any color: And here is this year's "color panel" (some of them are image effects rather than individual colors) so that you can prioritize your games based on your favorite colors. Similar to last year, the spots where these colors go are being kept secret for now Important Dates Sign-up Ends: Midnight, July 15, 2020 Event Starts: 12:00:01 AM, July 1, 2020 Event Ends: Midnight, September 30, 2020 --Timezone is MST --If you sign up after the event start date (but before the sign-up cutoff), I'll count any games completed during the event time frame even if they were completed before you signed up Rules 1) As you could probably tell from the examples, you are allowed to stack games! Different trophy lists have different IDs for different regions, different systems, or even physical versus digital releases! 2) Your game will count so long as you get 100% of the base game between the event start and end dates. If your game has a platinum, this means getting the platinum is necessary, but you do not need to complete any associated DLC. Similarly, for a game that has no platinum, you will only need to complete the base game trophies (example: Little Nightmares has several DLC packs-- only the 13 base game trophies need to be completed). 3) If you got 100% for the base game before the event started, that game cannot be used for the event even if you still have DLC to complete. However, you can use games that you have made progress in before the event started (i.e.-- you do not need to start games from 0% completion). 4) The game's URL ID has to match the number category for it to count for that category. No exceptions! Make sure you are clicking on the correct region/system/version link before playing your game! 5) You do not have to complete your games in any specific order. Game Updates You don't need to submit a list beforehand, or even at all! I will be updating everyone who has signed up for the event in a Google Sheets spreadsheet and Tableau Dashboard on a weekly-ish basis by looking at what games are completed on their profile. However, it's always fun to see what everyone intends to play, so feel free to discuss your gaming plans and progress! Results can be tracked on the Tableau Dashboard or in the Google Sheets Document. Note: As I am updating these games based on what I see on profiles rather than what people post in the forum, whichever game I see first (usually your first completed game) will be recorded in the spreadsheet. Any requests to list a different game in the spreadsheet will be refused unless it's due to error on my part-- such as listing a game you didn't actually complete, etc; this makes my life easier as this event tend to get quite a lot of people signing up. Happy Gaming!
  2. PS+ Predictions Contest (2020) Welcome everyone to a forum game where your PS+ Game Predictions can actually win you something! As you may have guessed by the title, @DaivRules and I will be giving away prizes to users who have accumulated the most Prediction Points throughout the year. Each month, Sony releases approximately 2 games through PS+ for free! Users can name their 2 predictions for games up until Sony announces them in their blog. You will get points under the following conditions: 5 Points for guessing the Exact Game 3 Points for guessing a game made by the same Developer 2 Points for guessing a game published by the same Publisher 1 Point for guessing the same Genre FAQ Who gets prizes? The 3 participants with the most points during January 2020 - December 2020 will be receiving prizes (TBD). We may also add in "Wild Card" prizes, which would be handled as a drawing. Note that this post is open for December 2019 predictions as a test run, but these points will not carry over to the 2020 contest. Which regions will this be covering? We will be looking at both the NA and EU blogs to determine the games. If there are different games between the two, any of the games will count. If a different region happens to release your game, you will be able to obtain only the +5 points for the exact game if you make us aware of the match. How long do I have to post my entries? You will be able to post your predictions for the upcoming month until Sony releases their blog post detailing which games are being offered. The event runners reserve the right to announce an early submission closure for any month due to leaks, so be sure to get your predictions in early each month! How are Genre, Publisher, and Developer determined? We will be going off of the information displayed here on PSNP. For example, Borderlands 3's genre is Shooter, developer is Gearbox Software, and Publisher is 2K Games. If the game has more than one listed for genre, developer, or publisher, you'll get credit if you have a partial match. In cases where PSNP does not have these elements listed, the event runners will research the games and make their determination. Do points stack? No, points do not stack. You will get the highest point value for each game that you guess. For example, despite that Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2 are the same Genre, Publisher, and Developer, you would only get 3 points (rather than 6) if you guessed FFXIII when FFXIII-2 was the true release. The most points you can obtain in a single month is 10 if you predict two correct titles. Can I change my predictions? Please try not to change your predictions to save the event runners' sanity when keeping track of games. However, if you do decide to change your mind, make sure to do so before the blog post is announced. We will accept the most recent prediction. We will also check edit timestamps of posts to make sure they weren't changed after the blog release. Do I have to have PS+ to Participate? Nope! You just have to be a PSNP member with 25+ posts. Other Notes --If you make more than two guesses, none of them will be tracked. --If you don't guess a specific title, it doesn't count (ex-- saying "I'm guessing it'll be a shooter" doesn't count for anything). --If the event runners can't discern which title you're talking about, the event runners will not be held responsible if we pick the "incorrect" game (ex-- if you say Tomb Raider when what you really mean is Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition or if you say Doom, of which there are 2 distinctly different games called Doom). Best of Luck! Gotta love those teachers that still give you a bad grade despite having the right answer just because you didn't follow the same exact methodology they wanted you to. I remember having a couple of those back in the day. I also remember they were a pain in my butt, to put it nicely. 😅

  4. @MarkusT1992, please put me on inactive. I haven't played any games in a couple months and probably won't be playing much the rest of the year, if at all, due to grad school.
  5. Yeah, this one is a Lenovo, but it doesn't have an external battery I can replace myself. And the last time I opened up a laptop, it literally caught on fire.... so I'm leaving it to the professionals this time 😂. The last time they updated me, they said the motherboard looked OK and they're pretty sure it's just that internal battery. If you're saying it's really easy to replace, I'm not sure why they've had it in the shop almost an entire week 🙄
  6. Yeah, two years ago my laptop died during an event. This is the laptop I bought to replace that one, and something is wrong with the battery (and it's not an external battery that can just be replaced). With any luck, it'll be repaired sometime next week.
  7. Hey All! I'm going to extend this event until the end of the month. My laptop is being repaired right now and it sucks to make updates to the tracking spreadsheet on my phone... and I don't think it's fair to end the event when people can't accurately see where they're at. So, here's an extra two weeks!
  8. Plat Race of the Maidens 2020 Welcome to an event that celebrates our female gamers and games with strong female leads! Feel free to join by either messaging me directly or posting here on the topic. Event Details Event will run from June 1, 2020 until December 31, 2020 Participant sign ups end at 10 Participants or on May 31, 2020-- whichever comes first No cheating! First, Second, and Third place will receive unique badges and all other participants will recieve a participation badge!
  9. @MarkusT1992, I didn't Plat or finish the story of any game in August. I did play a little bit of Time & Eternity which fit the theme as you travel back in time to prevent one of the main characters from getting murdered.
  10. So, despite that I'm an individual with 10ish years of data analytics experience, I applied for a data science internship with Disney (because the only qualification needed is that you're in school, and I'm in grad school).

Despite that I have several really good job opportunities elsewhere that I'm interviewing for, I think I'll put Disney at the top of my list.

  11. Hey All! I'll be on the forums less and gaming less for the unforeseeable furture. Family responsibilities, full time job that's requiring overtime regularly, job hunting/ filling out resumes, and recently starting grad school.
I'll still be doing all the admin work for the events that I'm running, but that's about it.

Didn't want to disappear and leave people wondering what had happened!

  15. Time and Eternity - Finished the first chapter. This game certainly isn't as bad as the 42 metacritic score would lead one to believe. Definitely not the best JRPG, but it's not terrible either.

    1. Dr_Mayus

It was one of the first RPGs  I played on the PS3...it definitely isn't great but there are a lot worse games out there.

    2. Honor_Hand

      Honor_Hand

Agreed, the game isn't nearly as bad people make it out to be. It's not perfect either, it's actually pretty rough on some edges, especially towards the ending. But I did have a good time with it. Hell, even the music (what little was of it) was fantastic. This guy made that awesome OST possible, and he has worked on some other hit games in the past.

I think Time & Eternity lacked polish and a lot more time in the oven to come out even better. It totally looks like the kind of game that lacks a proper budget. In the end, it was just an okay title for me despite the interesting setup.

@Honor_Hand, one of the first things I noticed was the music! Sometimes I'll just sit in the title menu to listen to that song 😄

  19. Platinum #121 - Donut County (NA) All Done, 75.36% Rarity Difficulty - 1.5/10, Time Spent - ~2.5 Hours , Enjoyment 7/10 In Donut County you play as the raccoon BK delivering "donuts" to citizens of Donut County. Unfortunately what these donut shop customers don't know is that a donut is actual a hole in the ground that will send them and their belongings 999 feet below the city. This game is pretty simple-- you control a hole in the ground and move it around to capture various objects/people/etc from the map, and with each item you dispose of, the larger the hole gets for you to get even bigger items! Aside from a couple parts of the game where you're solving very basic puzzles, this is pretty much all there is to the game. And it is a good amount of fun for the couple hours you'll sink into the game. What's really fun about the game is the dialogue between the characters. The game starts in medias res where BK has found himself sucked down in one of his holes along with various residents that he's sucked down before him. He pretty much is saying what a good job he has done with destroying everyone's lives, and the townspeople refute this-- mostly. Really comical writing in my opinion. The only reason why this game gets a 1.5 difficulty is due to having to fully fill out the "trashopedia", which is an encyclopedia of all the items you've sucked up with your hole. You just have to be thorough with your surroundings to get this trophy, but it's still a bit of a collectible. Also there's a boss fight where you have to take no damage, and that might take a time or two to figure out (or you can watch a video). Now that I'm done with the game, I can't wait for the publisher's webshop to open back up (they closed due to COVID) so that I can order a "Have a Garbage Day" t-shirt (hopefully they're still in stock) and a trash panda pin. Anyway, play this game. It's a good time for a couple hours.
  20. Platinum #121 - Donut County - Had fun with this quick little game... definitely recommend for anyone looking to break up gaming tedium.

I don't think you should focus on distance. It's more important how long your exercise is. Anything under 20 min will not do much good for your overall fitness in long run. For start try to get to 30 min. It's better to do slower pace and longer duration. Don't push yourself, stretch at least 5 min before and after.

  22. Donut County - Having fun with this game, but having even more fun learning that they have some really cute merch to go along with the game. Hopefully their store opens back up soon so I can grab one of those Have A Garbage Day t-shirts and a raccoon-donut pin :D

  24. Platinum #120 - NieR: Automata FInal Words, 31.26% Rarity Difficulty - 4/10, Time Spent - ~36 Hours , Enjoyment 5/10 NieR: Automata has you playing first as android 2B, then android 9S, and then android A2 in a mission to destroy all machines on Earth so that the humans can return there from the moon. I definitely wasn't enamoured with this game like many people are. I thought it was pretty mediocre in most ways. The story was rather non-existant for most of the game... it started ramping up during the second mandatory playthrough and then got marginally decent during the "bonus" chapters after finishing the second playthrough. I honestly thought that I had been playing this game a lot longer than I had because of how ill-paced this game was (though not as bad as some other games I've played). The battle was pretty typical hack-and-slash. About halfway through the game I decided that I didn't really want to play it anymore, so to get it done as quickly as possible, I set the game to the Easy difficulty (no trophies tied to difficulty). You can pretty much sit back and watch the game when you put it on Easy as the game will auto-battle everything for you... enemies will go down and you will very rarely take any damage (let alone have to use any healing items if you have your schema set up to auto-heal). Being that I wasn't totally engrossed with the game, I was one of the people that didn't do the trophies "legit" and instead used the in-game trophy shop that you get after finishing up all the storyline content. The game would have probably taken an additional 15-20 hours if I did everything legit, but I just didn't care enough. I was actually slightly mad that I couldn't pop the platinum with the trophy shop... I still had to finish two endings on my own... one of which makes you play a really stupid bullet hell mini-game that you pretty much can't beat "on your own" (the game gives you help that makes you invincible once you die enough). The game tried to do some interesting things with perspective shifting... changing from 3D to 2D and sometimes having a top-down style game play. I personally found it annoying, and the top-down style gave me motion sickness. The game would also do some things based on the story that made it very difficult to manuvuer your characters (such as getting EMP attacked by robots, which jammed certain types of attacking, jumping, scrambled the visuals, etc).... was very much NOT a fan of those parts of the game and got very frustrated with them. The last thing I'll touch on is the music. It was very annoying to me. Nearly every song had some type of singing in it, but from what I read online, it's a made up language... which sometimes sounds like Japanese, French, or Italian depending on the song. The music was BRILLIANT, but they should have axed the vocals to make it better for gaming... gaming music should blend with the experience, not cause distraction. Overall, it's really hard to say how much I enjoyed this game. There were parts of it that I did like-- such as when the story finally started coming together toward the VERY end of the game, the graphics, the character design-- but then there were other parts that I really didn't enjoy. So I guess the game is a solid Average 5 from me.
  25. Platinum #120 - NieR: Automata - Was not the biggest fan of this game... it got a little better, but still. Also was pretty mad that I could unlock ALL remaining trophies from the in-game trophy store. That Bullet Hell mini-game during the credits SUCKED.

Congrats. Shane you didn't enjoy it so much, it was the last game I had on XB1 and I loved it, one of my top games of this generation.

The struggle is real. I've been reading your updates on this game for a while and know that you weren't enjoying it in the slightest. It's a shame that it didn't live up to expectations. Judging from a few other opinions I've read, this title appears to be one of those that you either love it or hate it. :hmm:

Great job on persevering through and obtaining the Platinum. 👍
