  1. Ok y'all-- need some iconic blade-wielding characters from games. Spears and axes count as blades. Thank you 😊

@Beyondthegrave07, Nintendo would actually be great because I'm not familiar with it anymore.

I'm kind of doing a farce data science article for the swordfighting website I'm writing for The working title is, "Do Swords Make You Look Cool?"

Basically I'm looking at people's Instagram accounts and comparing Likes and Comments on photos where people have swords and do not have swords to see if pictures with swords get more. I've come to the realization that if I just look at the pages of sword practitioners, there's likely a bias because obviously the sword community would be interested in swords. I thought one good control group would be cosplayers because there's a good chance cosplayers have multiple costumes, some which have swords and some which do not, and that people looking at these Instagram accounts aren't following them specifically for sword content.

Tldr; writing an article about how cool swords are and need to look up cosplayers

    4. Beyondthegrave07

Ohhh, well. Let me cover you on Nintendo @eigen-space , or at least, Fire Emblem. xD I'm sure some of them are cosplayed quite often.

  2. Felt like I should start a post about the cross-console trophy bugs that I've encountered. When you play on one console and move over to another console, all your progress is transfered with you (except for stickers, they are reset). However, trophies do not autopop for things you have already completed. The trophies I know for sure are bugged are: We spared no expense... - Spend 10,000 mojo in the gift machine - This trophy has issues if you already unlocked all rewards from the gift machine on your first console. The only gift machine items available for purchase on the second console will be 48 stickers (for some reason sticker progress does not carry over between the two consoles). This amounts to only 4800 mojo that you can spend in the gift machine.Time To Start a New Collection/ Skins Enthusiast/ Skins Addict - Unlock 1/10/20 Skins - This trophy has issues if you already unlocked all skins on your first console. There will be no skins available to unlock on your second console.A Long Road Ahead/ What? Already??? - Reach level 5/100 - Your current level will be carried over to your second console, so you cannot "re-reach" these earlier levels. Edit: You actually can get these trophies... you just have to earn +5 and +100 levels to your current level (so if you're level 100, you'll get the trophies at level 105 and 200). There may be other trophies that are bugged as well, but these ones for sure are bugged. Please post on this thread in the Ubisoft forums. The more people that post, the more likely this will be addressed: https://forums.ubisoft.com/showthread.php/2351306-BUG-PS4-to-PS5-Trophy-Issues This is what I've tried to circumvent progress being loaded over, but none of it worked: Deleting all Just Dance save files on both PS4 and PS5 Starting the game on a blank console profile (won't let you play unless you're connected to PSN) Unlinking PSN account from Ubisoft account Creating a brand new Ubisoft account Contacting Ubisoft support to reset account (they cannot reset)
  3. What is the camera perspective from a game like Final Fantasy IX called where you're in third person but running through a fixed background with a fixed camera angle? I know it's third person of some kind, but I don't think the subgenre is called "Fixed Camera". When Googling that, it comes up with other types of games where you have an over-the-shoulder view but cannot use the joystick to pivot the camera around the character.

I know when you're in the overworld it's a top-down third person with rotation, but I don't know what it's called when in dungeons/towns.

Isometric is a specific type of parallel projection with equal angles between axes. It's good for tile-based games where you don't see the horizon, and everything appears the same size no matter where they are. Looking at some FF9 screenshots, I don't think it uses this view, I see different ones. Maybe the overworld does, I'm not sure.

The fixed camera doesn't have any other name, AFAIK.

In the 90's, the fixed camera was used in games with pre-rendered backgrounds. Developers would achieve better graphics at the cost of camera movement. Maybe pre-rendered is the word you had in mind? 🤔 Even though it's about the graphics instead of the camera type.

Wait, nevermind. People already mentioned pre-rendered graphics above, oops.

    3. Dreggit

@eigen-space I believe the category you are thinking of is a static camera with a mix of fixed panning when you are in a location/town/dungeon. Similar to FFIX, Resident Evils older games use fixed cameras and fixed panning cameras that follow the character on a "track". Since you normally don't have any control of the camera, it is categorically fixed to be static or pan along the map as needed.

    4. enaysoft

Yeah like Slava, Isometric is not 3D, as it's 2D or 3D but in plan view, which is without distance so lines don't bend into the distance..

  4. I just wanted to drop a link to this Google Sheets document that I used to help me finish the game. It is super detailed with all the maps and nearly everything else you'd want to know about the game. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1JCgdir76fjPvVMQwX287lc5BCNiZY6fA/edit#gid=313293529
  5. Platinum #174 - Dungeon Encounters - My friend said this might be his new favorite game. So I tried it. I will never listen to that friend again regarding games. It sucked at first, got better, but then got worse because it was boring and repetitive.

    1. HelluvaLoonaBoss

Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the game but hey you got a new platinum out of it!

    2. MidnightDragon

      Congrats for what it's worth.

  6. Thank you for the information! I'm so happy that I can finally play this and not have my completion % suffer!
  7. It's songs from the base list. You can't do kids or extreme modes, and songs from unlimited do not count. This leaves you with 41 songs to get the 40.
  8. If anyone here is also a PC gamer and wants to support Ukraine, you get a TON of games with this bundle.

  9. Platinum #173 - Void Terrarium - I hated this game until I got some excellent advice from my bestie @Jens! After that, it was pretty fun 😁

you know i seen this article, and all i could think about is how come this hasn't happened already by Sony? im sure there are 3rd party etc, and Xbox had their own disabilities adaptive controller... like ages ago?

Still, better late than never. Nintendo kind of works within the joycon being single handed for multiple games as well.

    3. Yuna4353

@eigen-space I am very lucky that I have been with my CP my whole life, and can only not use my right hand. If I had been disabled hallway through my life then yes, I just adapted to only being able to use my one hand due to my disability all my life and knowing no different

I remember reading about this one

I really thought Sony had something like this for their consoles

  13. Tails of Iron - Writing a guide for a game with 200+ collectibles and ~20 boss fights is exhausting and taking up my PS5's memory.... 3.5GB and counting.

    1. Jens

If one gets it done, it's you my friend! I already know that it will turn out great, without even having to look at it ;)

  14. You would have problems with The Best Like No One Ever Was trophy playing on an unpatched version. There were also some game balance issues addressed by patches, so you'd have a harder time unpatched.
  15. Just as an FYI, I've emailed the devs to see what they have to say about this in addition to some other problems (Rainbow Mess is glitching on some people, Time Empress can use Perfect Cure as many times as she wants again). I updated the trophy guide recently to address some of these issues the new patch caused.
  16. Platinum #172 - Alternate Jake Hunter: Daedalus: The Awakening of Golden Jazz - Okay-ish visual novel with detective components. Story could have been better. But the music was great. I still don't know who Jake Hunter is or what Golden Jazz is... but you do find out about Daedalus.

  17. About a week left to vote for your favorite guides in this year's Guide of the Year event! Show your guide writers some love!

There's a ton of great guides this year! And if you don't know who to vote for, you can always default to my Cris Tales Guide 😉

  18. There's even problems with this though, depending on how the seller is selling through Amazon. Amazon allows sellers to comingle their products in the Amazon warehouses, so even if you buy from Seller A, you might actually get the product from Seller B for a number of different reasons (for example, Seller A's product might be in a warehouse 200 miles away whereas Seller B's is only 20 miles away). This can happen if the product is "Fulfilled by Amazon" because that means it is shipped from an Amazon warehouse even if the seller is 3rd party. If the item is sold and shipped by the 3rd party, then this shouldn't be a problem.
  19. I learned that when you're looking at your game library on the PS5, you can hide games. Not sure if that option was there on the PS4 because I never checked. But this is a great feature because now I can hide all the games I've completed so I only see my backlog when searching for which game to play next.

Ohh okay like the purchased list under game library, that make sense. xD

      Like on the PS4.

    3. eigen-space

@NERVergoproxy, exactly! I guess I didn't notice the feature on the PS4 lol

    4. Honor_Hand

No kidding, I learned from this feature like a month or two ago too, even though it's been on PS4 for years now, lol. xD

  20. Most of my games don't allow for tutorial skipping on the first playthrough so this hasn't happened to me because I ignored tutorials. However... there have been times where I put down the game for whatever reason (usually because DLC has been released) to come back to it later and have forgotten the controls. Final Fantasy XV was one of those due to DLC.... might happen with Maneater DLC too once I get around to it.
  21. Platinum #171 - Nightmares From the Deep: The Cursed Heart

I like these kinds of puzzle games so it was fun to play after having a little bit of gaming indecision. Did all but two puzzles without using a guide; could have figured them out on my own, but I was impatient.

The cutscenes were ok. The animation was pretty grainy but maybe they did that on purpose? The only thing that bothered me about the voice acting is that it didn't line up with mouth movement lol

I agreed. Puzzles games are indeed fun to play outta most of em. I used a text walkthrough guide to follow everything from start to finished. :)

Konami reminding us that they definitely don't make games anymore, well not good ones anyway.

They've already whored out their IP to be used on Pachinko machines, I bet they couldn't believe their luck when NFTs came along. Already expecting the outrage and no doubt Jim Sterling's video about it when they start selling SIlent HIll 2 NFTs.

      We all know it's coming...

    3. MidnightDragon

Konami wants to do everything but make video games it seems.

    4. RadiantFlamberge

Surprise... there is one game they're involved with now that sounds interesting, GetsuFumaDen Undying Moon. I learned about this one just now, and found it on Steam as an Early Access title. Konami is involved, with the indie studio GuruGuru as the lead developer. It's been getting mostly positive reviews, with some comments about it being a rogue-like metroidvania. I'm tempted to get it. It's getting a Switch port, but hopefully a PS4 one will follow. The original GFD was released on Nintendo Famicom in Japan only.

  22. Amazing year for guides! I feel so honored to be counted among the nominations. 23. I feel so honored to have my Cris Tales guide nominated for a GOTY! There is some absolutely great competition this year so it's very special to be counted amongst these other fantastic writers.

Please take a few minutes to vote for some guides. It means a lot to all of us writers to know our work is appreciated 🥰

    1. Troz

Yes, it means everything to us guide writers. We do it to help others and make things easier, we love to know when we're doing just that.

A well deserved nomination for an excellent author :yay:

  24. They didn't even do a lot with the current VR, and yet they're pulling for a VR2? They'd make more money with a Vita2.

They need new controllers more than anything. I love PS VR, it’s a game changer for many things. I just hope it gets more stuff like Astro Bot, Moss, Ghost Giant, Deracine (with full locomotion this game would be flawless, still love it though)…

I hate to say this, but the Vita didn't do well enough for a Vita 2.
