  1. The PlayStation 5 has sold an estimated 7.8 million units, breaking the PlayStation 4's record. In spite of widespread news of scalping, only about 10% of the stock is believed to have been scalped and the majority of those consoles have ended up in the hands of gamers anyway. This is all in spite of chip shortages and stock and transportation difficulties brought about by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. On top of this, PlayStation has sold 338 million copies of games on its platforms in this entire financial year, helped in no small part by its famous first-party lineup. Though Sony and the PS5 have not been perfect- far from it- it is also very clear that PlayStation is not the sinking ship many doomsayers are calling it. Returnal is shaping up to be something special this weekend and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart continues to wow us in the run up to its early June release, so along with the cross platform hit Spider-Man: Miles Morales and the remake of 2009's Demon's Souls, it is safe to say that the PS5 has hit the ground running with a lot more to come.

@Crispy_Oglop indeed, if the Xbox 360's initial success versus the PS3 hadn't pushed Sony, we wouldn't have had the stellar lineup on late PS3 and on the PS4 that we did. That's why it confounds me how to this day Xbox dropped the ball so hard in the last generation, like, really badly. I'm glad they've made some positive moves early this generation but Xbox still has a long way to go before I am convinced that it is worth my while to pick up a Series X though

ill get a series x mid cycle. I dont see the need for it now other than "hey i got series x and a ps5. ha ha!". which is a dumb reason tbh and childish.

Once Gears 6, Fable  and Halo are out among some other exclusives that may get my attention then I will pick it up possibly all in one mass purchase if all those games are out and its a slow spell for Sony.

However i read a playstationlifestyle article about component shortages and how there is a take with a grain of salt rumor that they may have a console revision due to lack of components, that if that were to be true, id probably just buy a 2nd ps5 LOL

@Infected Elite hehe that's exactly the reason why I was deliberating getting both consoles at first- all three in fact since I'd like to pick up a Series S as well at some point just because! But yeah, it's pretty dumb and I should have learned my lesson from the €500 paperweight that was my Xbox One X
