The Ultra Rare Cleanup 2023 Introduction Year 2022 was a good year to grind more Ultra Rare games. Since everyone seems to still enjoy the event (big thank you for that!), me and @Arcesius invite you to also participate in the 2023 edition!! For the newcomers, you have the chance to flex your skills with those tough-as-nails “sub-5%” completion list* that require significant dedication and/or skill to achieve (* Obviously rarity != difficulty.. but UR games are easier to quantify, so Ultra Rare Cleanup it is!) This event will run through the entirety of 2023 starting 1st of January and will end on 31st of December. There will be no deadline for signing up, so feel free to join at any point! Thanks to the helpful feedback we received in 2022, we improved the rules abit this year as well. General Rules For the purpose of this event, only PSNP trophy rarity is taken into consideration! ELIGIBLE GAMES FOR THIS EVENT: A game is only eligible it it had at least one unobtained UR trophy, be it in the main game or DLC. Any UR game completed from the moment of registering is eligible. New Games - In case of a new game with an UR platinum, it is allowed if it's still an UR after 1 month of its release. Games with delisted DLC/closed servers : If you really wish to complete a game with server shutdown or delisted DLC, you can do so, but you must have at least one UR trophy in your list. Ultra Rare games that become Very Rare mid-event: If you pick a game that is initially Ultra Rare but becomes Very Rare before you can platinum it, it is still eligible. However, you must announce that the game has become Very Rare in this year (and eventually prove). EVENT STRUCTURE AND RANKINGS: In order to sign in....just post a comment in the thread saying that you want to join You will get one point per completed game. Additional points can be earned via completing the bounties from the MOST WANTED LIST Fully completing the game is MANDATORY! That involves full Platinum + DLC (exception being delisted DLC/closed servers) The event will be split into TIERS, and each tier consists of exactly five (5) games. There are no limits to the number of tiers that can be added. Once you complete 5 games, you will advance to the next Tier. You can submit your 5 games list at the beginning of the Tier or you can add your games as you complete them. YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO CREATE A LIST FOR THIS EVENT(optional) You can swap and switch your list as much as you desire. NEW!! Since there are more and more PS5 list re-releases, autopopping is allowed. However you are not allowed to autopop a Most Wanted game, it will be worth 1 point. No cheating. Self-explanatory, if you are caught cheating (and removed by the CRT) you will be eliminated from the event. Be respectful! Pretty self-explanatory, get along with others and all shall be fine and well. Don't, and well...you might be eliminated from the event Games completed in 2022 do not count for this event. At the end of the event, the person with the most points wins! THE MOST WANTED BOUNTY SYSTEM: Similar to the 2022 event, we have picked games that will be worth extra points. There are 4 quarters available in 2023 (3 months each Q) and 10 games per quarter. All of the games are known in advance. Once a quarter has finished, the games on the respective quarter are not eligible for extra points anymore (e.g. if you complete a game from Q1 in Q2, it will be considered a regular game and you will receive 1 point only) You will receive full points if you complete a bounty before it expires, regardless of the bounty's position (e.g. if you complete a Q4 game in Q1 the bounty is eligible). Autopops are not allowed for Most Wanted bounties! If a game becomes Very Rare during the event, it will be replaced from the Bounty list. People who enlisted the game will still get full amount of points, depending on time of completion. Oh man, the "LEVEL ADP" souls this is the textbook "a fantastic game, but a not-so-great-Souls game" . Ironically, Dark Souls 2 ended up being my most played Souls game of them all, just because of how bonkers it is! I think that the warping from the get-go has been a good gameplay mechanic but also a downgrade in terms of story. If anything, I think the weirdest problem with this game is how the game is laid out in terms of levels (going from Harvest valley elevator up in...Iron Keep?Huh?) DS2 was way more game-y in this aspect. Although, I can respect the fact that the bonfires were still distanced (wait until you get to Dark Souls 3, they cover you in bonfires ) This ADP stat is the reason I mock DS2 and say "this game is bonkers". ADP influencing rolling is one thing, but somehow it also influences your estus drinking speed. Why they linked that to the estus gulping...no idea. At least you have healing gems, making Estus obsolete Damn...that's really a good one. Well I played with a DEX build and had no major issues (because powerstancing rapiers trivializes this game), but I did try to play as a pure STR build once. ONCE. Yeah, you said it right, i shall attack only when it's my turn to do so. I add one extra attack - I eat a fat sword to the face. At least magic is still broken in this game And this is doubled/tripled in the DLC! including bosses!! There's so many enemies (in Shulva especially).. Yep, again agreed Branches of Yore sucked, the lifegems made everything mad easy, the Human Effigies should have remained in Demon Souls (stone of Ephemeral Eyes crap). Glad they removed all this stuff from the next entries, but unfortunately they also removed Bonfire Ascetics which were really REALLY cool. I would've wished they added Bonfire Ascetics just so I can fight a NG+7 boss in DS3 without ACTUALLY replaying the entire game. Yep...game is still VERY good, its just fun to dunk on it Congrats, glad you liked the game! Can't wait to see your DS3 experience :> (do play the DLC, even if it has no trophies! that's where the best part is!)

Suuuuper late to reply to this but DAMN, glad you liked Far Cry Neanderthallica quite the underrated Far Cry, but the tribal and the unga bunga stuff was super fun. I kept seeing this game around, but only now I understand what it's about. Hack&Slash adventure? Hmmm, maybe I should revive my laptop one of these days (doubt it could handle this game )

Upgrade Nero's gun to the max and switch the button to L1 Fill Nero with Punchline and Buster arms, one Punch/ one Buster During fight, charge up pistol to lvl 3 (not 3 bullets, level 3 explosion bullet, that's why you need it max) while also throwing the punchline at Urizen When the shield breaks, do a full Buster arm grab on his ass Congrats you get 20k points and a cute S rank!

After hitting the 60 plats milestone (something I never though I will do ) I decided to also create a Trophy checklist to keep track with all the stuff I have unlocked and enjoyed (or not). The games I have played are pretty common, nothing out of the ordinary, although in my case I only play the games that I know I will enjoy . There is only one significant exception to this rule ,a certain game that really gave me nightmares which will be mentioned below. I will list on the first topic all the games first, eventually I will add a small review /impression to all of them. This ,as usual ,will be updated in time because it will take quite a while. I will do my best to add a review/ impression over every single platinum / 100% as soon as I have some free time on my hand. I mostly play anything that I find interesting without caring that much about profile 100%. However I tend to steer clear from horror games ( I am a scaredy cat, can't handle jumpscares too well) , Sports games ( don't like them) or jRPG's (not a terrible fan of the japanese turn based stuff , I am more of a Disciples / Heroes 3 person - PC stuff). Apart from that , anything goes. You might notice that there are 2 grades I give for each game : Difficulty and Personal Impression. Difficulty is basically how tough I consider it is to get the platinum, pretty easy stuff. However Personal Impression is a grade given by an arithmetic mean between these subjects : Graphics, Sound, Gameplay, Storyline, Multiplayer and Fun factor. Of course if a game doesn't have multiplayer I won't add that grade into the calculation. Also I will try my best to analyse the games in regard to their year of release. Can't really tax God of War 1 because it doesn't look as crisp as God of War 2018 for example. While I will continue grading the platinum difficulty as before (no need for that to change in my opinion), I do agree that games can't be graded with a simple number anymore. So in the past days I actually sit down and "tiered down" each and every game on my list, completed or not. It was a very fun activity, because I could look back at the games I've finished in the past and see how I feel about them in the present. Thanks to @DrunkenEngineer for giving me a nudge to approach this madness xD To recap: - My Tier list is 100% subjective. - Any and every game can be discussed in this thread. - The games are ordered only via Tiers. Within the tiers they are ordered randomly. Actually ordering them in a well-argumented and coherent list is a titanic work that only someone like @DrBloodmoney could pull 😂 I am WAY too lazy for that. - For the full experience I always count the DLC as well. If it's part of the game/trophy list, it shall be played and analyzed. - Tier list is this An example of why I love videogames - Games that improved my passion for this hobby, similar to a "level up" in terms of gaming experience. Also known as "I don't think I will find a game as good as this anymore" (obviously wrong xD ) Fantastic game - Amazing videogames that I have little to no negatives to say about, big thumbs up to the dev team. Worth an investment - As the name says, they're good games, overall had a great time with them, you may either buy them full price or at a discount, but I wouldn't say these are my favorite :D A good game with glaring flaws - Games that I wish were better. Or rather, whenever I felt like I had a good time there was a mechanic or a story point that made me go "ew what's this". You could probably skip this one - Games where I felt I wasted my time and are not really that great, but usually have one decent point that save them from the trash can. An absolute mess - These are the worst games on my list mainly from a regular point of view (shitty gameplay, awful story), basically games that I would never recommend no matter what. It makes me want to quit this hobby - The "bait" section, or rather the games that I personally hate with a burning passion. The irony with this particular tier is that they can be good games BUT I have a personal grudge against them for reasons that I usually cover in my posts. Some people love beans, I cannot stand them and I want to nuke them out of existence. But I will NEVER judge someone for liking the games that I despise. Therefore you have another chance to flex your skills with those tough-as-nails “sub-5%” completion list* that require significant dedication and/or skill to achieve . Again, this is the perfect opportunity to domesticate those pesky Ultra Rare games that only a few can do. (* Obviously rarity != difficulty.. but UR games are easier to quantify, so Ultra Rare Cleanup it is!) This event will run through the entirety of 2022 starting 1st of January and is a continuation of the Ultra Rare Cleanup event that took place in 2021. There will be no deadline for signing up, so feel free to join at any point! Also, the rules for this year's event were updated a bit, just to allow people enjoy the event more freely. No. 218 - Wildcat Gun Machine Platinum Name - Wild-Plat Gun Machine Hardest Trophy - Nosraep, True Form of the Beast - defeat the final boss Difficulty - 4/10 Wildcat Gun Machine! Say that 3 times in front of a toilet and you'll get the toilet paper blessing! Did that sound random? Well that's in tone with the game, because Wildcat Gun Machine is a purely random game, starting from the title itself! How did they choose that name? The same way the shirts have those random tags on them: Ok, funny pics aside, WGM is a isometric twin-stick shooter/bullet hell where you control the main protagonist, a white hair girl with a passion for cats (I think). I'll name her Wildcat by default, the game doesn't bother to mention what's her name. Actually the game doesn't bother to tell you anything - what are you doing, what's your purpose, who are the fleshy disgusting monsters that are shooting at you, nothing! It has the story complexity and depth of a Tetris game (if only it had the quality gameplay...) You aren't even given a tutorial - although in fact, you don't need one. You shoot with R2, interact with X, move with left stick and aim with right stick and that is all you will need, for starters. Later on you will unlock a dash move and a grenade throw but that's way too much tech already With that info in mind, you proceed through the various set dungeons, kill all the fleshy monsters and try to get to the 2 minibosses of each level before finally tackling the main boss level. Again, keeping it super simple. One of the highlights of the game is the artstyle - not going to lie, game looks good. Wildcat is in a cute chibi form, bouncing around. The monsters are actually disturbing and grotesque who would definitely fit in a space horror movie. The guns that you use are also pretty colorful and lively. However I felt that the game never reached that "mayhem" point that is always fun in twin stick shooters, no matter how many monsters appear, you never feel that you are truly tearing through them, like a DOOM game would do. Wildcat is cute; the monsters, not so much As a twin-stick shooter protagonist, you have a wide array of weapons at your disposal. The first one is a pistol who has infinite ammo but is weak and slow. Then there is the various machine guns, assault rifles, gauss cannons, laser snipers and such, who use limited ammo, ammo which can be refilled either at your checkpoint station or via picking up various ammo crates found in the levels. Later on you unlock a grenade also, with various properties (regular, incendiary, gravity and cluster). You also unlock the GUN MACHINE mode, where you can become invincible for 6-7 seconds after filling up an orange bar above your health bar, by killing monsters of course. While the Gun Machine mode is fun, you have no warning when you'll get out of that mode, so you really must shoot from a relative safe space so you won't find yourself in the middle of the enemy fire. But probably the most important mechanic of this game is the Dash. By pressing L1 you can do a short Dash that makes you invincible for the entire duration. This Dash has a cooldown, but if you press Dash at the finish of your previous one, you dash again, prolonging your invincibility. ...I ended up spamming L1 while shooting like crazy. That's how you finish 99% of the game by dashing and shooting nonstop. In the eventuality that you die, you can use cats to respawn. Yes, you heard that right, your lives are represented by white spectral cats. Maybe THAT'S why the game is called Wildcat, maybe I am a cat shaman with a laser gun. ...Yeah I have no clue why I use cats to respawn but sure. If you run out of cats, you lose a bit of your skeleton coins (again, why is that your currency idk, I didn't make the game) and all the rooms will reset. However if you run back to your checkpoint station you can replenish your cats...thus making this entire mechanic completely useless. The Gun Machine mode really is a lifesaver depending on situations The gameplay, while fun initially, gets old really quickly. There's no explanation why you're shooting...whatever you're shooting, you just shoot. From the entire set of weaponry, only...5-6 of them are actually decent, the rest can be thrown in the trash. The game itself gets super repetitive and soon your main target is to not fall asleep while pew pew ing the fleshies. The bosses are a major disappointment. Most bosses could be bypassed by just spamming dash around them and pelting them with bullets. Or you could sit in a corner of the screen, outside its range and just pelt him with your ammo. The bosses are particularly dumb in this instance and they serve only as a mild roadblock. A big exception is the final boss - he's VERY tough. But he is not simply buffed with HP and attacks, no, the main gimmick of this fight is that you lose al of your equipment and is given a pea shooter who switches the projectiles between light and dark. The Boss spits balls of various white/black color, so what you have to do is shift between realms to avoid damage. I have to say that I hate when games depower you at the end and just give you some sort of random ass weapon that ain't even as good as your normal ones. Depowering should be done at the beginning of a story, not at the end. What was the point of me struggling to get all the good weapons if I just end up losing them at the end?? And just when you beat him up...you get the game logo and that's , the end. No NG+, no possibility to use my money won after the last fight. What was even the purpose then The platinum is a slog. You'll definitely not be able to get all the money required for the weapons, so you will have to win ->die ->restart at checkpoint - cash in and continue over and over again. The weapons cost quite a bit so you will spend some time in one place farming for weapons you will never ever use. And since there is no way to level select, better abuse that cloud save. Anyway, this game is repetitive and makes little to no sense. It's best if you avoid this game altogether, There's so many better games out there. THE GOOD: Wildcat can be cute The shooting feels good THE BAD Why am I even shooting here? WHAT am I even shooting here? 0 story repetitive gameplay 0 motivation to play Recommendation: Curse of the Dead Gods a way better isometric roguelike

No. 217 - Dead or School Adding a bit of diversity with a non-fighting game Dead or School is...a very interesting game, in more than one way 😏 I got this game as a recommendation from @AihaLoveleaf (and his 5 star review) and I decided to fire it up since I wanted something braindead silly as a break from the punchy-kicky that has plagued my January this year. What I got was a jam packed 2D action/Hack&Slash with an actually catchy story and bountiful characters (as all anime based games should be 😌) Onto the premise - mankind was overrun with mutated zombies, so their only solution was to hide underground, under the Tokyo Subways. 78 years after the outbreak, a teenage girl named Hisako is entrusted a schoolgirl uniform by her grandmother (a survivor of the outbreak). With this new Armor that gives 0 protection and 999 bounciness, Hisako has one dream - to get rid of the zombies, allow humanity to return to the surface and go...to...school. Goddamnit Japan, your obsession with schools is unhealthy. Eh, whatever lets me shoot more zombos. Despite being a teenage girl, Hisako is a very capable fighter, able to slice and dice her way through hordes of enemies. She can double jump, use all kinds of weaponries and can tank hits that would be fatal for a normal human (the desire for school is really strong). All of this action happens in the subway stations of Tokyo, Hisako going from station to station, liberating them and unfolding the mystery behind the outbreak. This mystery has a pretty decent anime-like build up. You slowly discover that there's more than meets the katana and the plot doesn't lose momentum. Hisako is also helped by a wide array of characters that she either encounters or rescues on her travel. Unfortunately most of them are largely useless, they only act as support characters or "friends" and do not help Hisako in any way gameplay wise. Either way, they add a bit of color to the bleak zombie environment. Yurika is one of the few NPCs central to the plot. Also she has some interesting subquests 😏 The selling point of the game is the gameplay however. Dead or School is at its core a 2D Action/Hack&Slash with light Metroidvania and platforming influences. You go from room to room, clearing zombies, solving various puzzles which involves a ton of jumping and collect loot, the sweet loot, which is done really well in this game. Hisako can use 3 types of weapons: Melee weapons (katana swords, broadswords, chainsaws, buzzsaws, a guitar), machine guns (assault rifles, flamethrowers, laser guns) and launchers (grenade launchers, RPGs, particle cannons). You can improve them at various save points or augment them with parts that you find across the world, which offer bonuses like life, stamina, critical rate, critical damage, explosion on hit etc. The save points also have a rudimentary shop that sell you random loot that resets at certain points, however I found that the loot dropped from enemies is vastly superior to the garbage offered by the store. You can improve the weapons even further with the in-game skill tree : Whenever Hisako levels up from killing zombies ,you are given 1 skill point that you can allocate in the skill tree, which will improve one of your 3 weapon types. You must pick wisely which course you want to apply (or don't - Yurika can reset your skill tree free of charge) One final point is when Hisako gets damaged too much - her school uniform explodes (obviously) and she is left only in her shirt, which acts like a sort of "Devil trigger" - her offense and defense capabilities increase, however she is also usually one hit away from death. This special state can also be modified with augments for weapons, which only increase Hisako's destructive capabilities. Devil Trigger effect, featuring Hisako from Devil May Cry series It is recommended you improve your weapons at any point, because oh boy do the enemies hit HARD. The first 2 levels are pretty much a joke, but starting from level 3 the enemies can easily demolish you, if you play on Normal at least. The rooms get more and more diverse and you really must be on your toes when it comes to delivering damage. Every level has a Boss battle at the end, which are usually the best fights in the game. They are tough, they are challenging and they have sick soundtrack that gets your anime blood pumping. Expect a ton of explosions from every side of the map The game also features various platforming sections ...and those are hit or miss. Hisako's physics defying feats (and I mean jumping in this case) allow you to "cheat" , grabbing ledges that you should've missed normally. However some platforming sections can be infuriating because the game can have a mind of its own at times. One of the most annoying parts of the game is when you have to traverse some sewer water by travelling on debris which sinks after a period of time. That stupid jump-on-garbage section took me more tries than expected and it was one of the few moments where I got pissed at the game for being dumb. Of course, I am not a genius in platforming either so that didn't help much. In terms of trophies, the game is pretty straightforward - collect everything and solve every sidequest. Nothing is really missable since you can return to previous areas at any point and the grindy trophies (kill enemies with x weapons, gain x amount of money etc) can be easily done during your playthrough. Just like Ender Lilies, I am surprised that the game has such a high completion rate on PSNP, given that it's not the most EZPZ of the games out there (especially considering the final levels where it's gauntlet after gauntlet after platforming after gauntlet). But well, Hisako is a good enough character to worth the investment. But overall, this has been a nice investment. Got the game at a discount, which I also recommend to the people interested. Not a groundbreaking game by any means, but it's fun and can go ballistic at any point. It still didn't convince me to go to school though miss me with that knowledge stuff, had enough for a lifetime. THE GOOD: anime 😏 super strong gameplay fun looting system soundtrack is actually fire story ain't too bad either there's something fun about killing hordes of enemies and getting their weapons to kill even more enemies THE BAD: I am not missing the highschool life platforming sections can be a headache at times Hisako ain't the brightest girl out there Recommendation - Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knight a pure Metroidvania where your weapons are your summons. This one I recommend big time(don't be fooled by the completion rate either, game's difficult )

With a # or Punctuation in the Title - Phatom Breaker: Omnia Based on a Non-Gaming IP - Kill la Kill: IF - Based on the crazy Kill la Kill anime. For Another PSNP Event - Street Fighter x Tekken - also used in The Ultra Rare Cleanup 2023 event.

I loved playing it so I hyped it ...maybe abit too much, was afraid you wouldn't like it. Glad it wasn't the case The biggest shocker for me is that I enjoyed a platformer - the bane of my existence in videogames. Yet somehow this one was incredibly catchy and satisfying. You actually mentioned it best here: This game DOESN'T WASTE YOUR TIME! Everything you do has a purpose or leads towards a puzzle or a collectible. Also the first game where collectibles are essential to your gameplay - can't say I ever saw this kind of mechanic anywhere else. Swear, if I encountered a physical copy of this game I'd buy it in a heartbeat the devs should definitely do more of these types of games! To my shame...I can't say I know any of the other games that you played. Other than Norco, I'll check it out, please don't hunt us down 😂 (I should also fire up Voice of Cards Forsaken Maiden - don't forget to review that!)
