  1. Lately I have been slammed with work so haven’t had much time to play.

Unfortunately, despite having two successful attempts at boosting two different games in the past month and a half (Red Dead Redemption, Assassin’s Creed Revslations), I haven’t gotten the same success with Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood.

With the effort it took to get people from as far as Australia and Eastern Europe respectively to get into a goddamn group together, I had to stay up at hours where I’m normally asleep. Unfortunately AC Brotherhood has a trophy list that was commonplace when every other single player game had a tacked on multiplayer. Not just a simple ‘play X amount of hours’ sort of thing, but a list that demands good coordination and communication.

Knowing the steps it took to get no less than nine fucking people together to obtain the generally elusive Kingpin trophy in Red Dead Redemption, it’s not exactly easy.

I have to get around six people to boost effectively in Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood because of Alliance. And unfortunately I’ve had to work a lot more now than I did over a month ago. Getting Brotherhood done in a couple weeks time from now would be a complete miracle.

The era of multiplayer heavy trophies in otherwise single player games like Far Cry 2, Crysis 2, Resistance 2 (which had server shutdown back in 2014) and so forth are long behind this.

I met some great people on Red Dead Redemption and a couple friendly faces on AC Revelations. But for the time being, my luck seems to have worn out.

Let me know if you still need people for Brotherhood.

      Considering starting the game myself.

I'm in Germany so there's still timezones BS.

  2. Is there a way to turn off the monster animations in YuGiOh Legacy of the Duelist?

It was cool the first 10 times, but seeing Exodia obliberate for the 1000000th times is just a waste of time.

And I'm simply not smart enough to get behind all that Link, Pendulum, XYZ summoning stuff.

When I played the card game daily it was special to SPECIAL summon a monster, not special to NORMAL summon a monster.

Throwing away your boss monster and special summon it from the graveyard was the combo then.

Feels like you can just summon your whole extra deck in todays YuGiOh.

    1. JayDeLosDioses

      JayDeLosDioses

There's so many fusion cards in the game now aswell :D

Every archtype has their own, then there's super poly to just get rid of any monster you like as long as you can fusion summon one from your extra deck.

The Synchro stuff was alright acutally. The boss monsters from the synchro decks aren't too bad, they don't protect themselves from being destroyed all the time.

Knowing a few of them from the anime might have helped too, the first season of 5D's was the last one I've watched episodes from.

My enjoyment of the campaign went close to zero as soon as duels started to take 7 turns max.

Pendulum summon your entire hand with a bunch of 2000+ atk monsters? Yes, please go ahead.

Link summon monsters that buff each other over 5000+ atk? Suuuuure

I've started "cheesing" the VRAINS story halfway through with Exodia.

It's boring as fuck since there's no interaction with the other players deck, but then again, summoning your whole deck in a turn isn't fun for me either.

Easy first turn win as long as you get a Royal Magical Library early enough in the first draw combo.

I've tried another deck with "Gren Maju Da Eiza" as boss monster.

He gains 400 ATK and DEF for every of your banished cards, but that's not fast enough for todays game.

And that card is easily blocked... card protection is key.

  3. [Real Life and Spyro: The Reignited Trilogy] Well, I'm up, but I'm in pain, so I'm only going to play for a little while tonight. I also think I'm finally going to give up on the idea of having my trophy log be neat and organized and reflective of playing one game at a time until I get the platinum before moving to the next one. My OCD wanted a perfect trophy list, but whatever. Life's not perfect and if my list was super neat like that, I wouldn't be able to participate in the fun backlog events that this site has to offer. Therefore, I have changed my mind about loading my Spyro games onto my main account at this time and have decided to go for it. In other news, my friend that I've been asking everyone to pray for seems to be doing fine, so I'd like to thank everyone for their prayers, well wishes, and kind thoughts. I will hopefully be talking to him again soon, but in the meantime, I think I shall get to scorching some gnorc butt. 😁

I count Cat Quest 1 and 2 as the biggest hidden gems I've picked up in a sale.

      They're amazing.

The second one comes with couch coop too, which is rare these days.

  4. [Assassin's Creed Revelations] I am now convinced that Ubisoft has a secret, incredibly devoted team called the "Assassin's Creed Frustration Team." Whoever came up with the Desmond sequences and the long river of data that moves the blocks out from under your feet needs to be shot. lol

  5. [Assassin's Creed Brotherhood] Wow. I really hope that in later games, I can at least start memories over at the checkpoint just before I fail the full sync. Having to do the entire memory over because of a small mistake at the end is stupid.

    1. JayDeLosDioses

      JayDeLosDioses

Syndicate was the last game with optional objectives, wasn't it?

I don't miss them at all.

Imagine Valhalla with objectives like "Stay out of combat" - thinking about it already hurts.

If I think about all the full sync challenges there's always one part that comes to mind - all of Leonardos machines in Brotherhood.

Ezio is controlling these things for the first time ever and the game indicates with objectives like "Take no damage" that he's already mastered them all.

  6. [QUESTION] Can someone fill me in on The Witcher? Is there a The Witcher 1 and 2 that I need to play first? I watched a few scenes from The Witcher 3 that looked interesting on YouTube, so although I tend to avoid fantasy games, I might give this series a try.

@Copanele Wow! The timed clicking was so annoying, and I've only killed 5 enemies in the game. Never got past Kaer Morhen.

The opening cinematic is cool though!

I've tried playing all of them after finishing my first Witcher 3 plat, and before starting my second platinum run.

Skipped Witcher 1 both times after an hour or two into the game because the combat system is a completly different and not really one I'm enjoying.

  9. Platinum :platinum: #265: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

    Led2689.png

This was a long time coming for me. Could of easily picked this up when it was re-released on the PS4, but I never really got around to it for the better part of five years. Since I finally did, I'm grateful that I have the entire PS2 era GTA collection complete and done on my trophy profile.

There is a lot of nostalgia in this game. Very fond memories of playing this game in early 2005 when I felt the world was well, a little less chaotic. George W Bush was contributing to the decline of the United States, but it was still a time when Facebook was just a twinkle in Mark Zuckerberg's visions and the Twitter mob didn't exist. Apart from the fact that 2004 - 2005 was when I really started to get into social media, I played GTA San Andreas quite frequently between juggling high school and getting early college credit, as I was enrolled in a program that helped students earned credit.

In my opinion, this is the best GTA Rockstar developed and it remains my favorite GTA to this day. In truth, I am a sucker for 1990s era music, culture, television, movies and so forth. I still think the 90s were better, both culturally and financially, although many will tell me that I'm being rather nostalgic. Regardless, Rockstar fucking nailed the time period. The characters in San Andreas are very reminiscent of early 1990s movies based in the ghetto, such as Juice and Menace II Society. A movie could of very well been made during that era with the exact same story that San Andreas has. To put this short, I felt the story in San Andreas was decent, while providing good humor throughout the adventure.

Voice acting is very solid. You will notice the voice acting is significantly better than it was in GTA III. The people in III sounded rather dull, and overall the production quality was a bit low budget. But starting in Vice City, Rockstar really went out of their way to hire famous actors Ray Liotta and Burt Reynolds to play a part in their game, and here in San Andreas, Samuel L Jackson truly shines playing the corrupt cop Tenpenny. Rockstar really tried to make the acting sound a little authentic to the time period.

I can't say San Andreas is perfect or is excellent in all fields. The gameplay in comparison to modern games is rather dated. Vehicles still flip over a little too easily, shooting is done with the circle button instead of the R1/R2 buttons, and getting around the San Andreas map can be a bit tedious. The story is far longer than it was in either GTA III or Vice City, and at a certain point when Carl Johnson, the protagonist, has to go around in the country and desert to do a few odd jobs, I felt Rockstar was just padding the game to sort of drag things along. However this was back in 2004 and the map for this game was considered big. Nowadays it's rather small, but that was a big selling point for San Andreas as previous games were mostly confined to just one city, instead of three cities and the surrounding countryside.

There are no checkpoints in any of the missions, and there is no autosaving. This is mostly due to the age of the game as PS2 games didn't really have autosaving, you had to save at specific locations. Mostly not a problem for me but there were some missions that required multiple attempts, including one particular mission where I had to steal a fighter jet from a carrier. This is definitely something that will turn off a lot of modern gamers, as the lack of autosaves and lack of any checkpoints makes things more tedious and difficult. Again, not so much a problem for me considering I played this extensively as a teenager, but for younger and newer gamers San Andreas may be difficult to get into because of limitations.

San Andreas in my opinion was the peak for Rockstar. There was no bullshit regarding microtransactions/lootboxes, as Rockstar had a lot of talent that was put to good use. Grand Theft Auto V, while it's a lot more accessible and convenient for the modern gamer, is not a game I like all that much for multiple reasons that I won't delve into here. Rockstar today is really no different than Ubisoft, EA, Activision or 2K Games. Which is a shame, because like Square Enix back in the day, Rockstar kept releasing awesome games, and while not all have aged all too well, they are still worth playing for the experience.

The soundtrack is music gold. I absolutely love the music in San Andreas. 90s era music was so much better than the drivel and utter trash that is being released today. Not just the music, the radio stations all had good hosts each with their own style. If radio sounded as good as it does in Vice City and San Andreas, I might still be subscribed to internet radio.

In short, I had a lot of fun in San Andreas, despite some gameplay mechanics that haven't aged well. The BMX challenge, and the trophies for killing 4,000 people and doing all three car lists at the San Fierro docks took up the bulk of my time. I went at a more leisurely pace with this game in contrast to Vice City where I mostly beelined to the platinum. It was good to get back to a game I haven't played in so long, to play something when Rockstar was at the top of their game. On a sad note, this could be the last GTA I ever finished, as both IV and V contain elements I'm not particularly fond of.

I spent the time and money on the PS2 era GTAs, and I'm grateful for having finished them.

    1. JayDeLosDioses

      JayDeLosDioses

      Congrats.

I still need to finish this, but the aged controls turn me off everytime :/

  13. I have to say I'm really disappointed in the lack of information 2K is giving us about the issues with the CIV6 multiplayer on ps4.

It's been 4 days now and the only way I was able to connect with a friend was to leave the lobby idle for 90 minutes before it finally turned up in the game list for one of the 4 people I tried to play with.

There are some major bugs in the singleplayer aswell, you can't buy things with Faith if you have the building queue active. It's not hard to get around that for a religious victory against a Settler AI but still. Sometimes the graphics glitch if you load a saved game, I had to throw away a nearly done sience win because of that.

I was looking forward to play the game with my friends, but charging 90€ for a 3 year old game + dlc (which greatly improve the quality of the game imo) and  the most important part isn't even working...

  14. I just got the new Switch with Pokemon Sword, I think the atmosphere is beatiful and it gots potential if they ever try to get back to a more adult tone.

But I also find it a bit rushed, I had to say it, I’m the only one that noticed the embarassing Charizard’s scream? Like what? It’s my only first hour but I hope not all the old gen pokemons are like that, they ought to patch that ASAP

  16. [Spider-Man] I started playing this again some time ago on that "Friendly Neighborhood" difficulty that was patched in later down the line (think Story difficulty with Horizon Zero Dawn).

P.S. No hate please. Plenty of places to debate which difficulty is the "true" setting for this game or any other.

That said, I have a serious question for those with the Platinum. I'm at Act 3 with 5 trophies remaining. 4 are story-related. The other is the dreaded A Suit For All Seasons trophy. The good news is I am only 2 Challenge Tokens shy of being able to afford a specific suit that would complete the set of purchased suits. Should I replay a Challenge first to get the necessary tokens or do the rest of the plot first?

Challenge Results are as follows: Stealth: 1 Ultimate and 1 Spectacular out of 4 Challenges.

Combat: 4 Spectacular out of 4 Challenges. Drone: 2 Spectacular out of 4 Challenges. Bomb: 1 Spectacular out of 4 Challenges.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

If you have an "easier" challenge left to get those tokens do this one first, otherwise I'd say go with the story. You'll get better with your swings and combat as you keep progressing, so maybe a challenge comes naturally later on.

IIRC you get 3 extra tokens for the Ultimate level of a challenge, correct me if I'm wrong here it's been a while. So you could try to train one of the combat challenges, imo they're the easiest to get the highest level.

Or the stealth challenges, they're a pain at first but after a few times you get the route to dispose the enemies quickly, no need to rush them on the first or second attempt, just check the lights / patrols as long as you need to and you should be good in your next attempt.

  18. Finally decided to do what I intended to years ago, do Far Cry 4 multiplayer.

Outpost wasn't too bad but the other two modes are as dead as a doornail. The same two guys have been with me for the past 15 - 20 minutes and it's just.... ugh.

This is why you only have co-op trophies and not dead multiplayer. At least with Changing Lanes I can get someone rather quickly, since the game is fairly active. It's just the multiplayer that isn't active.

To hell with this needing six players bullshit. Just let me play a damn multiplayer match with 2 - 4 people in it.

  20. Does anyone refuse to look at their progress while grinding trophies. I'm working on the 500 elite kills for Diablo 3 and I'm just refusing to look at the progress because I don't wanna look at it and be like "I only did that much?!" Or "I still have the much left!?"

I just prefer to mindlessly grind and not think about the progress.

    1. JayDeLosDioses

      JayDeLosDioses

While grinding elites in Diablo 3 I just checked when starting the grind and after the first rift I did.

I don´t need the exact number how many runs I need to do, but I like to get a feeling.

Same with skeleton kills for the nechromancer.

I like to imagine my grinds as unsorted mess I try to sort into shelves, because I can "see" my progress and it keeps me motivated. I´m weird :D

  21. It´s my first status update, but it´s gonna be a longer one.

So if you don´t like longer texts or personal stories please avoid the spoiler

I´m not looking for attention, I just need to get some things off my chest.

    Spoiler

I´ve learned this wednesday that my girlfriend passed away while I was on vacation...

I was trying to figure out how to deal best with it, and because I don´t have anyone to talk about such things, I´m "talking" to my favourite community.

Otherwise my head is going to explode.

You may ask why I don´t have anyone to talk?

Because my relationship with my family is broken since I´ve got together with this girl.

They never liked her, or her family, they even made fun of her and such things, so I had to choose a side, and I did.

And my friendlist is pretty short, you may ask why again.

Because I nearly died when I was born, and was "lucky" to get away with permanent brain damage and weak af muscles.

Funnily enough I still skipped 3 grades of regular school, and finished with a solid 1,3 average (1 is the highest grade in germany)

The girl who died was the only person I can remember who never bullied me during breaks or on my way home, she was my only friend all those years.

She helped me together with her dad and my uncle to get into gaming. With her help and playing videogames I managed to get the "delay" I had in my brain from 3 seconds til my muscles would to what my brain told them, down to sub 1.

You may wonder now why my parents would hate a girl who helped me so much?

It´s simple... her family and drugs, but mostly drugs.

Her dad works in a pretty high position at Bosch (you may heard about them), was never at home and gave her all the things she could dream off. And if he didn´t bought it, his credit card did.

We came together when she was already addicted to this shit, but my parents never understood a thing.

They made fun of her, she wasn´t allowed to visit us at home and I wasn´t allowed to go to her.

They tried everything to ruin my relationship...

    But long story short.

I came back from my trip, my dad picked me up from the airport, gave me 2 games and said it´s to get me distracted.

He didn´t told me why, and when I tried to call my girlfriend her mother picked up and told me everything.

My world is ruined atm, but I´m trying to keep my thoughts clean.

Again sorry for posting such a long text.

But I actually feel a bit better now.
