  1. The difficult begins with DLC (like the first game). The base game and platinum is pretty easy to be honest, easyier than Nioh 1. If you have played any Souls game you will destroy Nioh 2 its platinum. The DLC ramps up in difficulty significantly but with so many build variations and higher difficulties available to boost your gear and levels it is not so bad.
  2. Demon Souls. As I can't get my hands on a PS5 yet I never played it.
  3. I am a little late on this one but letter late then never right? According to my spreadsheet I earned 39 platinums this year... with some grindy ones. Due to Covid I played a lot and I hope that I game less in 2021 and actually can progress more with my study/work. See you next year! Piece of Cake Award Donut County - As someone who doesn't really play many ''easy'' games this one I heard so many people talk about so I figured to try it out. It was a short and sweet experience! It will probably be my highest achieved plat on my account. IT'S LIKE DARK SOULS Dark Souls II Scholar of the First Sin - I could have picked multiple games here such as Nioh or Nioh 2 but sticking to the ''core'' From Software games I picked DS2 SOTFS. Already completed the trilogy previously on PC as a huge From Software fan I really enjoyed DS2 again. It was even more fun than the first time around. I still don't find it the best game in the trilogy but I don't think it gets the credit that it deserves, it is still a great game. In general I am planning to play more Souls like games and finish DS3 this year. I am also planning on playing Hollow Knight, Cuphead, Lords of the Fallen and The Surge to name a few. I NEED my Souls itch. BAD ASS AWARD Middle-Earth Shadow of Mordor - Commanding Orcs and slaying them without hesitation is pretty badass. Another game that caught me by surprise how fun it was and unlike many players I enjoyed getting the 100% a lot. For me the trials were not so bad. With Shadow of War being free on PS+ I might give that a go in the future. Grind of the Year MHW Iceborne - This was by far the easyiest award to hand out. My goal was to plat both MHW and Iceborne in 2020 and it really burned me out. This grind was the longest I have ever done and I don't think I will ever go for such a grind again. I have played Monster Hunter games since the PSP and have been always been a fan... but these trophy lists are one of the worst in existence. Whenever MHW 2 gets announced I really hope there won't be a gold crown trophy again. KING OF THE INTERNET MHW/Iceborne - In general I rarely play Multiplayer games and I think the only one I played actively this year was MHW. What can I say? This community is one of the nicest in existence. Everyone is so helpfull and it is cool that you play with people from all over the world. The community is really the highlight of Monster Hunter. WORST ONLINE EXPERIENCE None - I simply haven't played any online games except Diablo 3 (which I played solo) and MHW. I haven't had bad experiences so I can't hand out this award to any game. SLEEPER HIT OF THE YEAR A Plague Tale Innocence- Not enough people speak about this game. Being released at 2019 and being a cheapskate I was patiently waiting untill this game dropped to 20 euro. It peaked my interest for a while and this double AA game really surprised me. The story really shines here and the setting is magnificient too. It is more a story driven/puzzle game which is not usually the kind of games that I play but I can recommend this game to anyone! Another benefit is that this game has a relaxing and easy platinum to boot. BIGGEST BOMB OF THE YEAR Cars 3 Driven to Win - As someone who really likes cartoon/kart racers I tought Cars 3 seems pretty fun right? Oh man I was wrong. The game is really repetitive.. for the first few hours it is fun and all but after a few hours you realize that you are basically doing the same and you have to do it on like 20 different tracks. Because of boredom I had to force myself through this one. I played about half an hour a day and I didn't even touch the game for two whole months. I had a lot of fun playing Cars in my childhood on the PSP but this one... a stinker. BEST TROPHY IMAGE Crash Bandicoot - As someone who loves the Crash games it gives a smile to see crash handing me that trophy. Feelsgoodman. WORST TROPHY IMAGE LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues - Man this platinum trophy image makes me throw up. Honestly I am happy that the LEGO platinum trophy images are a lot better these days but this one I really dislike. BEST FEMALE CHARACTER Aloy - What an amazingly loveable character Aloy is. I really like her personality a lot. Also Ashly Burch being the amazing voice actress this was just exceptional. One of the best in the industry if you ask me. BEST MALE CHARACTER Geralt of Rivia - A very deep character with so much style. Geralt is the perfect witcher character with amazing relationships and a badass attitude. The voice cast is once again amazing. BEST PLAT OF THE YEAR Nioh 2 - What an amazing sequel to already a fantastic first game. As someone who craves for Souls like games Nioh 2 perfectly fits that criteria. Improving on almost all aspects of the first game I had a blast completing the platinum. I hear critism that the game doesn't do a lot of things differently from the first game but for me improving on all the great aspects is all that matters. A game doesn't have to reinvent the wheel if the base is already strong as it is. With all new additions as in new awesome weapons, bosses and Soul cores it does enough to make it worthwhile. I still need to finish the DLC as I was waiting for everything to be released so I am excited to hop back into it! WORST PLAT OF THE YEAR Monster Hunter World: Iceborne- As already mentioned at the biggest grind this was just awfull to plat. The grind and the RNG aspects is so terrible. I really hope with the next installment that the trophy list is not in the same vein as mhw/iceborne. I can't take another grind like this one. MOST ANTICIPATED PLAT 2021 Dark Souls III - I started Dark Souls with DS3 back when it was released on the PC. Secretly Dark Souls 3 is my favourite out of the trilogy because of this. This game changed my gaming life and I am so gratefull that I deceided to give the Souls games a shot. I tought it would be impossible to beat and that I wouldn't enjoy these type of games but man I couldn't be more wrong. Other games that I am looking forward to are: Batman games (replay), Cuphead, The Messenger, Resident Evil 3 and playing Warzone with my friends on PC. I never liked BRs but I am again gratefull that I tried it out and having so much fun playing with my friends. My suggestion to people reading this: try out genres or games you don't usually play. Who knows what you might end up liking.
  4. You should try the Metro trilogy games next.

  5. A nice year for my trophy progress. My goal was to hit 50 Platinums and finish both MHW and Iceborne and I managed to do that all! My platinums that I obtained this year were the following: 1. Nioh (1st January) 2. Crash Bandicoot (7th January) 3. Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage (10th February) 4. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (12th February) 5. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (21st February) 6. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (2nd March) 7. Marvel's Spider-man (9 March) 8. Bioshock 2 (16 March) 9. Life is Strange (19 March) 10. Infamous Second Son (25 March) 11. Monster Hunter World (27 March) 12. Nioh 2 (14 April) 13. Thumper (27 April) 14. Donut County (3 May) 15. Yoku's Island Express (4 May) 16. Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon (13 May) 17. NieR: Automata (14 May) 18. LEGO: The Incredibles (10 June) 19. Asterix & Obelixx XXL 2 (1 July) 20. Fallout Shelter (1 July) 21. LEGO Ninjago Movie: The Videogame (13 July) 22. Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin (13 July) 23. Assassin's Creed II (26 July) 24. Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms (7 August) 25. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (8 August) 26. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (13 August) 27. Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back (22 August) 28. Horizon Zero Dawn (12 September) 29. Crash Bandicoot: Warped (16 September) 30. Diablo III: Reaper of Souls (3 October) 31. The Witcher 3: GOTY (7 November) 32. Cars 3: Driven to Win (11 November 33. PixelJunk Monsters 2 (12 November) 34. The Last of US Part II (14 November) 35. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne (25 November) 36. A Plague Tale: Innocence (27 November) 37. Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor GOTY (27 December) Overall a really productive year where I gamed too much as you can see. A lot of larger titles completed and titles that have 100% are also included (The last of US 2, Uncharted Series etc). As with COVID I am having issues getting an internship I hope it improves next year so I game less.
  6. #56 Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor GOTY (also 100%) Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 5/10 I started this game because the server shutdown... it always peaked my interest as I like the Lord of the Rings and I adore the Batman games. For me the game got better the more you played. It started out pretty bare bones with not many combat options, but once you unlock more runes and abilities the game quickly gets a lot more fun. The Story while fun was not the highlight of the game for me. Playing this casually it is a pretty easy game to platinum. I heard the horror stories from people having issues with the 100% but somehow for me it wasn't difficult. With using a good strategy I got the Huntress trophy with 8 minutes to spare and the Lord of the Rings trophy with over 15 minutes to spare. Honestly a great game that I happy that I picked up. Shadow of War might be played in the future but with my current games that I want to play it won't be for a while.
  7. #55 A Plague Tale: Innocence Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 3/10 I finally decided to pick up this game while it was 15 euro. It peaked my interest right from when I saw gameplay... the setting and the emphasis on story is what I like in games. And man this game really was great. The story is fantastic, the cast is great and the characters are very interesting. The music and setting is amazing too. The platinum journey is also relatively easy, just collectibles and some miscellaneous trophies. Do yourself a favour and pickup this game, especially if its only 15 bucks!
  8. This is a very nice post! Altough you suggest not to unlock filler. What challenges/trophies should you do before this? As ultimately you have to unlock all items, including the filler. As someone who recently started it would be nice to know how I can make it easyier for myself by playing some of the harder challenges and or trophies with not unlocked filler items.
  9. Good job on the End is Nigh! Looking forward to your review. Also well done on your progress on Divinity that game is indeed packed with content... it might be a little too slow for me but I see the appeal. Also Vermintide looks interesting... another ultra rare is it just grindy or hard too? Hard is basically your second name so I mean... you love challenge
  10. Impressive. Really love it. Very nice to see platinum length and difficulty when browsing the store.
  11. #54 Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Enjoyment: 9/10 Difficulty: 5/10 Monster Hunter World is one of my favourite games this generation so it was a logical choice to buy Iceborne. The game itself is great and it has a lot of content and quality of life changes to boot. Many new monsters to fight a ton of new weapons and an introduction of the Clutch claw. People either seem to hate it or love it, personally I like it. Also can we talk a minute about the community? It is rare to see such a nice and welcoming community as MHW. I played with a ton of different people and even with foreign languages with the stickers you could still communicate. Iceborne is an amazing game but as a trophy hunter the game is terrible. This will likely be the longest grind I will ever do. This game took me over 350 hours to complete and it could take a while longer if you are unlucky. The two platinum blocker trophies are obtaining all the mini and large gold crowns and there is a heavy emphasis on RNG. I for one I hate RNG with trophies and especially within this game it is the worst. A huge shoutout to @GamingWithAbyss1 for the amazing measuring videos, they helped tremendously. But even with measuring and exiting you still have to get the right investigations and it still takes hours on hours to get the crowns. If you are not a completionist and don't care about the platinum definitely play this game leisurely. The platinum will likely make you lose all your hair.
  12. Finally got the Iceborne plat. Man what a grind it was. I probably never do a grind like that EVER again. I am going to take my time playing some shorter games for now. The game was great but the trophy list is probably one of the worst. The RNG involved with crown sniping can really take a piss.

I only have the base version but even the idea of the grind puts me off starting. Well done :3

  13. I really love Poker, hopefully its a good game.
  14. #53 The Last of Us Part II (including DLC) Enjoyment: 8/10 Difficulty: 4/10 First of all DO NOT worry about spoilers as I will leave this spoiler free as I hate people that spoil games for other players. Either way lets get to the review. This game seems to have two camps, you either hate it or love it. Many of the people that hate on this game haven't played much (if at all) so in my opinion to fully judge a game you have to play at least partially especially with such a story driven game. As I won't go into detail about the story I will say one thing: It really has a lot of emotion, it does unique things that I haven't felt in any other game before. Simply for that I must praise Naughty Dog as it definitely isn't a clear approach to a game of this scale. I did not like all of the story choices but ultimately I respect the choices that the writers of the game made. It made a big impact and the first time playing I really needed a break after finishing the game. That is also a main reason why it took me quite a long time to finish (also the DLC wasn't released at this point), and as a completionist I wanted the 100% The game looks graphically amazing. The most beatiful game I played on a slim ps4 and even then it blew me away. I have not played Ghost of Tsuhima yet so that might be a second candidate for the most beatifull game, however this game is really a piece of art. To me this game feels like next gen, some next gen games will probably look a lot worse. The sound is also top of the line, like you can expect within Naughty Dog titles. For the trophies I must admit I didn't like them very much. The classic collecting within ND games which is pretty boring. And that is almost the complete trophy list. I also did not like that the DLC with the added Grounded mode and the permadeath trophies were added later, because of this I had to do 3 playthroughs. The first playthrough had a big impact and was amazing but the last one I really had to do with watching something on the side. Ultimately an impactfull and special game that doesn't deserve all the hate it is getting. It is no masterpiece (like some make it out to be) but definitely worth to experience.
  15. #52 PixelJunk Monsters 2 Enjoyment: 7/10 Difficulty: 5/10 As I never heard of the games this was recommended by a platinum hunter who liked it. I looked at a video and that convinced me to buy the game. I always like to play Tower Defense games from time to time. It is a fun genre to play a map or two between other games. If you are familiar with tower defense games this is pretty similar to others. Monsters drop coins and with coins you build new towers. You have different towers and can upgrade them with gems you collect, another way to upgrade towers is to let your character dance near the tower, this is usually the best way between waves or when the time allows it. Once you complete more levels you unlock more towers. There are also fruits you can use which can slow the enemy or damage them but ultimately I didn't use them very much. The trophies are all pretty straight forward, upgrade towers, build towers, collect coins, complete all levels without letting the villagers die on each difficulty (each level needs to be played 3 times at least on each difficulty). This awards you with a rainbow fragment and as you can see from the platinum image, you need to collect them all. Some of the levels were pretty though to beat... gladly there are some great videos around to help you if you are stuck to use a different strategy. Overall an enjoyable game while sometimes being a bit repetitive. If you are a fan of Tower Defense games it is cheap to pick up for around 2 bucks.
