  1. Sounds like PS5 backwards compatibility with PS4 isn't quite as extensive as we were lead to believe. Even more reason to hold off buying the PS5 for a while then. If you have a sizable PS4 backlog like me, it would be risky to outright replace your PS4 with a PS5 until we know for sure which games are incompatible with the system.
  2. So the thing about there only being 10 incompatible PS4 games on PS5 was bullshit then... I highly doubt it. The Cell architecture isn't stopping Sony from emulating PS1 and PS2 games on PS5, but they still aren't doing it. PlayStation's CEO Jim Ryan clearly doesn't care about backwards compatibility with old systems given the comments he's made in the past. Microsoft's approach to BC is completely different.
  3. I prefer the old designs, especially when it comes to the platinum. The old one looks way cooler.
  4. I really liked the first Dark Pictures game and I've been looking forward to playing the follow up ever since. The time has come!
  5. It's very generic-sounding. Might be a silly complaint to others, but the trophy ping added to the satisfaction of earning one. The old sound effect is iconic and there was absolutely no reason to change it, especially to something so bland. I guess this is just par for the course with Sony though. They're used to making bad decisions.
  6. The trophy pop-ups actually look a bit different during gameplay. As you can see, the PS button is still there. I took that screenshot from the IGN video on Astro's Playroom. You also get to hear the new trophy pop sound much clearer in that video and I'm not a fan... The iconic trophy "bling" sound effect is gone it seems. New one sounds like what you'd hear after taking a screenshot on PS4. It definitely looks a lot more like the PS3's trophy pop-up then PS4's which is fine I guess. I'll be disabling that video leading up the the trophy right away. Sounds like a good way to eat up your already very limited space on PS5, especially for trophy hunters.
  7. #331 - Spirit Hunter: NG Spirit Hunter: NG Thanks for playing with me... You're going to play with me some more...until you die... An appropriate game to play this time of the year, eh? 😄 This is the follow up to Death Mark, a game I greatly enjoyed playing earlier this year. The sequel lives up to the original and maybe even exceeds thanks to the excellent cast of characters. For those that don't know, this game is split up into different chapters, with each one requiring you to investigate and deal with a different spirit. They all have disturbing/tragic backstories and it's cool trying to piece it all together. This all ties into the overarching storyline that I found quite compelling. It's a great game and I'm really looking forward to the third game in the series due out next year.
  8. I don't know about the example given from the OP, but next gen pricing in general is just ridiculous. I can only speak about the UK, but PS4 games typically sell for £50 at launch, maybe £55 *tops* which is already pushing it as far as I'm concerned. Now they expect us to pay £70 for PS5 games!? Yeah, get stuffed... No way in hell I'm paying that much for a game which probably still has microtransactions, a season pass, etc. I'll just stick with my backlog until these games drop to a reasonable price, thanks.
  9. So Gura just became the first Hololive vtuber to reach a million YouTube subscribers. Pretty incredible, especially since it's only been a little over a month since her debut. Aww, she's so humble. Doesn't believe it's real until she sees it herself. 😄 I enjoyed this little Twitter interaction involving Xbox (who now own id Software).
  10. I wouldn't even say I've been procrastinating when it comes to my PS3 backlog - I just got the console really late compared to a lot of others. I've been steadily working on my PS3 backlog since I got the console at the tail end of 2013. I think I'm at the point now where being done with it sometime next year is absolutely doable. May as well sign up for this to help keep track of my progress. This is what my PS3 backlog looks like anyway. Games I've started but haven't completed yet: Star Ocean: The Last Hope International (85%) Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist (38%) Puppeteer (35%) Games I haven't started: Dead Space Ignition Dead Space Extraction Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles Ranko's Tsukigime's Longest Day Battle Princess of Arcadias The Saboteur Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath Castevania: Lords of Shadow Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Deus Ex: Human Revolution Killzone
  11. So the new DOOM Eternal DLC has a reference to Korone in it. 😄 https://www.sankakucomplex.com/2020/10/22/hololive-virtual-youtuber-inugami-korone-reference-featured-in-doom-eternal-dlc/ Also, I'm just gonna leave this here. Very accurate I must say. 😛
  12. I think you misread what I posted. I know PT wouldn't have been tested by Sony. The point was that if only 10 games out of the thousands that were tested don't work, there's a very high chance PT will work on the PS5.
  13. That statement by Konami doesn't confirm anything, they're just saying the game isn't available to download anymore. You can transfer games already downloaded on your PS4 to the PS5 via a LAN cable, so the only way we'll know if PT is actually compatible or not is when somebody tests it. According to Sony, there are only 10 PS4 games incompatible with the PS5, so the chances are pretty high that it'll work.
  14. I hadn't considered that, but considering the absolute state of Sony these days, I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.
  15. Yeah, and I think it's the same with paid themes too. There's a thread about it here: If themes are going to be a thing on PS5, there's a good chance those will be given out as trophy rewards too.
  16. I assume this feature will be available to every developer, but it's hard to say how much it will be utilized outside of first-party titles. Still, it's a cool idea. I'm one of those people who never gets emails for the trophy rewards on PS4, so it's nice that they'll be credited to your account automatically on PS5. As far as I know, they stopped selling individual avatars on the PS store a while back, so it looks like this is the reason why. Also, since profile banners are one of the rewards, it seems like you won't be able to set it to whatever screenshot you want like you could on PS4. Sounds like a step back, but I like the idea of earning a difficult trophy that rewards a banner, which you can then show off on your profile.
  17. With the PS5 releasing in under a month now and Sony set to continue their crusade against Japanese developers and their games into the next generation, I've gone ahead and updated the thread to include PS5 games. Feel free to post about games releasing on that platform and I'll add them to the list. We actually got confirmation of a PS5 game that's going to be censored a while back now, but it slipped me by. Following Little Devil Inside's showing at PS5's 'The Future of Gaming' presentation earlier this year, the developers received backlash on social media about one of the enemy design's for being a "racist stereotype". Not long after, the developer issued a statement and pledged to change the design. https://nichegamer.com/2020/06/14/neostream-censor-little-devil-insides-tribal-enemies-racist-stereotypes-were-absolutely-not-intended/
  18. I always see people talk about trophy hunting and "playing for fun" as if they're mutually exclusive. If that's how you see it, then maybe you weren't cut out for trophy hunting in the first place. I get my enjoyment *from* trophy hunting. It's incredibly satisfying. These days, I find that I quickly lose interest in a game without that allure of trophies/achievements. I have a Switch, but it's something I play casually, primarily due to the lack of a metagame.
  19. It's in the video at around 10:15. You can see it briefly as they scroll past the trophy cards.
  20. I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but it looks like some trophies on PS5 are going to reward you with avatars and banners when you earn them. Maybe some other stuff too.
  21. [Star Ocean: The Last Hope International] It's been a while since my last update on this game. I've been making pretty consistent progress since then and I'm now just above the 500 hour mark. Today I managed to get a whopping 3 trophies in this game that were for obtaining 90% of all the battle trophies, fully completing the item creation list, and collecting 100% of all the weapon data. I'm practically done with the Wandering Dungeon now besides a bit of cleanup when it comes to the character specific -ology drops. It's a good thing too because making it all the way up to the Ethereal Queen on the 20th floor is quite nerve-wracking since the game has a tendency to crash in that dungeon. I've probably lost dozens of hours to crashes at this point which can be pretty disheartening, but I soldier on regardless. I'm not letting anything stop me get this plat.

If anyone's curious, this is how the BT situation is looking:
    Edge - 96%
    Reimi - 100%

    Faize - 33%

    Lymle - 99%
    Bacchus - 100%
    Meracle - 98%
    Sarah - 97%
    Myuria - 96%
    Arumat - 94%

Faize's BT's are going to get done next playthrough which is why that one is much lower than the others. I'm essentially done with Edge's BT's until next playthrough as well because they should come naturally when I grind out his 30,000 kills with a turbo controller. So by my count, I just need to get 14 more BT's until I move onto the next stage of this epic quest. The end of this playthrough is in sight. I can feel it! 😁

@Honor_Hand Ah, that one. Yeah, the Grigori are bosses and you only encounter 6 of them through the course of the main story. However, there is a bonus dungeon you unlock late in the game which has 3 more Grigori and you can endlessly respawn them by defeating the last boss in that dungeon. It'll be quite the grind, but it's nothing I'm not used to. It can be done on a single playthrough.

@Undead Wolf That's in the Wandering Dungeon, right? The one that has like 20 randomly generated floors? I seem to recall some of the Grigori appearing there sometimes. I only went through that dungeon a few times so I don't know if the Grigori that spawn there are always the same, but hey, it sounds like you can grind that battle trophy there. It's gooing to be quite the long grind, though. Best of luck, man. Really looking forward to you obtaining the Platinum on this one. :)

@Honor_Hand There are actually two bonus dungeons. While there are Grigori in the Wandering Dungeon, it's much easier to farm the Grigori kills in the Cave of the Seven Stars. The floors are fixed in that one and you can skip around after to whatever floor you want after you get through it once. Thank you for the good luck wishes. 😁

  22. I got the new Robotics;Notes Double Pack, plus a copy of Alien: Isolation which I intend on playing soon. The latter was a 2nd hand copy and I was surprised to find that the DLC code inside still worked.
  23. I'm not really a fan of the activity card thing it has. Like I appreciate how you can view different levels and the progress made in them right from the UI, but it looks kind of cluttered/unorganised with how it shoves all this other stuff in there like official news, screenshots, etc. I do like that you're given time estimates for levels and you can view official hints when going after bonus objectives (weirdly locked behind the PS+ paywall), but I have my doubts about third party developers actually making use of it. I think the home screen itself is really slick-looking and I find it strange that they didn't show this right at the start. It's nice that they're separating Games and Media into two different tabs so I don't have to even look at that stuff going forward. On PS4, I just shoved all that stuff into a folder to get it out of the way. It's kind of funny that the PS5 has a Picture-in-Picture mode similar to the Snap feature Xbox One used to have (they eventually removed it). I don't see myself using it.
  24. It sounds like you will only see improvements to PS4 games when running on the PS5 by using the Game Boost and it's still not clear to me whether or not we'll be able to enable that ourselves yet. Either way, Microsoft are still way ahead when it comes to BC with their much larger library going back to the original Xbox, HDR implementation, and the ability for their BC team to double the frame rate without needing the developers themselves to create a patch.
  25. In what way? I watched the video and they showed off the faster loading, the better resolution of DOOM Eternal, improved frame rate of Monster Hunter World, etc. You can also disable HDR if you don't think it's implemented very well on older titles. Seems like an improvement all-round.
