  1. [Star Ocean: The Last Hope International] It's been a while since my last update on this game. I've been making pretty consistent progress since then and I'm now just above the 500 hour mark. Today I managed to get a whopping 3 trophies in this game that were for obtaining 90% of all the battle trophies, fully completing the item creation list, and collecting 100% of all the weapon data. I'm practically done with the Wandering Dungeon now besides a bit of cleanup when it comes to the character specific -ology drops. It's a good thing too because making it all the way up to the Ethereal Queen on the 20th floor is quite nerve-wracking since the game has a tendency to crash in that dungeon. I've probably lost dozens of hours to crashes at this point which can be pretty disheartening, but I soldier on regardless. I'm not letting anything stop me get this plat.

If anyone's curious, this is how the BT situation is looking:
    Edge - 96%
    Reimi - 100%

    Faize - 33%

    Lymle - 99%
    Bacchus - 100%
    Meracle - 98%
    Sarah - 97%
    Myuria - 96%
    Arumat - 94%

Faize's BT's are going to get done next playthrough which is why that one is much lower than the others. I'm essentially done with Edge's BT's until next playthrough as well because they should come naturally when I grind out his 30,000 kills with a turbo controller. So by my count, I just need to get 14 more BT's until I move onto the next stage of this epic quest. The end of this playthrough is in sight. I can feel it! 😁

@Honor_Hand Ah, that one. Yeah, the Grigori are bosses and you only encounter 6 of them through the course of the main story. However, there is a bonus dungeon you unlock late in the game which has 3 more Grigori and you can endlessly respawn them by defeating the last boss in that dungeon. It'll be quite the grind, but it's nothing I'm not used to. It can be done on a single playthrough.

    3. Honor_Hand

@Undead Wolf That's in the Wandering Dungeon, right? The one that has like 20 randomly generated floors? I seem to recall some of the Grigori appearing there sometimes. I only went through that dungeon a few times so I don't know if the Grigori that spawn there are always the same, but hey, it sounds like you can grind that battle trophy there. It's gooing to be quite the long grind, though. Best of luck, man. Really looking forward to you obtaining the Platinum on this one. :)

@Honor_Hand There are actually two bonus dungeons. While there are Grigori in the Wandering Dungeon, it's much easier to farm the Grigori kills in the Cave of the Seven Stars. The floors are fixed in that one and you can skip around after to whatever floor you want after you get through it once. Thank you for the good luck wishes. 😁

@ShonenCat That made me laugh more than it should’ve. xD

Not really a fan of Microsoft's Xbox nor Phil Spencer anymore, as my posts imply. However I commend them for this, because they're doing the noble thing.

I would bet Sony wouldn't be censoring if they weren't at the top of that hill.

  3. I don't feel any need to rush out and buy a PS5 on day one. The only compelling launch title as far as I'm concerned is Demon's Souls, and it does look amazing, but I have a backlog *full* of games I'm looking forward to playing, so it can wait. I've decided that it's going to be my 400th platinum anyway (original game was my 100th). I also intend on making it the very first game I play on PS5, much like how Bloodborne was the first game I played on PS4. It will be a special experience I'm sure. But yeah, considering how I'm only at 326 platinums right now, it's probably going to be a good year or so after launch when I'll get a PS5. I've never bought a console on day one and I see no reason for that to change now.

But screw PS5, the far more interesting topic to me right now are the Hololive EN vtubers. I've been obsessively watching their streams to the point where I haven't done much else. They truly are a blessing. 😇 Anyone hyped about the PS5 clearly doesn't have the right priorities. 😛

      @Undead Wolf Good thing I'm getting a PS5 in 2022 then. c;

But yeah it actually works out great for me because due to COVID some games that I was really looking forward too (like Tales of Arise and Lego Skywalker Saga) got pushed back into 2021 anyways, so it's not like I have to have a PS5 right now. Though some of my friends tried to make the convincing argument that PS5 has PS4 BC, however, until the PS5 actually gets a stack of good games to play, I don't NEED to swap over the moment it comes out.

Demon's Souls, FF16, Kenna, and some other games are gonna be my first plats once I do get my PS5. Especially Demon's souls cause I'm doing a plat rain on the whole Dark Souls series trying to earn the plats in order from Demon's Souls through Dark Souls 3. >__> Been holding onto my Dark Souls 1 file for months now at the last trophy needed. Must... resissssst.

As for Hololive VTubers I can't comment much on that. I'm not into that kind of stuff but if it brings you entertainment I say go for it. ~^__^~

    3. Honor_Hand

Damn... I've been slacking on the whole Vtube thing for a few days now. Even forgot to check on the new English-speaking girls from Hololive. I already have my English-speaking catgirl who I follow religiously, but I need to check the new girls as well to see what we're up to. ;)

As for the PS5, I have the same perspective as you. No need to rush for a number of reasons. In fact, you need to check one of my latest updates to see where I'm throwing my money right now. :awesome:

    4. Spaz

I think the PS5 looks better at launch than the PS4 did. Knack and Killzone: Shadowfall were met to mixed reviews, and they're rather unimpressive and uninspired compared to later PS4 exclusives.

Still, I won't buy the PS5 Day One, and even if I wanted to I'm dead broke. Still a vast library of games on the PS4 I still need to cover, and there's a small selection I have left on the PS3/Vita.

Rushing to buy the new console will go against the practices I've had since the PS2 era.

  4. Today is when the English Hololive vtubers are debuting. I'm glad I have the day off so I can catch all of their streams. 😁 As of typing this, Mori Calliope and Takanashi Kiara have already gone, but we still have three more debuts to go, plus the collab stream with all of them after that. Obviously it's too early to say which one's my favourite, but Mori-sama definitely captured my heart, especially after seeing her rap. 😍

I really like her design and personality. The others have a lot to live up to, but I have high hopes them. Really looking forward to the other debuts. If anyone here is actually interested in checking them out, I'm putting links down below to their YouTube channels and Twitter accounts. If you're a normie, just ignore this. 😛

  5. Look who just got SO4's hardest BT on their first attempt. This guy. 😁

I'm surprised by how smoothly it went tbh. I was extremely nervous going into it given all the horror stories I had read and everything I had to keep track of during battle. I basically just spammed attacks with Meracle, Arumat, and Reimi, and left Sarah in the corner of the arena on healing duty. I didn't even blindside the Ethereal Queen. Once I saw her Rush Gauge start to rise in Rush Mode, I risked doing a few more Dragon Roars with Arumat, swapped out Reimi with Lymle, and EQ was dead in 2-3 Hound Grenades. Nobody died and I had about 6 minutes and 30 seconds on the timer I set. I must have been extremely lucky or something. What a relief to get that done! 😅

@starcrunch061 Thaaanks. 😝 Thankfully a friend of mine who already has the plat has been giving me advice throughout, so that has definitely helped things go smoother than they otherwise would have. I haven't done the math on remaining BT's (I don't have the game running atm), but I'd say I have roughly about 80% of them done. Only character I have 100% with is Reimi, but a lot of the others are close. Got the 75% BT trophy about a week ago now. Still a lot to do, but I'm getting there.

@Masamune My apologies for bringing up bad memories for you. 😛

      @Honor_Hand I try my best. 💪😘

  6. My new trophy count has been very low over the last few weeks as I've been dedicating most of my time to Star Ocean: The Last Hope. I just popped the 75% BT trophy, so I figured now was a good time for an update. I'm currently around the 310 hour mark. I wasn't keep track of quests completed or treasure chests opened, but I still managed to pop both of their respective trophies for completing/opening all of them, so I'm pretty happy with that. Most of the item creation is done, but I can't go much further with it until I beat the Ethereal Queen, which I've been putting off for as long as possible. I've still go to do a few more Wandering Dungeon runs before I'm confident enough to tackle the hardest BT in the game, AKA defeating the Ethereal Queen in under 10 minutes as Lymle. I'm feeling pretty optimistic all things considered. The platinum journey so far isn't as gruelling as I was expecting it to be, but of course this may change depending on how many failed attempts I have with the Ethereal Queen BT... 😅

I intended to start Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow at some point over the last few weeks, but I've been too invested in Star Ocean. It might sound crazy to some people, but even 310 hours into the game, I'm having fun just grinding stuff out as I listen to podcasts and watch YouTube videos. It's a very chill experience. When I started this platinum journey, I was planning on finishing the rest of my PS3 backlog alongside Star Ocean and ending my time with the PS3 by popping the plat. I don't see that happening at this point though. I want to keep playing it. 😝

aint nothing wrong with hitting a lull. especially since you've been tackling such a large game. long as youre enjoying yourself, cause thats all that really matters in the end right?

    3. dertswa687o

Good luck with the Ethereal Queen! Definitely recommend watching a few videos before the fight to get an idea of her behavior. It's a tough battle, but I've gone 3/3 when actually attempting to get the battle trophy so it's very doable.

    4. Undead Wolf

      Undead Wolf

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. 😁

@Honor_Hand Yeah, the battle trophies are pretty nuts, mostly due to the sheer amount of them. The upside of that though is you're constantly popping them, even on accident, so it feels like you're always making progress. Such a variety of different things to do as well, so if you get bored of focusing one one set of BT's, you can just switch to another. None of them are that difficult except for the aforementioned Ethereal Queen BT with Lymle.

From what I've read of the Ethereal Queen fight, your description of it sounds about right. 😅 I'm not taking any chances with her. All my characters are already max level (255) and I'll make sure I have all the best equipment before I even attempt to fight her. That's why I'm gonna do a few more runs of the Wandering Dungeon.

But yeah, I think you should give the plat another go. Just make sure you're fully prepared with a walkthrough and other guides close at hand. There's a lot you can miss or make more difficult than it should be.

@Sword I appreciate that! 🙂 Yeah, the game isn't bad at all. In fact, I thought it was pretty awesome. I really enjoyed seeing the story to its conclusion. I'll be on the look out for when you start the game yourself, but if I miss it, I'll wish you luck here as well. 😄

@funboy1246 True. I've never been one concerned with trophy streaks or rising up the in leaderboards. I just play whatever I feel like, and that's probably why I've lasted so long as a trophy hunter. 😉

@dertswa687o Thank you! I will definitely do that when the time comes. Damn, you've gone 3/3, huh? I'm not expecting things to go as smoothly for me, but it would be amazing if it did.

  7. I was convinced to make an AniList account recently, and I must say, it's a big improvement over MAL. The overall design is more modern-looking and it has a lot of features I appreciate. I think I'll make this the primary way I keep track of my anime watching from now on. I don't know if anyone else here uses it, but you're welcome to follow me on there if so. Or you can just look at my list and mock me for my taste in anime, it's all good. 😝

    1. mecharobot

I've considered Anilist, but after four different anime sites and a colossal list from  ~15 years I no longer have the motivation to create the ideal anime list. I was thinking the lists more than watching anime...

      Kaguya was great tho

    2. Honor_Hand

@Ariadne has told me a lot of good things about it too. I think he's been using it for a while now. I'm still on the fence and have been sticking to MAL for now. Aniilist looks cool, though. Mostly because it has a sleeker design overall, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to make the jump just yet.

How are you finding the database, the recommendations, and the amount of information on the website? Is it good?

    3. Undead Wolf

      Undead Wolf

@mecharobot Yeah, I get that. I guess for me, I like the feeling that I'm working towards something, and seeing those stats like watch time and total # of anime watched rise gives me a similar kind of feeling that raising my PSN level or trophy count does on here. Plus, it's nice to have an archive or everything I've watched just so I don't forget.

@Honor_Hand Oh cool, I'll have to give him a follow on there. Using AniList made me realise just how outdated MAL is. It's kind of like going from playstationtrophies.org to PSNProfiles. Apart from the sleeker design, I think what won me over was stuff like activity log/home page feed, which makes it much easier to keep up with what people you follow are watching. It has better stats, no limit on the # of favourites you can assign, and you have more control over the list itself (like making entries private, using different scoring systems, and adding notes). Oh, and there's even a dark mode!

I haven't had any problem with the database yet, and was even able to find the "18+" entries with ease. 😝 MAL has the advantage when it comes to the information, recommendations, and reviews, at least with the more niche shows, but it's still decent enough on AniList. I think the advantages outweigh the negatives.

  8. So I contacted PlayStation Support today regarding those Persona 5 Royal avatars/themes, and it was semi-successful. They want you to wait two weeks after receiving the trophy associated with each reward, and the only one that currently matches that criteria was the trophy for finishing the Castle of Lust Palace. So I have the avatars/themes for the protagonist, Ann, Ryuji, and Morgana, but nobody else right now. I'm positive I won't receive the other emails naturally because Sony has *never* sent me that kind of stuff, so I'm just going to wait until two weeks after I earned the platinum so I can contact them again and get the rest of the trophy rewards. For now, I'm gonna go with the Ann avatar, at least until I get best girl Futaba's new avatar. 😛

      Undead Wolf

@xZoneHunter It's definitely worth a try. I double-checked that I was opted into receiving those emails before I started the game, but I still didn't get them. Same goes for the trophy rewards for other games I'm eligible for. The only emails I get from PlayStation are when I purchase something.

    3. XchocomanX

Should I try and contact Sony over Horizon? I've been opted forever (I had the checkmarks), but never received an email.

    4. Undead Wolf

      Undead Wolf

@XchocomanX I guess that depends on how much you want the exclusive avatar/theme. 😛 If you like the look of them, there's no harm in trying. I don't think you have to worry about them having run out of codes or something because they just gave me the P5R themes/avatars directly.

  9. I finished Persona 5 Royal today and it was amazing! I fell in love with this game all over again. I mean the original version was already one of my all-time favourites, and now it's even better. Before playing it myself, I had heard some negative opinions about how the new content/ending, but I don't understand that at all. It felt about on par with the upgrade Persona 4 Golden was to the original, so I don't know what some people were expecting. I was constantly noticing new scenes, mechanics, refinements, etc, all throughout my playthrough. The third semester was a great addition to the story and really fleshed out the rather lacklustre endgame to the original. There was a lot of fan service (not the lewd kind :P) and it was a great sendoff for the characters I love so much, Maruki and Yoshizawa included. Their inclusion felt completely natural like they were always a part of the game which I can't always say the same for Marie in P4G. I'll be posting my full thoughts in the most recent platinum thread soon.

For whatever reason, Sony hasn't been sending me the emails with the theme/avatar codes you're supposed to get for clearing certain dungeons even though I made sure to check those options in my settings before I started. I really wanted that new Futaba avatar since it's pretty much the same one I use on this site. I know a lot of others have the same issue with these emails not getting sent out and they've had luck contacting Sony Support, so I guess I'll give that a go on Monday and hope for the best.

      Undead Wolf

@Masamune Thank you! Yeah, in theory, you're supposed to get an email after clearing the Castle, Pyramid, and Cruiser Palaces. You get another one for earning the platinum (4 in total). You can check out what you get here. It's a lot! Of course, like me, there's no guarantee Sony will actually send you the email with the codes though. It's a common problem from what I could gather.

      Gonna leave this here. :ninja:

@ShonenCat I finished SMT IV before the whole Corona ordeal began. I honestly thought there would be a 5th entry by now -_-

  11. I decided to order an SSD for my PS4 Pro today. The console has felt pretty sluggish as of late, so I'm hoping the SSD helps fix that. The original plan was to hold out for the PS5 and use that as a replacement, but everything I've heard about the console so far indicates that it'll leave a lot to be desired when it comes to backwards compatibility. Since they apparently have to test every PS4 game before it's made compatible with the PS5, I have a feeling that the more niche games will be left out, and they make up a large percentage of my PS4 collection. It sounds like I'll have to keep my PS4 around anyway to have access to everything, so I figured I might as well give it an upgrade.

    2. SinisterPledge

      Okay guys. Lol.

"recently we took a look at 100 PlayStation 4 titles ranked by playtime and we are expecting almost all of them to be playable at launch on PlayStation 5"

If they are not playable, then what are they? Can I play titles that aren't in the top 100 on my PS5 without Boosted Mode? What, pray tell, is the opposite of playable?

      "We’re expecting backward compatible titles..."

So there they explicitly differentiate between PS4 titles and backward compatible titles. How exactly is this not proving my point and the suspicion other people have? 🤔

Also, since you were nice enough to link the article, the very first paragraph reads:

"We believe that the overwhelming majority of the 4,000+ PS4 titles will be playable on PS5."

This means not all and is also uncertain.

What exactly am I misunderstanding here?

    3. Undead Wolf

      Undead Wolf

My understanding of PS5's backwards compatibility is the same as @SinisterPledge. If all PS4 titles are compatible and they were only referring to running these games in the PS5's boost mode, they've done a piss poor job of communicating that so far. Even in their follow up blog post, they used the word "playable". If they were just talking about PS4 games running in the boost mode, why wouldn't they use a word like "enhanced" instead?

    4. DaivRules

Since people skipped the relevant part and singled out the the only part they want to pay attention to, here's the part before the infamously misunderstood line:

"Second the Playstation 5 and GPU is backwards compatible with Playstation 4, what does that mean?

One way you can achieve backwards compatibility is to put the previous consoles chipset in the new console, like we did with some PlayStation 3s. But that's of course extremely expensive. A better way is to incorporate any differences in the previous consoles’ logic into the new consoles custom chips. Meaning that even as the technology evolves the logic and feature set that PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro titles rely on is still available in backwards compatibility modes. [Graphic shown of PS5 "Native Mode", PS4 Pro "Pro Legacy Mode", and PS4 "PS4 Legacy Mode"] One advantage of this strategy is that once backwards compatibility is in the console, it's in. If not as if a cost down will remove backwards compatibility, like it did on PlayStation 3.

Achieving this unification of functionality took years of efforts by AMD as any roadmap advancement creates a potential divergence in logic. Running ps4 and PS 4 titles at boosted frequencies has also added complexity. The boost is truly massive this time around and some game code just can't handle it. Testing has to be done on the title by title basis. Results are excellent though. We recently took a look at the top hundred PlayStation 4 titles as ranked by play time and we're expecting almost all of them to be playable at launch on Playstation 5."

There will be three modes, so that games that can't run in PS5 Native mode (using the boost mentioned in the quote) can run on the other PS4 Legacy/Pro Legacy modes.

  12. I've been playing the demo of Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA MegaMix on my Switch and one thing I really appreciate is how they give you the option to change the button icons to the "Arcade" style which is the same as the PlayStation face buttons (cross, square, triangle, circle). I've pretty much exclusively played rhythm games on PlayStation consoles/handhelds, so this means I can retain that muscle memory I've built up over the years. I'm far less familiar with the Nintendo face buttons. I only wish this game got a physical release in the west - I would have already bought it if so. I'm just not comfortable spending that much on a digital game, so I'll wait for it to go on sale.

In other Switch news, I got my copy of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition today. Maybe this will be the game that finally tears me away from Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Tetris 99 for more than a few hours. 😝 I only really know this series because of the top-tier waifus from the Xenoblade Chronicles 2. 😍

Got mine too, though I already played it on Wii. I think it is better game/story, but Xenoblade 2 has certain qualities that sets it apart. Also prequel is among the better ones (can't really think of many other than Crisis Core), more than just DLC, but bit less than full game.

BTW that picture has a semi-spoiler:

That's technically only one waifu in the picture

Also true best girl was Niyah

But now its Reyn Time once more. Also excited to see Fiora with the upgraded assets and seems the game has BGM toggle for original/arranged. I usually tend to prefer the originals like with FF X and even XII, but maybe that's just tickling the nostalgia I have for the original.

  13. My latest order from Play-Asia. ^_^

If you're wondering why I'm getting Catherine: Full Body in Chinese, it's one of my all-time favourite games and I want to platinum every version available. It's probably going to be a pain in the ass getting the endings I want in that version, but I'm sure I'll manage.

@Honor_Hand Yeah, tell me about it... 😅 At least it's added to the overall cost automatically. What *really* sucks is when the post office sometimes slap me with a customs charge on top of what I've already paid, and I never know how much that's going to be until I get a piece of card through my door. It can get pretty ridiculous.

  15. [Star Ocean: The Last Hope International] I completed my first big grind to get 255 robotics item drops with Bacchus. It took around 25-30 hours in total (I got a bunch of other BT's in the process). It feels good to finally leave this damn area. :P

  16. I finally decided to start using my 2nd Vita slim I've had in its box for over a year at this point. I guess I didn't properly sign in or something though, because the first couple of trophies I earned in Period Cube: Shackles of Amadeus have missing timestamps. It's not the end of the world or anything, but it has messed up some of my old trophy milestones which is a bit annoying.

  17. So I'm getting towards the end of my PS3 backlog now, but I don't think I'm quite ready to put the old girl away yet. I've been looking around to see if there are any more PS3 games I'd like to start or go back to in addition to the few I have left on the list, and then I noticed Star Ocean: The Last Hope on my profile which is a game I started about 5 years ago now and didn't get very far in my platinum journey (lowest trophy completion I have in a game). I've often gone back on forth over these past 5 years about whether or not I actually want to bother going for the platinum, but now I'm seriously considering it again. I mean it would be one hell of way to send off the PS3 considering its insane completion time and low platinum percentage. I'll see if I can find any decent guides/walkthroughs on the game because I know there are a ton of missables. Even if I don't end up going for the plat, it's probably not a bad idea to cleanup some of the easier trophies at least.

A gargantuan challenge for sure. I also started that game years ago on my PS3, played until a bit after the story was finished and when I checked a guide online for the Platinum, I just said, "Nope!" 😅

It's a great game, though. The combat system is one of the best if you like real-time combat in your JRPGs. Apparently, the cast of characters wasn't to everyone's liking and it is often considered one of the weakest entries into the SO franchise, but for me, it was quite an amazing game. I'd love to complete it as well at some point.

Best of luck to you if you decide to tackle that challenge. Plenty of time availale at home nowadays to do that anyways. ;)

      Thanks guys! :)

@Honor_Hand I didn't get too far into the story back in the day, but I really liked what I played. The combat system definitely stuck out to me as one of its strong points. It seemed hard to master but rewarding to do so. I remember there was a cat girl party member, so they couldn't have been that bad. :awesome: And I'm one of those people who still has to leave the house to go work, so I don't have as much free time as a lot of people do at the moment, but I'll do my best. :P

    4. Honor_Hand

The combat system is its strongest point I'd say, and it only grows more and more on you the further you play with a number of little things here and there that make it not only very rewarding but also just plain fun to play and cool to watch. And YES!!! How could I forget about Meracle? 😍

Easily the best character in the game, and besides she being a catgirl, she actually has some sick dodging moves that help a lot in beating down some of the hardest bosses in the game. :P  Plus, just look at that outfit. :eyebrow:

Also, sorry, I didn't know you still had to leave your house to go work. Stay safe out there man. Cheers. :)

  18. In these troubled times, be sure to listen to Hatsune Miku, fellas. :awesome:

PKAkatora is a legend, i have sent this to everyone i know so they can wash their stinky hands to it.

  19. With Ishin complete, I now have the platinum in every Yakuza/Ryu ga Gotoku game except Yakuza 7 (I'm waiting for its western release later this year).

If I had to rate them from my favourite to least favourite, it would probably go something like this:

    0 > 5 > 2 > 4 > Ishin > 3 > Kiwami 2 > 6 > 1 > Dead Souls > Kiwami

But yeah, it has been a long journey. There were many challenges I had to overcome along the way, and a considerable amount of grinding, but I got it done. :) I think its safe to say I've put in over 1,000 hours into the series over these past 5+ years. There are other series I've made the effort to plat/100% as many games as possible like Tales and Resident Evil (still an ongoing process), but I'm definitely most proud of my work on the Yakuza series.

When I first started the series, I never expected it would become as mainstream as it is now. I mean recently, Microsoft were even promoting it on Xbox Games Pass. It wasn't even that long ago where us Yakuza fans in the west were begging just to have these games localised. I think the series new-found popularity in the west is largely a positive thing, but unfortunately that does bring some insufferable people into what was once a niche fandom. :P

Anyways, I'm still not done with RGG Studio games. I'll be starting Judgement in the coming months which will be excellent I'm sure. Then there's Yakuza 7, which like I previously mentioned, is coming to the west later this year. It takes the series in a new direction with its radical gameplay change, but I'm a fan of turn-based battle systems too, so I'm optimistic about it. After all of that, I'll be diving back into Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 with the PS4 remasters, because of course I'll be getting those plat stacks. So yeah, still a lot to do! :D

Speaking of things that have been years in the making, Ishin's plat took me to 95% completion on my profile which has been a goal of mine for what feels like forever. Not bad for someone who has 350 games on their account and doesn't play trash.  Am I satisfied staying at 95% though? Of course not! I guess now I'll start working towards 96% and so on. I'm curious how high I can get it just by sticking to the games I want to play.

      Well done! 💯

  20. My comment got read out on this week's episode of Sacred Symbols. ^_^ It's not really a big deal, but I've been a fan of Colin Moriarty for years, going all the way back to his days on Beyond. It's only my 2nd time writing in after all this time, and I must say, it's quite strange hearing my name/post read about by the man himself. Cool though! :D I talked about Persona 5 Royal's censorship and I've time-stamped the video below if anyone's curious.

Always happy to introduce people to the #1 PlayStation podcast. :D

And yeah, comedy is subjective. What's funny for you and I might not be for someone else and that's fine (not everyone has good taste :awesome:). I just think it's silly to wilfully mistranslate scenes in a game just because a small number of people might take offence to them. I mean what *aren't* people offended by these days? It's a slippery slope. Even the nutjobs on ResetEra this decision was trying to pander to aren't happy because of other things in the game they perceive to be "problematic" like outfits that show "too much skin", scenes they consider "creepy", etc. Nothing is ever enough for them.

    3. Alderriz

I need to start listening to Sacred Symbols. I used to listen to the old Beyond! witth Greg and Colin, although I jumped on that train pretty late (I think, less than a year before they left IGN). Then listened to Colin & Greg Live and other Kinda Funny podcasts. Then I stopped for a while. Then after Colin left KF I started watching both of their channels again for some time. Then I stopped watching Colin. And I stopped listening to KF around november last year. Don't know if I'm going back to them. But I want to go back to Colin's stuff. I've been subbed to him on YouTube for a long time. What intimidates me is how time-consuming podcasts in general are.

P.S. Have you seen that recent stuff about how the guy who review-bombed AI: Somnium Files on metacritic turned out to be a resetera poster?

    4. Undead Wolf

      Undead Wolf

@Alderriz I used to be a fan of Greg/Kinda Funny, but I stopped watching their videos after they threw Colin under the bus for a dad joke. It was at that point I realised they were a bunch of snakes and it didn't feel right to support a company like that.

I think gaming and podcasts go together very well. Whenever I'm doing something grindy/tedious in a game, having something to listen to for a few hours helps alleviate the boredom.

Yeah, I heard about the stuff regarding AI: The Somnium Files. It doesn't surprise me considering everything else ResetEra done. I mean they've attempted to dox the director of Persona 5 and get him fired for his "Phobic Crimes" in games. They are scum.

  21. After cancelling my pre-order of the Persona 5 Royal collector's edition the other day, I have an extra £75 to spare. I wonder what I should spend that money on... Projekt Melody streams perhaps? After all, I am a proud member of the science team. :awesome:

Clearly a lot of us are unhappy with the changes that P5R is going through, so why should we have to take Atlus’s ResetEra influenced crap lying down? Spread the word and make sure you all voice your disgust towards the publisher. Even if it doesn’t change things for the better, at least we’ll know we tried. We can’t let SJWs take control of one of the most important games ever or it will be ruined further and forever. Today we make a stand, no more of this politically correct bullshit in our video games. Stand up, speak up, fight back. If we don’t fight back, they’ll just keep on hitting us.

    4. Undead Wolf

      Undead Wolf

@ShonenCat This. A thousand times, this.

I love the Persona series and P5 is one of my favourite games, but shitty decisions have to be called out. Actions have to be taken. As much as I would like all the extras that come with the collector's edition, I'm not comfortable supporting a company who disrespects the work of the original creators to gain some brownie points with the perpetually offended. Fuck censorship and politically correct bullshit. I just want these games to be as close to the original as possible. These REEEsetEra types were never going to buy the game anyway and they *still* won't even after changing these so-called "problematic" scenes. Good job, Atlus west... 😒

Pretty cool for the developer to answer your message there. ^_^

    4. BG_painter

      yeah that's nice :) 👍

  23. I'm playing 4 different games at the moment: Yakuza Ishin, Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet, XCOM: Enemy Unknown Plus, and Final Fantasy XIII.

Yakuza Ishin is the game I'm most invested in right now. It's just as awesome as I always hoped it would be! I mean it did release in-between Yakuza 5 and Yakuza 0 which was the peak of the series for sure. It's interesting to think that this was a launch title for the PS4 in Japan. We didn't get anything nearly as cool in the west for a long time. I'm over 20 hours into the game now, but I obviously have a long way to go for the platinum (just as long as Yakuza 0's plat from the looks of it). The most difficult part so far has been the traditional Japanese dancing minigame. To get full completion, you have to get a good scores on all of the songs on every difficulty. Not too bad for the most part, but this song on the hardest difficulty gave me some trouble. Some parts of the song where it's swapping back and forth between the face buttons and the d-pad are really brutal. 😅 I managed to get the required score of at least 30,000 today though after an hour or two of attempts.

Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet is surprisingly good. Not that I was expecting it to be bad or anything, but I'm having more fun with it than I thought. I finished got a couple of the endings, so now I'm mostly just grinding for levels and what not. Thankfully there's an online mode that makes that more bearable, especially if I find some high level players to come help. 😄

XCOM: Enemy Unknown Plus is basically the Vita version of Enemy Within. This is the third version of the game I've played now and it never gets old. I love it so much! 😁 The Vita version suffers from some technical issues like long loading times and it can stutter a bit going through the menus back at base, but it doesn't ruin the experience or anything. This game is perfect for handheld - I'm mostly just playing it whenever I have a free moment outside of the house. I finished the game on Classic Ironman mode the other day so I'm getting there in regards to the platinum. Just got the Impossible mode playthrough and some cleanup to do.

As for Final Fantasy XIII... Well, to be honest, I kind of hate this game. I think the reason I'm playing so many different games at the moment is so I had an excuse not to touch this one as much. I'm about 40 hours in now but it feels more like 100. Such a drag... I'm right before the final boss, but it's clear I'm not powerful enough to beat it, so my only choice is more grinding (I've done enough of that already). I don't really even know where to start when it comes to the trophies. I feel like I'm hitting a wall no matter what I try. The "Open Word" section of the game is a real chore, especially since it seems like you have to jump through all these hoops just to be able to fast travel. It fills me with dread when I think about not only how much longer it's going to take to platinum this game, but that I also have FFXIII-2 and Lighting Returns afterwards. 😱

Haven't done one of these in a while. 😛

It's been a while since I read one of these updates of yours and whoa, I definitely enjoy them. A very nice way to know what you're up to as far as gaming.

I've only one thing to say, though. How are you able to play four games at the same time, lol? Like, I know not at the same time but you know, close to each other. The max I could play is 2, maybe 3 if they're very simple and short games and I usually end up bored about one and discard it in the long run. But here you're, playing four fairly expansive games close to one another. Kudos to you, Undead Wold, sir. :)

    3. Undead Wolf

      Undead Wolf

@DamagingRob That's good to know. Thanks for giving me some hope. :P Lightning Returns is a very different kind of game, so maybe that one won't be as bad either. I'm really not a fan of the battle system in the first 2 games. And yeah, I know FFXIII is generally considered one of the worst games in the series, but there are a surprising amount of people on this site who sing its praises (or maybe they're just the most vocal in expressing their opinion).

Aww, but the disco minigame in Yakuza 0 was so fun! I still listen to the songs every now and then outside of the game.

@Honor_Hand That's nice of you to say. :) To be fair, I'm mostly focusing on two of the games (Yakuza Ishin and SAO: Fatal Bullet) while the other two I play more casually, usually just a couple of times a week. Combine that with the abundance of free time I seem to have at the moment and I guess that's how I'm able to manage it all.  The downside of course is that it's going to take me much longer to finish everything, but hey, having a variety of games to play isn't so bad.

    4. DamagingRob

The songs were really good. And it wasn't bad, when I wasn't facing off against some of the A.I. opponents. Ogita, in particular...

@Sora9427 I can't say for sure if it's from the *new* Idolmaster game (there's so many it's hard to keep track), but as far as I'm aware, the song was added in an update for The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls: Starlight Stage a few months back. Somebody can correct me if I'm getting that horribly wrong. :P

    4. Sora9427

Ah i see, so Either the new one or the Previous one, i guess probably it's Starlight stage then :P

Every time i see Idolmaster i'm so sad at how stupid Bandai is and not even try to taking one here to the west as a game :(

  25. I've been obsessed with Yakuza 7's main theme over the last few days. <3

    1. SinisterPledge

That middle guy shouting into the "camera" was mildly uncomfortable... Pretty cool that they made a proper music video using the game engine. Dunno how common that is these days but I haven't seen it before.
