  1. Wow....just noticed that its exactly a year since I bagged my last trophy.....the wheels have certainly come off my gaming life

Need to some time and my mojo soon and also locate which piles of dust my consoles are under!

Longest break from video gaming I have had since the actual start of video games!

It's certainly one of my favourite games ever. I even built a mame cab 20 odd years ago so I could play it again :)

  2. In defiance of shortages, scalpers, common sense and fiscal responsibility, I have managed to secure an Xbox Series X from the very same retailers I got my PS5 and Xbox Series S from (Smyths Toys IE). The allure of owning all consoles was just too great. I expect I'll make similar efforts for the Switch Pro.

      nice one matey

      hope you enjoy it

  3. Wish someone would make a remaster of The Saboteur

Absolutely loved that game on the PS3 and 360

Excellent storyline and I enjoyed having to roam around doing hundreds of events after completing the story

couldn't agree more, the mixture of the different things to do and the stealth aspect are brilliant and the atmosphere of the setting is class

its just a fabulous title and certainly right up there with my favourite games ever

  4. Have to say, it's quite tempting to build up a shedload of easy plats and do something like this. Look at that spike. https://psnprofiles.com/PS_4Trophies/stats

100 plats in a day is quite some going. At them moment I am lucky to get 100 minutes of gaming in during any week

  5. plat #218 Kingdoms of Amalur on PS3. Another epic speed run in bagging this one in just under 8 years. Made the mistake of playing it on Normal first time and then left it for years know I had to play the whole game through for just the one Hard trophy. If you ever start the game make sure you start on Hard. Brilliant title though and enjoyed the 15 hours it took to get it beat again without the side missions. Only downside is the loading times between shops and areas but apart from that its an amazing game with so much to do. Once the mop up of Vita and PS3 stuff is under control I am looking forward to playing the remaster.

Deffo play it on Hard from start. Once you have beaten main story you can then drop difficulty down to easy for the mop up afterwards. If you want to play all the side missions before finishing game then the bosses will be easy but if you want to speed through then get to lvl 22/23 for final boss missions and make sure you have 4 Fate potions made and saved for the last story mission. Best route I found was to put your points into Sagecrafting at start of game so you can make some health regen gems for fitting into weapons and armour, and then when you have reached the final story mission seek out a fateweaver and reset your stats and then put your points into Alchemy and that way you can craft the Fate potions once you have done one of the side missions fully and bagged the recipe.

I would advise checking out a guide for some of the misc trophs which will require doing some things like getting arrested etc, but its just a really fun game of slash and loot.

      Enjoy it matey

  6. Access the old PS Store in your browser.

"It's just amazing how easy this is"

    1. Evertonian

      Evertonian

Ahhh the old store.....where you could search by price and sort by several variables, keep lists of stuff you wanted to buy, purchase ps3 and vita stuff as well as the latest games. What a terrible idea that was. Far better now where you have to click through 20 pages in the sales to hopefully spot anything and where you have to go onto your console itself if you have the audacity to want to get stuff for your older machines. And sometimes now the pages load within a few mins rather than the old place where everything was instantaneous.

I love progress almost as much as I love being facetious and sarky

Good to see the wonderful old store still exists in the ether and its such a shame the person driving Sony forward is shite.

  7. Made up that Sony have relented on the store closure for the Vita and the PS3

Its the right decision and I guess all the outrage and petitions finally got through to Ryan

At least it made me realise how much stuff I actually had unplayed on those formats and gave me some impetus to continue the mop up

Lets hope they start allowing the old titles to feature in sales again especially the DLC

Best bit of the change of heart is that I don't have to go back to XCox world in protest!

    1. Evertonian

      Evertonian

I think the CMOS issue might have played some part in the reversal of their decision.

At some point we could see a firmware update that changes the requirement to link to the servers

If that happens I think the store closure issue might reappear

But for the moment I am just pleased the terrible idea has been shelved even just for the fact that I can use the store on the PS3 to search for the stuff I own rather than having to go through the download list (mine is 2156 items and scrolling through that is a major pita)

I had been lucky in using the psdle plugin to get a full list of all the transactions before the old storefront closed, and I used that spreadsheet to sort out everything unplayed on both systems. After getting over the embarrassment of how much stuff I had bagged in sales over the years, I had started to make a plan of clearing up the old games starting with the cheapo whoring titles. So if nothing else this scare has gotten my OCD a free day out.

  11. Beware of side effects:

I had my first covid vaccination this weekend and all seemed to be going well. The jab was painless and I seemed to be fine until the following morning when I found myself actually switching on my Xbox. It was only for about two hours and luckily half of that time was for updates. Fortuitously the awful UI and the plague of followers I had to block brought me to my senses, but just be warned.

The sheet of potential side effects they game me at the vax centre had things like headache and sore arm etc on it. No where did it mention going to the dark side

Don't worry too much as it passes very quickly but just be aware.

      I am ancient mate

When I was at University in the early 80s there was a proper arcade cabinet version in the Students Union bar there and I would play it constantly. I could make a game last a very long time and basically hogged the machine for hours. Only game I was ever properly good at.

Knew every layout of the firebombs and how to bounce off the screen sides to promote the coins and discs.

Made myself a jamma cab and played the Mame version for years until the CRT monitor in the cab broke and real life took away any time to rebuild.

Still intend to get another cabinet up and running one day and I still have the rom sets so at some point I will get to do the 'you've gotten firebombs' bonus screen dance again!

  14. #179 The Order 1886

    Fun 9/10
    Difficulty 3/10

Really enjoyed this game I know it is old but I've just got to play it and glad I did, the game is gorgeous cinematically wise I think it aged pretty damn well, the graphics and cutscenes were so good, the voice acting was absolutely fantastic, the gameplay was also great.

This game is all about the story as the gameplay is limited and with a lot of walk-and-talk moments , I know it is meant to be that way but the black bars on top and bottom can be a little annoying especially when you can't remove them like TEW but hey I am a big sucker for decent stories in video games.

Overall the game is short but sweet and judging by the rather "poor" ending I am expecting a sequel as I wanna see and know more about how the story folds for Sir Galahad and the other Order council members.. would definitely recommend it if you haven't already played it.

  17. #146 - Deus Ex: Human Revolution

A real breath of fresh air! I'm so happy with this platinum and happy that I finally played it. It's an absolute gem which I did not expect to like as much as I did.

It mixes transhumanism and politics in the sense of how dangerous cyborgs (or augments as referenced in the game) can be to humans. It was executed so well where your morals will inevitably affect how you play and the choices you make. The gameplay is truly exceptional. The stealth mechanics, which ultimately is the most fun way to play, creates an intense and engaging experience while the numerous upgrades you can access also enhances this. Voice acting, music and graphics are also all superb and it all makes up for such a quality play. Definitely recommend for any sci-fi lovers but also I think many players not so much into the genre will also enjoy it as I'm not really a huge science fiction fan either.

Out of curiosity, am I the only one that thought Adam Jenson was trying to do his best Batman impression the entire game 😂

  19. Finally reached 10,000 trophies and by design its one called Platinum!

Been mopping up stuff on the vita and after a speed run of just over 6 years to get Uncharted Golden Abyss completed, I got to the milestone.

  20. Platted Project Cars last night. The game netted me a nice haul of ultra rares, but was actually an easy game. I guess its just the massive amount of grind and time you had to put in that keeps the trophy haul low for most folks. There are a couple of really long winded ones but in the main the rest of them are simple to get. Beautiful graphics and decent handling though. Liked the fact that I finished the game on the same day the community events finished. I really do hope the devs release another set so that others can have a chance of maxxing the title.

Looking forward to starting something new

  21. :platinum:BioShock Infinite Platinum:platinum:

    Fun 10/10
    Diff 4/10

Another game I wish I played earlier, I loved the original BioShock but I skipped BioShock 2 and went straight to this masterpiece.
Honestly it is one of the best stories I have ever seen in video games, films or TV shows.. one of the biggest mindfuck plot twists that will leave you with many questions ..elements of parallel universes..paradox and butterfly effect were all implemented.  last 20 mins of the game is where all secrets are revealed..so pay attention, Booker and Elizabeth were such a very VERY interesting duo and the relationship between them as you discover new aspects of it as the story goes on.
Characters, voice acting, soundtracks and colorful visuals were all stunning.. as well as enjoyable gameplay and gun/vigors combinations. I fell in love with this game from the very beginning .. hallelujah !! <3  what a beautiful city Columbia is !! <3
such a heart warming emotional experience that I will never forget . Will the circle be unbroken ? by and by..by and by <3

-"Bring us the girl and wipe away the debt"
-"We swim in different oceans, but we land in the same shore"
