Popular Post angelbless45
PSNProfiles is proud to announce the seventh annual It’s that time of year again in which the PSNP’s communities’ guides are weighed against one another to determine the best of the best. This year marks our seventh anniversary and comes with several notable changes to last year. In the past year 452 guides have been made by the PSNP community during these complicated times brought on by the pandemic. That's an amazing 1.23 guides/day over the course of the year! Let us look forward to celebrating those that worked hard and give appreciation to all the authors who wrote for us this year. Just like last year three winners will be rewarded with the Guide of the Year Award! Also, like last year, authors have a chance to win prizes in the 7 other categories for guides in addition to the best overall top three guides. In total, 24 guides will receive rewards this year These categories are for: Overall Guide of the Year 2020: The best of the best of all guides chosen for the year. The candidates for this category are made up of the selections of the seven categories below. Exceptional Walkthrough Guide: A well made, extremely helpful walkthrough of a game or overall trophy list. Exceptional Gameplay Guide: Anything that is not a walkthrough such as a collectible guide or a supplementary guide Exceptional DLC Guide: Guides for pieces of DLC or patches that add trophies. Exceptional Niche Game Guide: These include guides for indie games and non-AAA games that don't have that many players. Exceptional Use of Formatting: Some writers make their guide so clean and organized it is like an artwork by making great use of headings, colors, images, etc. Exceptional Use of Original Content: Some writers go the extra mile and make their own videos, images, and combination of these within their guide. Exceptional Imported Game Guide: The guide creator has gone above and beyond in translating trophy titles, descriptions, and usually additional translation work within the trophy descriptions themselves. These are no easy task! Here are the rules: Unlike last year, this year, the guides in which the community will vote on will be hand picked and selected by the PSNP Guide Team and Moderation Team in round one, and then the community will vote on the selections made in round two. In this way, the voting is reversed this year. You may not vote for your own guides if they are nominated. Only guides published between December 2nd, 2019 and December 31st, 2020 are being considered by staff in the chosen list. A special voting thread will be created on January 1, 2021 (the date has been moved for reasons beyond our control), in which the community will be able to vote on the staff selection. You will be required to give solid reasons for your choices and must give a minimum of 2 choices per category. A list will be provided in the future voting thread under the seven qualifying categories. The voting thread will be closed after two weeks. The top three guides of each category and the top three guides overall will determine the winners of each of the categories as well as the overall GOTY winner. Staff member guides are not eligible to win the GOTY, however, Co-op guides with staff members will be eligible, in case a co-op guide ends up in the top 3, the non-staff writer will get the whole prize. In case a guide has more than 1 writer, the prize will be split between all guide contributors, so long as they contributed a meaningful amount to the guide. We track all edits so this will be checked. That about covers it all. GOTY2020 Prizes For the moment you all have waited for, the GOTY2020 Prize Pool! Every Guide Writer: The Ultimate Prize: is the satisfaction of helping gamers all around the world. Give yourself a well-deserved pat on the shoulder. Overall Top 3: 1st Place: a cash prize of $100 2nd Place: a cash prize of $80 3rd Place: a cash prize of $60 Exceptional Categories: 1st Place: a cash prize of $50 2nd Place: a cash prize of $40 3rd Place: a cash prize of $30 In total, there is a total of $1080! Holy toledo, that is a lot of money! Besides the money prizes, GOTY winners will receive a special GOTY2020 seal and all nominations this year from the staff picks will receive a Seal of Excellence to commemorate your excellence and fame for years to come! We hope to see you all in a few weeks for when we reveal our staff picks and excited to see your feedback on what you think are the best of the best guides of the year. Popular Post FilmFanatic
Did anyone else come to this thread thinking it was going to be a TLoU2 shitfest because they assumed GOTY stood for Game of the Year not Guide of the Year? Or it it just me?

Burgins
I kinda dig the reversal this year. That way the community picks the overall winners. Seems like a better format

I am rather surprised by the lack of promotion for this thread and how dead it has been as a result. Edited December 17, 2020 by Sergen

DoctorDrPepper
I see we're not nominating guides this year but i'll just say it would be a travesty if the The Sims 4 walkthrough posted by @Malachen simplifying the game down to like 2 hours from right after the game went up for PS+ wasn't nominated.
djippps
I really hope there will be some nominations this year. I have seen impressive stuff like the two very detailed DOS2 guides by @Kallume and @Griffon234.
Popular Post Platisfaction
Hey everyone! Since we know that a lot of you guys are waiting for news on the guide of the year awards here's a quick update. Some of our staff members have been affected by rather unfortunate real-life events during and after the holidays. As a result we are a bit short-staffed atm. While we love psnp, real life comes first. Rest assured that the goty awards are still our top priority; we'll finalize our nominations as soon as possible. Stay tuned and thank you for your understanding.

Popular Post StressEater
I just want to say "Thank You" to everyone who took the time and energy to write a guide. It is not something that is easy. If it were then we all would be doing it. To everyone who wrote a guide in 2020, Good Luck. Even if you do not win, please trust me when I say, someone benefited from your guide and to them, you are amazing!

Staff will nominate and once we have all the final picks for each section (we are close, but we still need to iron everything out), everyone else will vote on the winners.
