I've been super low energy in the day and then waking up and being an insomniac at night. My wife is also wanting control of the TV more for the Olympics. So I didn't play as much as I usually do. My mystery game is revealed now. It's Marvel's Avengers lol. I didn't promise it was a cool game. I just wanted to annoy @gruffiiti by hiding it while he was camping. It's a game I got for free. My friend pre-ordered it, heard it was awful and never even opened it. He gave it to me since I'm usually open to playing just about anything, even if just to satisfy my curiosity. I've had it for a couple of months and was ignoring it, but It works as a game for #4 in the Gaming by Numbers event and my plan A went to hell. So it became plan B. A Rose in the Twilight - This game seems cool. The game has a kind of a dark, mysterious feel to it. There's two characters a big statue thing and a girl and they each have some abilities the other doesn't. Like the stone guy can walk through thorns and the girl will die if she touches thorns. Game play is slow and methodical puzzle solving. Like, how to I get the girl past the thorns that will kill her. After you explore a bit, you might find a barrel she can crawl into and then the big character can pick up the barrel and walk through the thorns with it. It's struggling to hold my attention. Its just too slow paced for me when I'm feeling tired anyway. Marvel's Avengers - I enjoyed the story portions very much. They are about as good as Miles Morales or Spider-Man. The live service side is a problem though. I knew what I was getting into and figured this game had a bad rep because people just didn't want to switch gears from the narrative portion and don't understand live service games. I've done a bunch of live service type games in the past and this is clearly the worst one I've played; and I've platinumed Anthem! Everything in this feels meaningless. Leveling up doesn't do anything. It's more like a mile marker in a road. Getting better gear has no discernable impact because enemies scale along with it. You never feel like much of a super hero because everything you come up against is perfectly capable of handing you your ass. And not in a good way, like Dark Souls. It just feels stale. I don't hate the game, and I'm still having an okay time, but meh. Nothing to see here. VA-11 Hall-A - I was going to put this off to the side and focus on A Rose in the Twilight when I'm on my Vita, but like I said that game just isn't holding my interest. I went back to this game and decided I'd finish it off and there's no rush to do the other one anyway. I'm towards the very end of the story now, so a bunch of trophies should pop very soon. Olympic Games: Tokyo 2020 - After a few days of playing a bunch of beach volleyball, my kid seems to have lost interest in the game. I was playing only with her before so we could keep it interesting when we played together. She seems to have moved on now, so I popped a bunch of trophies in it last night. I think I need one more day of playing it to finish off the platinum. Plans for Upcoming Week: I want to finish the platinums for Va-11 Hall-A and Olympic Games: Tokyo 2020. The Olympic one will get me another completion for Gaming by Numbers, but the other one is just because I'm enjoying it and don't want to lose momentum on it. Mostly had no service the whole time so I was forced to unplug and forget about @Spacey Dweeb and his mystery game. Never would have guessed it was Avengers probably ever anyways. haha Headlander I managed to finish this one the night before leaving on holidays in the wee hours of the morning. Made for an extra coffee stop on the road the next day but no matter. I was slightly worried I might have to spend some time looking for and docking on all the body types in the game after my holidays but I was happily surprised when that trophy popped during natural progression of the game. Fun little Metroidvania lite type game with a unique twist. Megaquarium Went back to this game this weekend and am trying to knock out the last level in this game. I am getting close and should pop the platinum at the same time. Its an interesting and fairly easy game that I would recommend if you like builder type game AND fish/aquarium life. If you like neither... there is nothing for you here. Spinacheq Posted July 28, 2021 Share Posted July 28, 2021 Week #29 Update: Finished 2 more games from the backlog Everybody's Gone To The Rapture and Chaos on Deponia. Both were fresh start games but they were backlog games so I had to get to them sometime Smaller increase this week as even though I completed 2 games I didn't clean up any trophies form the unearned list. So only a 0.27% increase, finishing the week at 81.65%. Up 8.32% from the start of the event, and now only 2.35% to NG+ of 84%. Everybody's Gone To The Rapture (PS4): Took me longer than 10 hours for the platinum but the story, (unless I want to count the 4 hours I fell alseep in the middle of the night while playing it lol) took me probably 6 to 7 hours total just exploring and experiencing the story and environment for myself. Now this game I have a love hate relationship it now. The story was good, and interesting seeing it from the different peoples perspectives. I didn't mind the pace at all. So if you can just stop there and not have to get the platinum (my mind wouldn't go for that), then it is a nice game. I think it would have been a lot better as a VR game, so you look around and experience things in that setup it would have been great. It was the platinum clean up that made me lose all my joy with the game. The forced slow speed when you would come to area with something from the story the devs wanted you to interact with. The music you couldn't turn down or off without hitting the mute button and thus didn't know if you where triggering a phone or door that wasn't meant to open but you had to hear the try to know you got them all.... Don't get me wrong the music wasn't bad but no volume on it was very annoying, there were times I wanted to stand in the middle of the wheat field and hear breeze blow over the wheat, cause yes you could hear it. But if you stood too long the music would pick up and drown out all other sound in an almost you aren't playing how we want get a move on it manner... which seemed super odd to me. Oh well it is over and while it had nice things, it had some very big flaws. I got it for free from psplus+ so I don't feel cheated on my money just sad at how much of a loss of potential. 6/10 over all. 8/10 if you just play the story once.... Chaos on Deponia (PS4): Yeah so it was longer than the first and took me longer than I wanted since some of the puzzles were frustrating and I knew from the first game if you skipped them no trophy. So A few I would spend 30 to 45 mins on. I am not going to mention how I thought I got stuck and couldn't continue and had to restart from a previous save that was 3 hours before messed up a different long term trophy for a collectable.... grr only to find out later on you could undo what I thought was undo able as much later in the game you learn how to undo it... grr. The story was fun and good sequel to the events in the first one. Same pretty graphics that I loved from the first one, the controls seems a little more stiff in this one though, and the humor was on par to the first so I enjoyed it all. I am glad I got this 1.95 a few months ago on a sale. I wish I had a physical copy of 2, 3, and 4. As it is now I have to go to PC for 3 since PS4 has scrubbed it from the face of the planet, cause some people have no sense of humor and complain about something stupid, while letting games like fallout 4 go on with actual slavers you can sell people to and make a profit from or an expansion where you side them and enslave the cities you freed in the main game.... but yeah people go after smaller devs and let the bigger ones do what they want. sorry rant over with. 7/10 rating from me can't wait to play the rest and see how it all turns out. Started and finished Epic Mickey: The Power of Two (A random impulse buy from CEX a few weeks ago, fairly enjoyable, although I'd recommended doing this witha 2nd person, or at leas thaivng a 2nd controlelr available, as the ai can be utterly useless at times). FInally I made a start on the Watch Dog DLC, Bad Blood. I started - and subsequently completed - five games, the longest being Mass Effect 3. I also autopopped my first game: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. In between playing the new additions, I finally cleaned up a couple of older games, including Gone Home and LEGO Batman 2. The most difficult part being the motivation needed to replay games from the backlog. With all the progress I made, adding a large trophy list like Fallout: New Vegas didn’t even dent my percentage increase this month. Maybe by year end I can get 10%. It did help that I almost completed Diablo 3 this month. That was a huge chunk of my increase. I know how you feel on progress though. even though I had good month of completed games, and a ton of trophies they were all from new backlog games for me as I was playing in Gaming by Numbers too. based_gigachad Posted August 1, 2021 Share Posted August 1, 2021 Starting Percent: 55.33% Previous Update: 63.74% Current Percent: 63.92% I had a week away from home visiting some family and friends on the other side of the country so had no progress to report until this weekend! I came back home late on Friday afternoon and went out with some friends to a club for the first time in more or less 18 months, so I didn't come home until about 8.30 am Saturday and I slept until 6.30 in the evening! It's now currently just past midnight on monday morning and I've not yet been to bed (will be very shortly!) because I needed to reset the sleep cycle for work, luckily this does mean I managed to put a lot of hours into gaming today! Firstly, I went back to Hot Pursuit Remastered and obtained the last miscellaneous trophy to pop the platinum for my trophy #4500, it only took 5 minutes to do and then a friend and I made a start on We Were Here. I don't usually play co-op games and I can't say I'm exactly a fan of this one either, but I didn't play too much after it frustrated me on one particular section and I don't have great patience when I'm hungover so I'll go back to that another time. Instead, I've put several hours into wreckfest, completing the entire career and all trophies obtainable in single player, which leaves me only one trophy away from a new platinum and 100%, which is for winning 20 online events. I did play a few hours of online this evening and I know I have already amassed in the region of 10-15 victories from playing in some public lobbies which were really good fun. I really like driving games and if an online trophy is relatively straightforward and the servers are populated well, I'm having a lot of fun spending the time on this one even though I know I could go on the sessions page here and finish the wins in no time at all. Unfortunately, team races do not count as victories if your team wins, but apparently you are credited a victory if you are the first player on either team to finish the race. Plans for next week involve finishing up my online victories on Wreckfest, then going back to and completing We Were Here, and I also need to take on Abzu and Maquette this month for the summer backlog challenge but these ones shouldn't be stressful or too time consuming. 4 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

AC Valhalla I have finished DLC number 1 and will begin working on the next this month. I have heard the challenges are a bit extreme so will probably give them a miss. Red Dead Redemption 1 I have finished it as much as I am will to. I was happy to get it up from 10% completion. I have played it before on Xbox360 and love the game. I am not sure why I put it off for so long. It was just one of those game I never got to. After playing RDR2, playing it again added that extra bit of depth. AC Black Flag Deleted the save and forgot to back up my save to the cloud. I have finally moved further on than I was originally. Great game, just need to find the time. Dirt Rally 2.0 I was looking for another racing game to play. This popped up on sale and I though why not. Its all I've played for the last week and half. The last Colin Mcrae I played was 3 on the PS2. I loved it then and I am hooked now. Going for plat but not 100%. I will be happy with 80%+ completion. Partially because I got a puppy this week and it needs constant vigilance on my part because she will chew anything and everything. I posted a photo of her in the Gaming By Numbers thread if you're curious about her. Anyway, things went okay. gaming-wise. Just a little less time than normal and more interrupted than normal. I didn't start any new games so there's a small victory. The Last of Us Part 2- I was avoiding the DLC on this for a long time because it was basically two whole playthroughs for two trophies and neither are even gold. Not sure why I felt like it, but I started doing one in-game day, each real life day and I finished the Grounded playthrough this week. I haven't started up the perma-death playthrough yet. Yes, I know I technically could have combined these into one playthrough, but I think I would have been really frustrated and relying on save-scumming to do it. Marvel's Avengers - This is where I spent almost all my gaming time this week. They had a 4x XP weekend and I busted out like 200 hero levels and got the Back in Business trophy out of the way. And since hives were a decent way to gain XP, I probably did like half of what I need for the grindiest trophy in the game, which is completing 50 hive missions. But those should be easier with heroes that have all their skills unlocked. Progress on this game has been fine. It will be over soon. VA-11 Hall-A - I didn't spend a whole lot of time on this but I finished a mostly blind playthrough and knocked out some side trophies like buying all the items and beating a mini-game that you can play when you buy a computer in the game. I'll need a replay the game to get some missable trophies I missed out on, but now that I actually have played the whole story, I won't feel bad about skipping all the text the this time around. I think it just needs about two hours of attention and I'll be done. Immortals Fenyx Rising - I barely played this, but I did pop a trophy or two in the hour or so I was playing it. I just happened to hit a story milestone. I didn't do anything special worth talking about. Plans for Upcoming Week: I think I'll go with what I planned to do last week. I still want to finish the platinums for Va-11 Hall-A and Olympic Games: Tokyo 2020. It was not fun boosting to lvl50, but it took less than I was expecting, I'm proud! Was out at the lake all weekend with friends and that severely limited my gaming time this week. I still managed to hit my goal of reaching 100 plats by the end of the month thanks to a couple of mostly completed games that I had on my profile. I'm pretty happy I was even able to knock out 4 platinums this week. Megaquarium Finishing up the final level only took a few more hours and it netted me a whale shark for my aquarium. Kinda wish this was available earlier on as giant tanks and giant sharks would be way more fun to build an aquarium around then the small tanks and fish you mostly play with. I suppose I could go back and play sandbox mode now that I have unlocked everything but its not much of a draw to be honest. Maybe one day I will go back and mess around with it but for now the game is done. A Tale of Paper I bought this game thinking it would be a lot like Unravel but it wasn't at all. It was much more like Little Nightmares which was awesome as that was a favorite game of mine. It was a lot of fun working through the levels and the way the game let you switch between various paper creations (origami frog, paper airplane, paper ball, etc) was pretty neat. I only wished the game was longer as I was really liking my time with it. Tom Clancy's The Division 2 I went back to this one as I needed a couple plats before the end of the month and all I needed to finish on this was the Skirmish combat trophies. I really enjoy playing co-op with a squad of friends or even randoms but am not the biggest fan of playing skirmishes or team matches online. Luckily for me I loaded in on a team with a couple ringers who carried me to a win in my first match. This made it really quick to get the last couple trophies to pop the platinum. The Little Acre After reaching my goal of 100 platinums with The Division 2 I couldn't figure out what to play next. I only had a day left before leaving for a long weekend so when I saw this while browsing my library I figured it might be a good quick game. It was rather quick and I finished it faster than I thought I would for another platinum. If you like point and click games its worth a play. Lonely Mountains: Downhill Played for a few hours this week and managed to knock out a few trophies. I really like this game especially for short bursts of gameplay when you only have an hour or two at a time. Hopefully more people check it out as its a brilliant game in my opinion. There's some specific stuff that depending on your play style you probably wouldn't touch, I know it's possible cause I've played FFXIV for lots and lots of hours and didn't have the plat for the ps3/ps4 version until I started this event, there was stuff like doing 1000 levequests that I was not even near the amout cause they are just not worth if you are just playing normally. btw now I don't have the ps5 plat cause I never bothered to do savage level raids and also missing some stuff that I don't do much when I play. There are a couple trophies she needs, but the one that is funniest to me is hackling 50 terminals. She just doesn't like that mini-game and her favorite companion is Nick valentine, who can hack for you. I know I biased towards checking off the trophies; but it's so funny to me that something so trivial would stop her from trying for the platinum. So no gaming for me in the next 2,5/3 weeks. Since the start of this event I achieved a 4.39% increase, just 1,77% to go. Really happy about that! AC III + DLC (1/4) - PS3 I have achieved the platinum this week ?. Did all the extra stuff that was needed (took me around 25 hours at least) , crazy big game...currently working on the DLC. During the last days I promised myself not to play an AC anymore. But now that I have achieved this platinum I might rethink that. After all, it has been one of my favorite game franchises.... F2011 - PSVita Getting the Gold medals on every track is a slow process, beating some time records is super hard as I just improve with ,01 of sec every time. I think it is just a matter of trying over and over again. Current Status: Plans for next week(s): - finish DLC of AC III (PS3) - beat time records of F2011 (PSVita) - get recharged during my holiday.....and try to get through my books back log ?
