Attack on Completion 2021 ( Year 4)

Weekly Update: Well, here I am again bored on a Sunday. So I'm doing my weekly update a day earlier than usual again. So I finished up two games for the Gaming by Numbers event. I also started thinking about Halloween. I normally participate in or run an event on PSNP, but I got some stuff going on in real life and didn't want to add anything obligations on top of it and I mostly want to wrap up games and attempt to hit my goal of 80% by year end. So I decided to start on a few things for my Halloween enjoyment while I continue to complete my backlog. The first is Friday the 13th. This game has an ultra-rare plat but mostly because of a few grindy trophies, specifically playing 1000 games as Jason. But you can boost this if you have a nice friend or a second console. I'll probably play legitimately for a while until it gets stale, but self- boosting after that. I'm not trying to have it wrapped up by Halloween or anything like that. It will just get there when it gets there. Probably next Halloween season, if I'm being honest. However, it's just one game on the profile and I think it can be the key thing that helps me feel like I'm celebrating Halloween in my gaming, which is important to me because I'm a weirdo. The other Halloween thing is TellTale's Walking Dead. These are so easy and complete so fast, I don't feel like its a conflict of interest to start them up while I'm working on upping my completion. Then in general, I'll probably finish more horror things already on my profile like Resident Evil 2's DLC and Alien Isolation.

Bastion - Finished up the platinum as planned. Definitely recommend this game for people. It's a pretty simple hack and slash game. The world was destroyed in an event called the calamity. You're tasked with finding some shards and if you find them all, you can save the world from the calamity. The story isn't super original. However, the narration is good, the gameplay is good, the art is good, the music is very good, doing most of the trophies will come naturally and the others add a little challenge on the top, but are definitely doable. The time required is short too, so don't pass it up.
Marvel's Avengers - Also finished up the platinum as planned. But I don't actually recommend this one. If you are interested play it for the story on an alt account. Do not go for the platinum. The story is actually really good. There's kind of a disaster at the beginning of the game at a big event celebrating the Avengers and basically San Francisco is now San Fran-big-hole-in-the-ground. The fall out from that, causes people to mutate and many get super powers. Those impacted are called Inhuman and your main protagonist Kamala is one of these. Initially, it looks like the disaster was caused by Tony Stark's experimental fuel source for the cool Avengers aircraft carrier. The government is pissed and Tony loses his company and billions and it becomes a corporation called AIM. The Avengers are disbanded and they don't even like each other much. Since the general public sentiment is the Avengers are awful, no one seems to give a crap either. However, AIM is starting to round up inhumans calling them dangerous and uncontrollable. Kamala's heroics begin when she has to escape from AIM and after that she attempts to bring the Avengers back together and expose AIM's nefarious practices. All of that story process is very good and very enjoyable. After the story it might seem like there's so many things to do like Villain Sectors, Drop Zones, Missions, Hives, etc. However, what actually is there are about 8 different rooms. Each room can be modified slightly so it can be used for like 5 different objective types. Like sometimes there's big computers in there to beat up and destroy the bad guy's data, other times the room will be mostly empty so they can stuff it with enemies and you have a big fight. Sometimes, there will be three specific computers in there and you have to control more computers than the enemy and hold out for a few minutes while Jarvis hacks them before they can shut him out etc. So anyway, you have 8 rooms and maybe 40 total variations. A mission will be like start outside, fight your way into a building and do one or two random rooms. A drop zone, fight your way in and do one random room. A villain sector fight your way in, three random rooms and a boss fight. A hive? fight your way in and do five random rooms. A elite hive: 6 random rooms, a heroic hive: 14 random rooms. So really the platinum is like complete these 8 rooms like 500 times each. There's very little variety in those and very little else you have to do for trophies. With that said, the game is fun to play, even beating up endless robots in the same room over and over is decently entertaining. It just really overstays its welcome, by a lot.
Walking Dead Season One - This one starts so slow. but now I'm a few episodes in, I'm glad to be hitting those choices that are interesting. Like you see a girl in an alley being surrounded by zombies. She's clearly already been bit. So do you shoot her to put an end to her terror and misery, or capitalize on the distraction she's making so you have more time to loot a building? My daughter was horrified when I chose to let the girl suffer so i could loot. She learned something about my mentality in that moment. People give Telltale shit a lot about choices not really changing the overall story, but I personally think the way you get there is the point and your choices reveal a lot about yourself and that the journey is the important part.
Friday the 13th - I actually didn't plan to start this one already, but seeing it on my dashboard caught my wife's attention. So I started it up so we could have a little taste of what it's like. I just played two rounds though since I was prioritizing wrapping up the Avengers game. My wife isn't actually interested in my gaming, so she's probably already watched all she's going to of this game. It will probably be a couple more weeks until I pick this up again.
Hollowknight- I didn't earn a trophy on this, but I did pick it back up and I beat the Mantis Lords. I was going to move onto Deepnest, but it was too dark there and I didn't feel like figuring out what I should actually do next right then so I switched games.

Plans for Upcoming Week: I finished Gaming by Numbers, so I don't have any deadlines or criteria to fill with my games. I'm going to wrap up season one of The Walking Dead. I will also work on Hades and Hollowknight. @gruffiiti and I also have plans to get back to doing some co-op. I know we have things in progress to wrap-up like Demon's Souls, but I wouldn't be surprised if we add a game like We Were Here Too to our profiles. I'll be being mindful of my 2021 goal though and Im aiming for 73%+ by end of September.

Monday update

My plans for working on Uncharted this week didn't happen as I was away last weekend camping and when I got back I felt like trying out Evoland. It was on sale and highly recommended to me. I have been playing that most of the week and its been great fun. Most of the rest of my game time this week was spent helping out @Saint_Phoenix with the challenge missions in Sniper Elite 3 this week. He in turn helped me finish off the remaining ribbons I needed in the MP as well. Wouldn't hesitate to boost with again.

I will likely continue on with Evoland this week until complete and plan to get some co-op in with @Spacey Dweeb as well. We have a few co-op games to get back to and finish up now.

Beyond that I haven't a clue yet which game will grab my attention next...

Metropolis: Lux Obscura

Replayed the game a couple more times to get the different endings and finish this one up. It went pretty quick as once you got the hang of the battles it was pretty quick to complete. I don't think I failed a fight after the original learning curve. I came close once or twice but caught a lucky streak to win a few times.

Sniper Elite 3

Finished off all the MP trophies this week with exception to having to complete the game in co-op. I will likely double that up with doing an Authentic run at some point when I am feeling like it and find someone who wants to take it on with me. For now I'll probably plug away at the SP and mop up the rest of the missions and collectibles.

Evoland

This was on sale this week and this game had been recommended to me by @Inuty so I picked it up and started it up. I wasn't sure what to expect but went into it thinking it would be a simple rpg type adventure. It turned out to be so much more. Not only is it a good adventure rpg game its a mash up of so many different types of games from the past that makes this game super unique and fresh. Its brought back so many memories of games Ive loved in the past and its been a lot of fun playing and identifying which game they are mimicking next.

Lonely Mountains: Downhill

Played this for an hour yesterday with my daughter and even though there was a lot of goofing around and laughing at all the crazy ragdoll crashes we could make happen we did managed to finish at least one more challenge. One day this will be complete but I do love having it around for a quick pickup and play game.

I'm finally green! Woooo! Trying to go through and complete some of the games I have pending. Iceborne is one of those, and getting those crowns are going to suuuuuck. I do think I am going to start save scumming since I have the rest of the trophies now. I beat BC3 in Dead Cells the other day, so I have one more playthrough on BC4 and then to do a couple of no hit bosses. Finished Bioshock 2 DLC MP trophies, so now I just need to do the single player DLC packs. I think I might go back and finish Bioshock 1 to get the plat. Gotta few other games to finish up as well, For The King, Trine 2, FF7R. All should help my % a lot

I didn’t make as much percentage progress as I initially wanted in August. I started the month strong, finishing up Mass Effect: Legendary Edition and PvZ: Battle for Neighborville. The latter had been looming over my list for nearly two years. I also attempted to work on Sonic Generations, a game my partner started on PSNow years before my trophy hunting began. I swiftly gave up on it; Sonic just isn’t my jam, especially with how janky it is while streaming. What really tanked my progress - albeit I’m still positive this month - was starting two trophy list behemoths: Fallout: New Vegas and Ghost of Tsushima. I plan to continue both of those games this month, and hopefully reach my completion goal before the end of September. As always, thanks for the data and update every month @Squirlruler!

I've really started to make some progress I'm happy with, even though I still don't think I'll reach my end goal.

In August, I:

finished the platinum for MGS 3: Snake Eater, which I was working on through July already
went back and finished South Park: The Fractured But Whole, which had bugged out on me towards the end of the game. All worked fine this time!
finally played Jedi: Fallen Order and got the platinum. I had only completed the tutorial level previously
returned to Ghost of Tsushima for the new content that came out, and am still working on.

For a .52% increase in a month, I'm stoked. My biggest increase to date.

Going forward, I'm looking to finish Ghost of Tsushima off for 100% hopefully. I'll get onto Mass Effect 3, and complete that Legendary Edition list. And if there's still time in the month, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - but I don't know if I have the patience for the platinum there. I'm still really happy with how this challenge has gone for me though! Returned to many game I may not have returned to otherwise, and I'm especially happy that I've gone back!

So this is the month I broke the 5% progress mark! I've played a lot more new games over the past few months (that is to say added them to my profile, not necessarily recent releases), and even been buying more... but I'm still keeping up completions! The games I completed last month were Mass Effect 2, Miles Morales, Downwell and Crash Bandicoot: Warped - Actually half of those completions are down to getting a PS5. Miles for obvious reasons, but Crash 3 wasn't done because I haven't had a copy since the DLC dropped, but the PS+ collection gave me access to finish it up.

This month I plan to wrap up ME3 and by extension the Legendary Edition extra list, do the DLC on Tropico 5 and (maybe) finally complete Soul Sacrifice. I'll likely start NEO TWEWY as well, but beyond that is anyone's guess!

Feel like I can come out of the hole that was triumph trophy in Destiny 2 for the 100% and get back to tackling some single player titles, I did pre-order Diablo 2 so naturally got the D3 included edition. So probably focussing on finishing last half of Dark Souls 2 and getting a good chunk into Diablo 3 this next week. Happy hunting all!!

Yay, finally got myself back to 98% completion! Made some great progress in Shiness and am nearly done with my first playthrough which will net me the majority of the trophies. Then just have to do a second playthrough for the other ending, the no game overs trophy and other cleanup. Will be getting back to chipped away at Flower with short play sessions now that it's September. I'd put it on my list for the Fall/Winter backlog event since I couldn't finish for Gaming by Numbers.

Otherwise, just going to try my best to not start any new games for the time being. My goal right now is to at least finish two that are in progress before I start anything else. Don't really have any upcoming releases I'm planning to get so hopefully I can avoid starting anything else at least in September.

Weekly Update: This week was kind of weird. I finished Gaming by Numbers and didn't plan to get involved with any other events this year to focus on completion and real life stuff. However, the Revenge of the 13 Plats of Halloween caught my attention. It literally fit my plans perfectly. I didn't need to make a single concession to what I wanted to play in the next couple of months. As a matter of fact, it probably will get me to be a bit more ambitious so I could finish 13 things before Halloween. So I joined up for that event. In more mundane news, I had trouble sleeping again. My schedule is still off it's 4:00 AM here and I'm still awake. Also this week, my wife was getting after me about job hunting because we want to relocate to Texas. We had a near tears situation where she was mad I wasn't taking this as seriously as she was. So I finished my resume and registered on some job search websites applied for a dozen or so jobs so she would cheer up and stop nagging me. I also spent a bunch of time messing around with some designs for badges that might be used in some events on the website. Could be some cool stuff coming. I wish more people were around to do awesome badges. I was always jealous of @Kristycism's work, but she hasn't been around for a bit. I'm not the best artist, but I'm messing with creating animated gifs and trying out 3D modeling, which I haven't done much of for almost a decade now. It's crazy to think about. I'm so old. Anyway, it's time for me to get serious about progressing my completion percentage, if I'm going to make my goal of 80% by the end of the year. I even went and made myself a chart like I'd use to track a project in my actual work life. Since I had a weird week, I'm at a disadvantage and I'm projected to miss my goal by about 3% at this rate. So I got to step it up next week. Although, I'd be very happy to be at 77% at the end of the year, I'm shooting for 80%!

The Walking Dead Season One - I think I was up through chapter 4 at the beginning of the week. It didn't take long to finish up the platinum and the DLC episodes. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to getting through all these to season four which I've never played before.
Hades - Finally beat the big guy at the end. It looks like you need to beat the game about a dozen times to get all the parts of the main narrative. There's still a long way to go on this game, but I'm having a lot of fun with it.
A Rose in the Twilight - I was stuck on a puzzle when I last played this, but when typing the weekly update for this event, I had an epiphany and saw the solution in my head. I was able to test it out and got through the puzzle with that brain surge. I didn't do much more than that. I really need to sit down with the Vita and just push through this game in a couple sittings.
Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle- I installed several games to consider for Halloween and last week I posted my plan to just do the Walking Dead Series and the other Friday the 13th game for Halloween to keep game additions low. After that decision, I was uninstalling anything I wouldn't touch for the next couple months, but when I got to this one, I decided it could stay and I began playing it. I shouldn't have, but it almost done already, so at least it won't be a black mark for long.
Hollowknight- I didn't get too far in this. I had a couple rage quits in Deep Nest. I just can't platform when I'm tired. Earlier tonight, though I finally made it to the tram station in the Distant Village. I literally had one health left so I immediately took the tram to Dirtmouth and used the bench to heal. That's where I logged out for the day.

Plans for Upcoming Week: I'm planning to finish Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle and to start and finish The Walking Dead Season Two. In between, I should make some incremental progress on Hades and Hollow Knight.

Weekly update

My weekly update is a day later than normal due to a long weekend. I managed to finish up a couple games this week and then start a couple more that tanked my completion rate. I should be able to complete them this month though and my completion should jump back up to making gains on my goal of 90%. I'll be working on The Stick of Truth this week and Operation: Tango when/if it works out to co-op.

Evoland

Finished up this game and damn what a complete mash up of video gaming history. So many really cool segments that mimic game styles we all grew up with and then having it all wrapped up into a proper game was really cool. Thanks for the suggestion @Inuty as it was a fun ride.

Road to Guangdong

I bought this game after watching for a price drop for quite some time. I'm not really sure what made me think this was going to be a really fun indie at the time but after getting into it it was rather dull. The individual stories were ok and somewhat interesting but the driving from place to place (which was the majority of the game) was just boring and uninspired. I finished this game and you can finish the game in an evening but Id not recommend it as your time is better spent elsewhere.

South Park: The Stick of Truth

Decided I was going to play this game for the 13 Plats of Halloween event and because I just felt like playing something not so intense and I always get a kick out of stupid humour. Ive completed it previously on a different account but wanted to have it on this one as well before I play The Fractured But Whole. Went into it blind and 4-5 hours in I was looking up something in the guide and realized I missed a couple of missable collectibles. Totally forgot about all the missables in this game. I guess it is good I realized now so I can restart before I sink more hours into a full playthrough. It gives me a chance to try out a new class as well so I'm not that bummed at all.

Operation: Tango

Started this up last night with @Spacey Dweeb. So far we are having fun going at the challenges blind. Some of them are a little tricky to convey to the other person what is needed but with some trial and error we haven't had too much difficulty. Hope to continue on this week and maybe wrap it up on the weekend.

September (early) Update:

Returned to my games after a nice summer to see where I left off.

Cat Quest

Really an enjoyable game. Believe it or not, I started this great game back in 2019 and never got back to completing it. Seeing how much fun it was, I regret letting this game collect dust in my backlog. So now it is complete. Sad it is done, but looking to picking up CQ 2 to continue my MEOW journey.

FEZ

A game I really enjoyed, but you really need to set aside some time (and keep notes) on this game. Started this game back in 2017 (!!!) and now getting back to it. Another game that is top in its' genre. Will see about wrapping it up this week.

I am currently at 59.80%. Not impressive, but I think I'm going to do some damage on the backlog this year!

Hey fellow trophy hunters,

Back from holiday although I have a small break from Sun- Wed (motor trip) before I am 100% back in the saddle. Still had time to do some gaming. And actually made some great progress

AC III + DLC (2/4) - PS3

Finished the 2nd SP DLC. Bit the same thing over again. Almost there, hope that I can get the last MP trophy of the first DLC.

Lord of the Fallen (1/1) - PS4

Played this game 4 years ago and I had still two runs to go. Bought the DLC a couple of weeks back in a sales (1,49 ?) so nothing stood between me and the 100%....well some monster did. Actually enjoyed the second run a lot. Had to do all collectibles trophies so did the whole game including all side mission. Played the DLC halfway as you have to defeat the end boss with a DLC weapon for a trophy. And this is when thing went too easy. I had a faith build and got a weapon that scaled with faith from the DLC. Made my life bit too easy. My third run was a NG+ and I only went from boss to boss (no side missions) , took me less than 3 hours to beat the game again. Really really happy with this shiny platinum, with 4.2% an ultra rare on this site.

Battlefield 4 (0/5) - PS4

With the upcoming BF on the horizon I thought it would be a good thing to wrap this one up. Got the platinum on the PS3 version and had all the MP trophies for the base game already. My plan is to platinum the base game and will not bother with the DLC, unless they are easy pick ups. Currently playing it on hard + collectibles.
