The Ultra Rare Cleanup 2021

I have completed Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and therefore that means my Tier 1 is complete! I can head off to Tier 2 now.

 

 

 

I'd like to share something funny with what happened to me. Apparently, a notorious trophy in the game is "Mein Leben" where you had to clear the game in the hardest difficulty (I am Death Incarnate) with permadeath setting. You die, you start all over again. I finally managed to clear it but the game crashed in the cutscene that happens after (The one where BJ opens the door to the main Odin control area before the final General Engel area). I was a little frustrated about it, but I tried it one more time and the game didn't crash this time around (I made sure that Wolf II was the very first game I played when I turned my PS4 on and that was my first play for the day).

 

Before the 1st "winning" Mein Leben run, I actually cleared "I am Death Incarnate" 2 times in a row from a new game without dying, so technically that means I did Mein Leben 4 times in a row (!!!). All that trouble just for a bronze trophy. ?

 

Anyhow, that concludes my relatively brutal Tier 1.

So... having come to realize that trying to set up Mugen Souls as a milestone has basically all but ruined my will to actually play on my Playstation consoles, not to mention the fact that my insistence on making it a milestone when I'm literally two plats away from said milestone is gonna interfere hard with multiple games I want to play ASAP at this point (namely both the Nep X Senran Kagura crossover and Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania), I'm just gonna declare my Tier 3 now and officially make Mugen Souls either not a milestone at all or just whatever milestone it happens to line up with whenever I finally get to it.

 

Tier 3

• Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout - 91%

Game plan for now will be to grind out however many rounds I still need from Fall Guys for that plat and then clear the last chart I need for the Xonic plat for #700, after which I will likely go ahead and unleash the five other plats I left one action off from a trophy in (none of which are UR, unfortunately).

Very glad this one is over. I had fun at first with it, but that quickly turned into frustration with the fact that the hyper-competitive nature of the game feels at odds with the amount of bullshit that can happen at any given time whether due to chaos-centric level design or just other players being dicks with the grab mechanic and/or just outright blocking shit. The custom lobby exploit and the Hoverboard Heroes show from a while back did help quite a lot with some of the more annoying trophies, which is likely the only way I would've ever bothered with this considering it's difficult to even get legit wins, let alone five in a row.

 

In any case, time to get my milestone...

Superbeat Xonic (Vita): 100% (Plat #700!)

It's no Mugen Souls, but it's still a damn fine plat for #700 considering it's one of the hardest Vita rhythm plats.

What a ride! Fantastic game and an absolute joy to play through both of the "proper" Trials games back to back in my quest to complete tier 1. Definitely eyeing up Trials of the Blood Dragon now, despite being heavily warned not to play it ?

Awesome game that was a bit harder than anticipated. One Hard Get There took me 6 hours to do. But then again, I suck at games that require combo button inputs.
 

Luckily you don’t have to finish all challenges as that is above my skill level. Also an annoying grind at the end for me. Now if you’re good at the game you can just do all the hard challenges and cut down grinding time to lvl 100 immensely.

Completed my fourth game which was Infinite Minigolf on the 8th of September; so now my third tier looks like the following:

Since I should have the North American version of Starwhal (0.94%) completed by the end of the day I would like to swap it for Medal Of Honor, thus finishing the tier. The trophies for Starwhal are 78% done.

A rare double update for me. Skullgirls and Minecraft complete, if only temporarily for both of them most likely. Will probably start BB this weekend or next week. Despite the server closure nothing changes for me with LBP since I finished the online just under the wire. Although now I’ll have to do the X4 prize bubbles with 4 controllers on my own. That’s going to be a pain.

Hellooo  Remember my post from a couple of days back? Well, Tier 3 finished! 

 

 

RAD was the last game I was missing. The method I was testing for forcing specific things to happen actually worked, and so I managed to save around 50 hours for the plat, which is pretty nice ? @zajac9999 you said that you are going to play this eventually, and @Joe Dubz has already been awesome enough to update the guide with the method for saving some time  Hope you'll enjoy the game when you get around to it! 

 

Anyways, RAD...It's a pretty stylish rogue-like whose man gimmick is that the player character mutates over the course of a run, gaining both passive abilities (take no damage from ground fire, crit more often, et..) and active abilities. The mutations of course affect how the player looks like, and I thought that that was really well made. 

The game itself is pretty easy to get into, and even though there are only three worlds to get through, a single run will take about 1.5-2 hours when starting out, though eventually you will be completing a single run in roughly an hour. 

 

For the plat, you need to fill every single entry in the Tome of the Ancients.. That is, finding every single consumable item, every possible mutation, defeating every single boss (there are only 8 bosses or so, and still I saw one of them only ONCE in 50 hours of gameplay...), completing all possible tasks for each of the three factions... And pretty much everything is just RNG. The grind in this game is real ? And while the clean-up soured my experience with the game, I am still glad that I gave it a chance, since there is a lot to like here  It's just not necessarily completionist-friendly! 

 

 

As for my next tier... Well, these are the games I want to play... I will probably be busy with this tier for the remainder of the year, since I want to play other non-UR games as well:

Update, I finally finished Worms Battlegrounds. Absolutely the worst game I have played this year, controls bad, enemies have aim bot AI and if they can, they will hit you, terrible level design, terrible pop culture references in between turns (I actually played everything on mute while listening to a podcast, it was that annoying). The DLC was also pretty bad, with it's final level having one of the worst level designs I ever saw in a game.

 

Now, on a more positive note, I want to switch Yakuza 0 for Fallen Legion: Flames of Rebellion. Heard the game was pretty good and laid back, maybe the perfect break after playing Worms.
