This thread is funny as fuck.

Hey guys ? Did you know ? that censorship ? is bad ?

Like holy shit the floor is made of floor. How many threads do we need about censorship? Like yeah, MS and Sony can get bent but there's nothing we can do about it.

I mean, censorship in some cases is fine.

this has nothing to do with Sony and MS didn't do it because of them, stop with this nonsense already, these are rules imposed by many territories now that EVERYBODY has to comply to them in order to do business, and that includes Steam and Nintendo too, Nintendo has done plenty of censorship already in their own games like Smash, Xenoblade and others, right now they let 3rd party run wilder but that is a timed bomb for them so it's on them

Not when you take into account the third point, which is that they are fictional beings. Trying to connect it to real life pervs and rapists saying “she looked adult” is disingenuous. In this piece of fiction, what the characters appear to be is what they are because they only exist as an appearance.

Why hasn't this thread been locked already?

Someone's sleeping at the wheel.

Because it’s a serious discussion about MS moving towards the same censorship policies that Sony have implemented. Why would you want the conversation closed?

Clearly it is everything to do with Sony and MS new puritanical policies and NOTHING to do with the laws of any country. Or do you think Nintendo are breaking the law? Where Sony and MS breaking the law earlier in the last generation and prior?

Then work on convincing people of that third point instead. Your first and second points are essentially useless because if someone is convinced that attraction to anime girls is one-to-one with someone's attraction to actual people, you sound like someone trying to justify ephebophilia, and if people didn't hold that mindset, we wouldn't even be here because people would know better than to equate their personal discomfort with something with actual ethical issues.

The closer games get to kiddy porn, the more people might feel that way. /shrug

It must be so sad for children to know that their worth as human beings is equivalent to that of pixels in a video game.

I'm very interested to hear your argument for lusting after children in games... they're just pixels right?

YES, Nintendo right now is ignoring the rules and Sony was letting Japanese 3rd party devs ignore the rules early this gen and last gen just like Nintendo is right now, these are global guidelines, these Japanese devs either get down with it or get laid down, period, this is not about sexual material, you can have as much sexual material as you want in any game, Metro Exodus, Cyberpunk, TLOU2, and more, the line is at characters that appear to be young and/or in school, it's irrelevant if they are a "300 year old dragon actually in human form" if they look like a kid that's in school you've crossed the line, period

Yeah, and?

I mean, humanity in games are in some capacity inspired by humanity in real life.  You aren't gonna go to jail, but I dunno if you want to carry this conversation too much further lol.

Ah, the old, clichéd "It causes people to become child molesters! Source: Dude, trust me." retort.

edit: mods should lock this thread, tired of looking at it constantly lol. Can I get my two hours back lmao, this started off as a topic about censorship that devolved into people accusing one another of being pedos and political shit, devils advocates, etc. lol wut

No one in here actually gives a shit about what MS does. No actual conversation is going on. We started this thread at people calling other people that are into cartoons pedophiles. Going up from there was never an option. Why would you want it to stay open?

It's really interesting how we've evolved over the last couple of years. 10 years ago this game wasn't an issue to many people but now, now it is an issue.

The question many seem to asking, indirectly, is this: do fictional characters have rights? It seems bizarre but that is what this boils down to for me.

I wasn't aware this game existed 10 years ago.

It's not a concern for the rights or well-being of fictional children, but the mindset of those who lust after them.
