Website feature explanation

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

First post as I am moving over to this site from Playstation Trophies given the weird and wonderful update they are currently undergoing. Anyhoo, just a quick query re: website features.

So, if i click on "TROPHIES" in the top navigation bar, there is a list generated. Hover over any of those games/trophies and the % and rarity generally decreases. What is the reason for that?

Cheers and look forward to many more posts (game related in future).

By default it will list the rarity depending on all tracked profiles here on PSNP. On hover it will list the rarity fetched from Sony's PSN API. You can change the behaviour in the settings (click on your name in the top right corner if you're on the trophy page and click settings) to show Sony rarity by default and PSNP on hover, though.

Hello and welcome.

The rarity displayed by default is for the website itself, as in how rare it is among the game owners in the website.

When you hover over each trophy it and it shows the "pyramid", it's the rarity for PSN, meaning for every user who owns the game on PSN.

Thank you very much for the quick replies.

To clarify by "PSN", this would be the lower of the numbers as it is the total across all owners (including those not registered to this website)? which would make sense that the higher figure is a lower proportion of owners and only those people registered on this site.

Cheers,

Cheers,

Exactly, PSN numbers include every owner of the game. The large number include accounts only registered to this website. Generally, PSNP numbers are a better estimate of how difficult a trophy is. Almost everyone here is a trophy hunter so registered accounts are willing to go for those trophies, whereas the PSN numbers are very low because not many care about trophies or even bother completing a game.

Welcome to the site btw.
