Nieird
I found my fat ps3 and but it doesn't boot anymore. If I take out the hard drive and use a 2.5" Sata to plug it in my other ps3 can I play the games thats on it. If it work, I might have 1 or 2 majhong trophies on it what will happen to them? driscio
Pretty sure that the PS3 would just recognise it as an external disk and ask you to format it as external storage. If you swapped the disk out with the one inside the other console and booted it then provided it can be updated to the current FW you could sign in to PSN and sync the trophies before doing whatever you want with the disk.
ZitMeatloaf
Ps3's that don't boot anymore often have capacitors which have failed. Might be worth looking into repair shops who can examine the capacitors and put in new ones if that's indeed the problem, might be able to get the whole system working again.

Iiah
if you put hdd into any other ps3 then it will prompt to reformat it. info on the hard drive is only accessible on the original console.
