KYC 15 (Starts 1st of March 2021 and ends 31st of March 2021)

 

 

Welcome back for another exciting edition of the Kill Your Completion series. This is the 15th iteration, so most of you probably have an idea of what goes on here, but if you are new to the site or this corner of the forums, here's the previous edition of the thread KYC 14.

 

 

The Premise
Participants will each choose a list of at least 5, and up to 10 0% games (or any number in.between) from their backlog and post them here so everyone can follow along. These games don't have to be pre loaded on your profile, as long as you own them already and haven't earned a trophy they count. Participants will start a new game from that list every few days for the next month. They WILL then post their thoughts on each game, and write a short review on the final day for each game. This can take any shape or form each person desires.

 

 

The starting time is whenever the 1st of March begins for you.

 

 

 

The Deeds

Desire to be part of something fun. 
A complete and utter dis-regard for your completion rate (for the next month)

How to Join
Say you want in
Post your list of the games YOU ALREADY OWN that you haven't started.
Post your completion percent for S&G.

Game Selection Suggestions
These are just suggestions, this will have no bearing on you being added to the event. These are just things that I think make for a more interesting selection of games overall.
- Variety is The Spice...: Try to avoid having more than 1 or 2 of the same type of game on there.
- Try Something New or Different - A list filled with AAA games/remasters that you've already played, from only two different series, is boring.
- Don't choose all games that all have average completion times under 10 hours: You're not fooling anybody. Sneaky participant is not sneaky.

 

TL;DR

• final day of sign ups will be the 1st of March (2021)
• the event begins whenever the 1st of March begins in your timezone
• pick 5 - 10 games that are at 0% and play them during the respective amount of days (examples: 5 games/6days each ; 10 games/3 days each).
• Games have to be a 0%, no exceptions.
• don't pick only short and easy games, that's not the point of this even.
• post your list of games
• do yourself a favour and install/preload your games on the system. Less time wasted for patches to download, etc
• each game should be played for at least 3 hours total, throughout the X number of days allocated to them (equal number of days for each game)
• write a review/impression/thoughts on the game you played, before moving on to the next one (final review is mandatory, regular updates are optional)
• If you don't want to miss the start of the event, follow the thread

Going to concentrate on the Vita this month, as I still have a ton of games that are unplayed on that platform. Here's a preliminary list:

I think all of these except Dragon Sinker are physical copies so there should be no problems with space on the Vita for any of them (and Dragon Sinker is already downloaded and has been for months). Only thing now is to complete Mask of Deception (which I will be doing now) before starting its sequel sometime during the month.

Here's a poll of 10 games, out of which 5 can pe picked. I'll only aim to play 6 games total during this KYC. So one will be up to me, and the 5 with most votes will be the remaining games I'll play.

I'd also like to focus on my Vita backlog, but I'll still throw in a game from my other systems too. My list:

I won't explain or excuse myself for not participating on other KYC although I miss the reviews and thoughts on the games so I quite regret it.

 

SOooo to start things at a steady pace I'm going to choose 6 games , for five days each.

I am hoping to be done with the Uncharted 4 Crushing playthrough trophy before this KYC starts up. Why Naughty Dog do we need to do three play throughs? Why???

Yay it's that time again I'm definitely signing up again this time around, this time I'm going for a more ps3 themed list that doesn't mean the game has to be only on ps3 I will count remasters/remakes of ps3 games for example Bioshock remastered or ps4 versions of ps3 games like Borderlands also there might be one exception to this theme toward the end depending on how the rest of the month goes any way look forward to participating again. This time I really want to work on my backlog so I'm aiming for 10 entries these are games I've either never played or haven't played in over 10 years so this should be interesting.

I'm not sure how many I can actually complete, as my platinum hunting style tends to be extremely erratic, but this event looks like it should stack nicely with that other Spring Backlog event. Additionally, I'm a very distracted gamer, so games usually take at least twice as long as the estimate for me, lol.

Okay, just going to go ahead and call the results of my poll since it hasn't received any new votes in a few days now.  Had a tie between Dragon Star Varnir and Valiant Hearts: The Great War for third, but I'm not playing 6 games.  So I'm declaring Valiant Hearts: The Great War the winner of the tie because any time a tie wasn't present it was in the lead.  Otherwise everyone really seemed set on having me play Trials of Mana and Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom.

I think I want to join. But finishing my list of games that will make me question my existence is proving difficult. Lol. 3/5 are pretty much set:

Killzone Shadow Fall

 

But I don't know for sure what other 2 to add. If I'd seen this sooner, might have done a poll. Would also be nice if there was a quick way to see which games have the lowest plat percentage, but I can't think of any.. Ones I considered adding are: BlazBlue: Chronophantasma Extend, Dark Rose Valkyrie, Dreams, Pac-Man Championship Edition 2, Super Time Force Ultra, The Bit. Trip, Unravel 2, Velocity 2x, and Ys Origins. Really based on nothing other than their platinum percentages, so they may not even be the worst games I could choose. I may have some that are lower, but I missed them (it's a very long list), they're too multiplayer focused, or they had their servers shut down and I'll probably never play them. 

 

Could still do a poll, I suppose. Just wouldn't be up very long.

I’ve got about 15 games I really want to try, but not enough time to pull that many off this KYC. Is it pathetic I might have my July list already set?

Here’s the Schedule:

1. Garfield Kart (March 1-3). Clicks two boxes with being kid-friendly and a driving game.
2. Concrete Genie (March 4-6). Gets rid of PS+ backlog. And yes, I know VR is required for two trophies, but don’t care about dlc.
3. Peaky Blinders (March 7-9). Like the name, I’m going in blind to this game.  I think it’s puzzle-related.
4. Snow Moto Racing Freedom (10-12). More racing games! Found this cheap on a recent sale.
5. Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love (13-18). An Artifex Mundi title that doesn’t follow the typical formula
6. A Tale of Paper (19-21). Looks like Unravel. But hopefully easier. ?
    
7. Sudden Strike 4 (22-24) An Ultra Rare plat. Looks like RT war strategy. 
8. Far Cry 5 (25-27) Clicks the AAA box
9. Lego Harry Potter Years 4-7 (28-29) Been way too long since I’ve played a Lego game
10. Ken Follet’s Pillars of the Earth (30-31) checks the Historical game box. 

 

That is LOADS of trophies to add to the backlog. And just when I will get my completion percentage back up to 90%

It's a pretty solid point-and-click game. A lot more serious than the goofy Deponia or Edna & Harvey series, that Daedelic might be mainly known for.
