Why do people keep quitting during Chess

I usually play the explorer and I've had the achievement guide open for the solution to the puzzle. But every public game I join winds up having the other person quit just as I get the generator going for the chess level. I make sure that the arrow always hits green 3 times in a row and I hit the crank so there's been no mistakes made up to that point. 

 

I've had like around 8 games always go this way. Is there something I'm missing? I know mics are currently buggy for PS4 but clearly the other players can hear me because of the colored door puzzle/valve solution.

It's because they can't do the 3rd move. At least that's why I can't finish it with a friend. Can't move the bishop more than one spot when it needs to be three.
