Noob question about 2.5" hard disks in laptops

Hello there, I am sorry for my ignorance about, so I ask..

I have two old laptops (one of 2008, with Windows Vista, and the other one, 2012, Windows 7).

Since I don't use them anymore, I was thinking about this:

Is there any USB device that can allow you to connect HDD laptops, same as an external hard drive? To connect it to my actual computer of course, and use them as external storage?

Thanks for your answer

Edit: I maybe found it... This thing can work right?

Yes, of course, there is plenty of them,

First you need to check if your 2.5' discs are with IDE interface or SATA...

Ok, not even needed: I found an universal adapter:
