Popular Post Ghost-TeamX
As there's hardly any information about this game's trophies/achievements, I wanna provide a little overview of what's to expect from this platinum. Difficulty: 7-8/10 This platinum is no joke. Completing the individual campaigns on survivor mode is a real challenge and requires a very good strategy and understanding of the game's mechanics. But what makes the game truly challenging is the dynamic nature of each playthrough. Things escalate really quickly in this game and smartly adapting to your situation is what makes or breaks a run. There is no definitive path, overpowered buildings or auto-win strategies. The hardest part of this plat are definitely the survivor runs on "Refugees" and "Fall of Winterhome". Time to platinum: 80h-150h This is a pretty wide range and I usually dislike when guides are so vague about the actual time expense. But in particular case, it is really hard to estimate because a playthrough can take up to 15h and failing such a run after putting 10h+ will quickly bump up the overall time. In theory you will need at least 15 runs. Some of them will take as little as 2-3 hours(the easy runs), while the endless mode for example(which I count as 1 run) will easily take you 15h on extreme difficulty. Difficulty trophies do not stack in this game, but this is not as bad as it sounds at first, because the experience from the hard runs will come in very handy for survivor mode. So there's 4 campaigns and each needs to be completed on hard and survivor mode and additionally there's a misc. trophies, which is very hard to achieve on higher difficulties so a separate easy/normal run as your first run for each campaign is highly recommended. So thats 4 campaigns x 3 playthroughs = 12 runs. Then there's the extreme difficulty endless run(trophies stack here) and another run in serenity mode(basically an easy version of endless mode) for the 700 population(only achievable in this mode due to population caps). An playthrough #15 would be your first blind run of the first campaign "A New Home". According to the site exophase I had 85h overall playtime. However I know several other people who took way above 100 hours to complete this game. And to be fair, I did look up some information/tips on reddit, which of course helped a bit. Tips/Base strategy: Depending on the scenario, you will have more or less engineers, but the most important thing in the beginning is to build one or two workshops and start with your research. Research speed and especially research order is the most important thing on the harder difficulties. The hardest and most crucial part of every playthrough is always the first 10 days. If you survive that period your researched "perks" will eventually outweigh the constant increase in difficulty(game becomes colder and colder as time progresses). The second most important thing in the early game is scouting. The research "beacon" should always be your first research and you should immediately send out a scout team to look for new people and resources. You won't have enough workforce in the beginning to handle the full economy and until you bring in a few survivor groups with your scouts you will always have shortages. Build orders(This section is for players familiar with the mechanics as I will not go into details about the terms): Research: Beacon, Faster Gathering, Drawing Boards(unlocks next level reaserach), Walldrill I always try to rush the walldrill. It's much more effective than sawmills and will take care of your whole wood demands for a very long time without the need for additional upgrades. Feel free to spend your first steam core here Then Hunters Gears, Heaters/Steam Hubs, Steelworks, Coal Thumper, Infirmaries(or go for Healing House law), Flying Hunters After the Walldrill, this it's not a definitive order. It depends on the scenario, your current resource situation and potential incoming temperature drops. Another tip is to never use range increase for the generator. It's highly ineffective and will quickly challenge your coal economy. Better use steam hubs and group your buildings smartly. Laws: Emergency Shifts(use those on workshops for the first one or two nights), Extended Shifts(extremely op, 40% longer shift period for just one small discontent rise), Childworkers - Safe Jobs(not on Arks scenario), Radical Treatment, Overcrowding(this is also a must on higher difficulties as the sick will swarm your heath care infrastructure), Soup(you need either soup or sawmill dust, otherwise people will starve. You won't be able to provide enough food early on if playing on higher difficulties) At this point I mostly need to build the snowpit if someone died already. If you have dead people, you need to build a snowpit cemetary immediately, otherwise the corpses will infect other people. I always go with the snowpit, because the followup law which increases medial efficiency by 20% is really strong. Wood: One or two standard wall drills are enough for every scenario. As said before, I usually rush the wall drill, which gives you lots of wood early on and wood generally drives the early game. Coal: I prefer coal thumpers/gathering posts over coal mines because you won't have to research as much and you can gradually increase your workforce and adapt to your current coal needs. Steel: Steel is not that important early on, but I mostly get shortages when researching the higher tiers and building solid houses in the endgame. Try upgrading your stellworks when there's space, but don't prioritize it too much Food: Don't bother with hothouses(aside form Arks scenario). Get the hunters gear upgrade as soon as possible and upgrade to flying hunters as the situation allows it. Health Care: If you got with Faith Law Path, there's the Healing Houses which are pretty much Infirmaries without the need for Engineers. This building is very useful. If you have enough steam cores and engineers you can also go with the Infirmaries. Finally I want to say that this game is true masterpiece and the best strategy game I have ever played aside from Age of Empires II(which will always be the king^^). It was worth every second and I can't wait for the DLCs to arrive on console Edited February 27, 2021 by Ghost-TeamX
