Faction Points?

How do I know how many faction points I have in this game? The first time I got to pick, I went with the mob, which I assume is one point from picking. But is there a way to check or anything like that?

You can see your faction points on the right-hand side on the map screen

Pretty sure once you join a faction, you get a point for every vehicle you destroy.

Thanks for those answers. Is there a way to switch factions later on? So that way, I can get the other points needed for the other faction.

You are able to change factions each time you do the 'Power Restart' / prestige mechanic. Also from my experience you don't need to save 1000 faction points in one run, it appears to be accumulative.
