Apparently Postal 1 & 3 aren't that great but 2 is meant to be a lot of fun :).

Postal 3 was awful, was done by a different developer and was that bad that even the devs of 1 and 2 act like it doesn't exist. Also Postal 1 was a top down shooter type game where as Postal 2 was an sandbox fps game, it also is rather screwed up in places but doesn't take itself at all serious. Look it up sometime.

Postal 2 was fantastic, I sure would love to play a remastered version.

If you thought the backlash on Postal 2 was bad in the past... I couldn't imagine that game being released under today's level of scrutiny.

I hope it gets released in the near future with all the expansions.

Given Sony’s new policy with no dismemberment violence, Postal 2 could not happen. Frankly a bit surprised this one made it past the censors.

Postal 1 is amazing - especially this version with a few bonus extras.

I liked 3 but it wasn't by the same developer, so it lost some of its charm. The latest one, no regerts, is supposed to be okay.

But the first game, it's so much fun. Played it on switch a few months back and on pc when it originally launched. It's just mindless slaughter of anything that moves. It even has a Hatred filter so it looks like you're playing that!

Is that official policy tho, or just stories passed down from "sources" 1f914.png

So I just looked up this policy, so far it is only affecting one game and that seems to be a Naruto game.

Sony is asking developers to remove violent depictions in video games. This comes from the Japanese development studio Cyberconnect2’s President and CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama who states that Sony compelled the developers to make changes in the Naruto Ultimate series. One of the characters in the game, Minato Namikaze, was missing an arm in the original story. However, in the final game, his arm was present to comply with Sony’s policies.

Can you imagine if it affected the next Mortal Kombat game?

So there was a character that had lost his arm, but that was too much? It wasn’t that they removed a scene where he graphically loses the arm, just the fact that  there was a character that had one arm.

Does Sony hate amputees/disabled people?

Sir Hammerlock is a character in Borderlands 2 that is also missing an arm (replaced by a robot one). Junkrat from Overwatch has a peg leg. Bently the turtle in Sly Cooper is paralyzed. Solid Snake lost an eye. Why are these character depictions okay but not Minato Namikaze?

It’s funny, I don’t think I’ve met a single person that didn’t like Postal 2, I remember buying the 1st on PC long ago, than when I saw Postal on the PS store for $9.99... instant purchase... I never did play the DLC levels I lol at the Walmart level... but beating all 23 levels on Nightmare and also Perfect all Rampage levels..... it won’t be an easy platinum, but it does bring back memories, first time I think a mouse and keyboard would work better than a controller... and I prefer consoles over pc... I haven’t even played a pc game in like a decade

I'm not going to get too deep into this because I want this thread to remain civil but ever since Sony moved their HQ to California in 2016, they have become more and more puritanical towards certain games originating from Japan and Asia, whilst hypocritically allowing the same content to pass unhindered in Western made games.

The same story mentions that another game by the same company featured dismemberment.

Quite notable of all is the fact that SIE has allowed such depictions in certain games. Matsuyama mentions that Dragon Ball Z Kakarot has a sequence in which Nappa’s arm was dismembered. Surprisingly, this wasn’t omitted from the game because there is a difference in impressions between the two games. What this difference isn’t mentioned, but it’s likely the fact that the Naruto series has a more realistic tone. Whether this policy is specific to Japanese video games isn’t clear.

The reasons for Sony asking CyberConnect2 to not feature dismemberment in a Naruto game can't be as reductive as it being Japanese, since it didn't even apply to other games from CyberConnect2.
