sxie0212
Got my own on day one but have been trying hard to get one for my buddy recently. Got it couple weeks ago on Amazon. HotStock is my best friend, the alert is immediate and easier follow than twitter user alert.
MrGarland
Nothing too special. My younger brother received an email from a certain electronics store and told him that on a day X, they would get a stock of PS5. When he got the said notification, he made an order and actually managed to secure one. Lucky for him, since they were gone in a matter of minutes. This is where I come in. Since he already owns one (which he's actively using), he asked me first if I wanted the one he ordered. It was a tough decision, but ultimately we made a deal and he sold it for me. Not for free or anything, but the price he paid... and some extra. I didn't know the actual price until I got home and checked the receipt he gave. I won't hate him or anything because he charged a bit of extra. In fact, I respect him even after all these years. I'd say he did me a favor by getting that and saving me from trouble of getting one. I've already passed my thanks to him when I went to pick it.
Lava_Yuki
I got mine in a twitter competition. A uk PS5 restock alert tweeted that if you retweet, comment and like one their posts, you will be ina chance of 2 winner to get a VIP code to purchase a PS5 in Currys (UK electronic store). I happened to be one of the two winners, although I was abroad so I could not get it before the deadline. In frantic desperation, I messaged a friend. Initially I offered her the code to get it for herself as I was away and the deadline would pass by the time I got back, but she said she doesn't want one but will buy it for me and I can pay her back. She was driving back in the morning from a night shift so she got one of the bundles with the headphones for me, I was eternally grateful to her, as I probably would not have been able to without her and would have wasted my VIP code.
Biertje373
So my story isn't anything interesting but still a story is a story. I got my PS5 on launch, I did watch the stream where they released the price and releasedate so I sent the amount of required money from my savings to my main bank because I couldn't really trust my phone and I am glad that I did because my phone decided to disconnect and the battery of my phone was empty, so setting a lot of alarms was pointless. Luckily (probably because I was nervous) I woke up at 5 AM, so there I was refreshing the page of the store where I bought most of consoles and lo and behold after 2-3 hours of refreshing I was able to buy the PS5. And I am so glad that I did, I wouldn't have been able to play Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which I had to get day 1. Like I said, not very interesting, but I look back on that day of ordering the PS5 and receiving it with a huge smile. 22 minutes ago, Lava_Yuki said: I got mine in a twitter competition. EverythingOnFire
Got an "exclusive invitation" email from Sony back in October. I got it about 18(?) hours in advance, and spent then next 17 hours racking my brain, not certain if I wanted to spend that much money on something I wasn't exactly longing to get. For me personally, the current game library doesn't make the system a must-have. In the end though, it just made sense to buy it. It was easy, and for all I knew it could be another year or two before I got another chance, as I refuse to buy anything from scalpers. Crazy thing is, I waited in queue for 40 minutes or so, went to the product page as soon I was allowed, and it showed as being sold out. I was like WTF!? In frustration, I hit refresh a few times, and luckily it finally showed up as available. Fastest checkout of my life. It's interesting to me that I almost missed out on it due to what I'll call a Sony glitch. I feel bad for all the people that day who didn't try hitting that refresh button. Alantor32
Got my PS5 from my sister when she ordered two for my nephew who is her son. I managed to pay her for my PS5 yesterday and enjoyed every bit of it.
Jelly Soup
Similar to others, I got that exclusive invitation e-mail. Was allowed in about five minutes after the queue started. Periodically checked my account over the next several hours to see if they actually sent a charge through before I got a formal shipping notice. Nothing too special here, outside of the lucky queue placement.
Snerlord
I go to my Fred Meyers every Thursday (this was on 12/31/2020), for baseball cards before work, that's when they restock. if I don't scalpers get them all before by the time I go to lunch. So i walk up to the electronic counter. (thats where they kept the sports cards). and he is shaking his head. saying we didn't get a shipment today, but I got something better for you. ( he knows i was looking for one) and pulls out the PS5. I was so overjoyed. I called out of work to set it up. I went back to the store while it was updating, and gave the guy a Joe Burrow Rookie Auto card i had pulled earlier in the year (he was from Cincinnati and loved Joe Burrow) it made his day, just as much as he made mine. TWOLF2016
I preordered 3 of them one for myself and each of my brothers and then I picked them up on launch day from the store.
sephiroth4424
It took me around 3 weeks of checking the webstores of every big store in my country. Checking every hour, since when they became available, it would last for 10-30 minutes. What i realized is that those stores never got stock of ps5s. They were getting orders online only and then Sony sent them either to the customers or to the physical stores just for the customer to receive from the register. They are selling ONLY bundles, always with a second controller and 1 or 2 games. Those games are Demons Souls, Ratchet & Clank, Tsushima, Spiderman Morales, Death Stranding and something that starts with All Star. Worst part is that they only accept payment via card which i don't have. Now how i got mine? I kept refreshing the webpage of one store and while it was loading i managed to check Payment IN the store. You can't choose that payment for the ps5 normally. Since that gave me an #order they couldn't do anything other than making it happen. When i went to the store they couldn't believe i would pay with cash. I got it with a second controller (black) and Demons Souls. Cost 609 euros. Fucking Sony, making me beg to pay them 600+ euros
theSpirae
Placed the order on day one, got it a few months later.
EAFC_Rico
I got a tax rebate from my work. I had been overpaying tax for a while and at the end of October got a decent amount back through my wage. That same morning I got an email from BT to say that they had console bundles in stock and they were ready to be delivered the next day… Quite lucky I got the tax rebate to be honest otherwise I’d still probably be playing on my PS4 ?
