MatThaRiPP3R84
This game was not what I expected, all the guides say it's an absolute cakewalk but i guess they must have allot of experience with this type of game. however with persistance and more patience then im capable of usually tbh im getting there, this game is crazy Edited March 22, 2021 by MatThaRiPP3R84
NoobSmog
Not sure what difficulty you are playing on but the guides have to be assuming you are playing on casual. The game is no joke on veteran, and the final episode with zangetsu solo almost made me rage change to casual. It's brutal.
MatThaRiPP3R84
Casual and Veteran switching based on mood. gramory is a prick so I did that bitch on casual, only boss i had serious trouble with was first end boss second phase, forgot dominique could stab upwards that sucked. that end boss solo is going to take a fair few hours practice i think, and im not looking forward to ex mode because the new characters aren't that good imo. i got to like 6th boss in ex mode and realised i need to do episode 3 first to upgrade zangetsu, guide rated the game at 2.5 diff and 12 hr completion. maybe if you've previously set world records on castlevania. Raccoon_Peddler
the platinums are usually rated by how hard it is to get the trophies while rarely having the games difficulty in mind unless the game is brutal...also isnt there no missable or at least very little? that would explain the platinum difficulty
GYTPOW
I guess most of the people who bought this game knew what they were in for. It's a sequel and very similar in difficulty to the first one (although some parts can be brutal). Kind of a connoseurs game too. Sekiro plat was way harder imo,but has a similar completion %. For similar reasons as this game I guess.

I have to admit, though, that I felt this way a couple of times. Some of the bosses are nightmarish. The lava snake has the cheapest death move I’ve seen in a long time. I make very slow progression this one.
StraightVege
Just finished this, and I thought it was a noticeable step up in difficulty compared to the first game. Using the appropriate characters and sub-weapons for the situation seems far more important this time. There are a number of tricky rooms and bosses in certain scenarios. Thankfully, you have infinite lives to practice with on the Casual setting, and several character abilities are overpowered enough to trivialize content: Alfred - Voltaic Ray (lightning) spell obliterates bosses; Burning Sphere nullifies most projectiles. Gebel - Bat form makes traversing otherwise dangerous rooms a breeze. Hachi - Invincible ability is great for tanking tough screens and bosses. Miriam - Axe sub-weapon is still a good boss killer. Ultimate Zangetsu - Devil Essence (aura) sub-weapon turns his jump attack into a boss shredder.
steel6burgh
one thing is or sure it's harder than the 2.5 difficulty rating over at the other website that has the guide up rated it. they are basically telling you its like playing a slight step above a Telltale game. one of the worst difficulty rating i've ever seen published in a guide. i haven't finished it yet but it's feeling a bit more like a 5 or 6 to me. It's a lot of fun though so I think that is why people probably fight through and finish it.
Maverick6146
Agree with the opinion that this is definitely NOT a 2.5 difficulty game. 6 or 7 to me as I suck at these platforming games. This is probably the last retro game I will be attempting, really got tired of the MIDI music and things on screen I can't even distinguish... EightBitArtist
i was able to beat the game in 1 sitting first go. i think the plat difficulty is about right, but i grew up playing NES games.
