Sony files patent to unlock trophies through emulation

Sony may patent a lot of things, but at least it may give hope to more backwards compatibility. God if I could play my PS1 games on the ps5, even if I have to rebuy them, I'd be happy

I hope this means something good, but with the threat of the closure of the ps3 and vita stores, I wonder how this will work? Would this only be applied to any *new* emulations they do? Not necessarily things like PS1/PS2 classics?

might have and if it does happen might have to rethink my milestone trophy list.
Would like to have another platinum for Okami, a  platinum for Killer7, Second Sight, Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2 Platinum and Legend of Spyro Trilogy platinums as well maybe some older games like Dragon Rage(Although think the company that made the game is long gone, so not sure if that would work or not) and maybe platinum for Ecco the Dolphin Defender of the Future as well.

Discussed in the thread above and the patent is a refresh of a patent filed the first time in 2012.

If that means more reason for Sony to emulate old titles, I'm all for it.

To play and earn the Platinum for Dragon Quest 8 Journey Of The Cursed King on PS4/PS5 would be brilliant.
