@grimydawg___ for defense, do you play mainly on-ball or off-ball? I generally play off-ball (cheese but let you the computer do the work for you) but against 99 MJ, etc. forget it, they will score automatically even if you try to play help defense.  Is there a set defense alignment you use?

 

I think scoring is generally pretty easy with good cards but shutting down the other team is the challenge. 
 

I shoot very few 3’s unless a breakdown and wide open.  I fast-break off misses when I can and either drive or send guys to the hoop for the pass and easy hoop.  I have more issues with turnovers than not scoring.  My FG% is very high.

 

I only have 4 GO’s at the current time, Dame Lillard, Don Ohl, Donovan Mitchell, Kermit Washington.  All rewards.  By the time I get to the 6th board, the GO cards will be pretty affordable with Dark Matter cards everywhere.

I play both on and off.  Depending on what the computer is doing.  It tends to do floppy play a lot. So, I try to respond accordingly.  I forgot about certain badges like flexible release and steady shooter.  Those badges aren't on PS5.  So, I can mostly make my open jump shots, whereas in PS4 I have to definitely time my shots better.  I think it was mostly because I hadn't played the previous gen in four months.  I did much better my next two games.  As far as defense goes, defensive badges are even more important on previous gen.

 

I play regular man to man.  I go on my settings and switch all type of screens.  I have the squad to do that, though.

 

My starting 5

Magic, Pippen, Kawhi, OG, Pau Gasol.  

 

My Bench 

Oscar Robertson, Drexler, Durant, Hero, KAT 

 

All of my squad has at worst silver clamps, pick pocket, heart crusher, intimidator, interceptor.  (Durant is the only one with silver stuff).  That definitely helps.  On PS5, I could abuse anyone in the post with Magic, whereas the computer will double every time.  So, it's definitely harder on PS4, but it's not too bad with the right strategy.

 

You should definitely be OK with those players, but I would try to find some cheap bigs like pink diamond KAT.  It's much easier to have bigs who can shoot.

I would also recommend getting GO Shaq (the Quantum version) if you can afford it. He's currently on the market for around 100k. His Interior Defence, Defensive Rebound and Block stats are all 95+. I also have Budenholzer as my coach which only adds to my Defence. I also slap shoes on him and these stats go to 98+. I regularly get 5-10 blocks per game this way and even if you aren't great at on-ball, the AI still does a pretty good job with him.

 

Also, don't force 3-pointers. For some reason, 2K decided that HOF difficulty means your wide open 3-pointers are hit and miss on whether they will go in. I generally wait to see if my team mates get into position pretty fast and if they do I fire away. That has had a pretty good success rate (obviously 3-point stats and relevant badges also play a key role here as well).

I'm a very average 2k player and I've been working my way through the games and what has worked well for me has been running defensive coach, with smother on ball and deny ball defense with a taller athletic lineup which a lot of times gets me 6-10 blocks and steals a game. Offensively I saved and bought the inferno Ben Simmons and run five out a lot because usually Simmons dunks over shorter point guards or has an easier layup meter. If they actually stop you then post up moves work very easy and when they finally double I kick to the open man and hit easy shots. This method I usually have an +80% field goal percentage and win games on average by 15-20 points. Some games are still struggles but it's usually cause the defense AI are not working like they usually are, I'm not sure what causes it

I finished Mystery Domination yesterday and it wasnt too bad, its safe to say that the first set is the hardest.

There is some dynamic diffculty/ momentum in those games cause sometimes the AI just goes nuts and makes everything, this happens every 10th game or so, you can still beat them but if this happens against one of the harder teams it can be quite annoying.

 

But sometimes you will get the same advantage as the AI, i had games blowing out the AI by almost 40 and shooting 7/10 from the 3pt line where i was really asking myself "Is this HOF diffculty?"

 

Some addtional tips i can give: 

 

-Never really play off-ball defense but also never really play on-ball defense, sounds stupid but what i mean is that you should switch between players fairly often and adjust.

If they about to shoot just switch to the closest player and use the right stick to contest, if you on-ball too much they will blow by but if you off-ball too much they will shoot over your players. 

 

-You can shoot 3s but you should really think about what shots you take, i had two players i was able to green fairly consistent so i used them as my prefered shooters.

Players shoot better from corners because of the Corner Specialist badge and Dimer boosts the % quite a bit.

So basically if youre prefered shooter is sitting in the corner recieving a pass from your guard which has Dimer Gold/HOF you should always take the shot.

 

It also depends on the situation of course if youre up by 20 you can start to shoot more 3s but i would never pull a 3 after dribbling when its a close game and i have enough time on my clock. 

 

-And as most people said before speedboosting with Hawks 2018 Freelance mostly does the job on the offensive end, playbooks are not needed but still a good option if you need a quick bucket.

My favorite play is "QUICK 21 RIP" from Trailblazers book but there is actually a tons of money plays which you can see here:

-The AI will run plays fairly often, some of the 3 point plays can be quite annoying so try to watch the entire field and adjust to them right in time, if you see curry running from left to right like a maniac while they set screens everywhere then there might be a reason for it. 

 

 

I only used an emerald coach and i only had to adjust my lineup to taller players against the game with the Centers. 

Its definitely doable for an average 2k player.

man i cant believe the progress i have made on this set of games, i think i need like 6 more games, got the harder games finished. but the tips above helped me get the coins needed

Im about to post a video today or tomorrow on how to win every single game one try with no matter what kind of team you may have easily no stress
