Vita Platinum Summer (Real trophy hunter shit) -All done, thanks for playing

Thanks everyone for these PS Vita game ideas. I always stare at my Vita not exactly sure what to play; mostly looking for turn-based, puzzle, and adventure.

@FrumpleOrz i've been thinking of playing that Twin Breakers game recently, so thanks for taking that bullet for me. Will be skipping that.

Glad I could be of some help!  I was pretty disappointed in the game myself and I have a huge soft spot for Breakout-style games but when the basic control aspects are wrong, it's a giant bummer.

I did just get a 100% on Looney Tunes Galactic Sports though!  I had an opportunity to get the ad hoc trophy so I figured why not?  Kinda fun, pretty simple.  Just some basic mini games.

I am a little jealous. I grew up on Looney Tunes. I even have an imported physical copy of this game. Adhoc trophies are the worst.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc

Good luck with the School Mode grind. Its unbelievable how boring it is.

L2aed69.png

#178 - Mekorama

Grabbed it on sale. Its a really well made puzzler. Platinum is achieved for only completing the first 50 puzzles out of 100. A little dissappointing in that regard, but the second half of the puzzles are way harder so if you had to finish all of them the plat percent would be way lower.

L99b884.png

#179 - Killzone Mercenary

The grind wasn't as bad as I was expecting so I just went ahead and focused on getting it done. Very good game. One of the most visually stunning Vita games, and just a joy to play. Its crazy that this is a Vita game and its super disappointing we didn't get more experiences like this one.

As someone who got the platinum in Danganronpa 1, I wholeheartedly agree with this. I'm really, really dreading Danganronpa 2's Island Mode.

Just a couple of small ones finished today

S97bda2.png

Syrup and the Ultimate Sweet:  I really liked this one.  A short and cute visual novel that manages to be silly & goofy while never becoming saccharine or stupid.  The characters are a lot of fun to read and the routes aren't too tricky to figure out.  I liked it enough that I might buy a t-shirt of the candy golem, heh.  It would go well with my VA1-HA11-A shirt.  Anyone who likes VNs should get a kick out of this.

S8da619.png

The King of Fighters '97 Global Match:  No plat but an old-school classic of the 2D fighting genre.  A pretty straightforward list that just requires a bunch of playthrough with various teams and some very easy online trophies that are easy to boost makes it simple to finish but it's never boring or tedious.  I'm terrible at fighting games and especially SNK fighting games but I had a good time with this one.

Yeah, ad hocs are such a struggle.  I'm glad I was able to make Looney Tunes happen but I've got a copy of Epic Mickey 2 sitting on my shelf and I doubt I'll ever get a chance to get those ad hoc ones!

I'll take both of those over the insane grind of that board game or whatever it is in Dangaronpa v3.  I never did get around to finishing it and I burned through the first two pretty quickly.

Oh, same. I honestly didn't mind School Mode/Island mode that much, and the Free Time was a nice opportunity to learn more about the characters.

THE VITA WILL NEVER FUCKING DIE

Love the idea.

1 - Dragon Fantasy: Volumes of Westeria - Didn't know that I had this game for free from buying the other 2 versions of Dragon Fantasy until I went through the store on my vita.  I'm a sucker for these types of games, and this is perfect for Vita.  Simplistic, straight forward, and fun.  Completed between 5-7 hours, which is great for the hand held, and simple enough to run through a zone before going to bed or on a short break.  Highly Recommend for fans of the OG Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest style games.

2- Resistance: Burning Skies -  Didn't start this for several years until I found a boosting session for it.  Perfect length for a vita game, imo, at 8-10 hours.  Can plat on easy difficulty with minimal collectibles.  Gameplay and story did not detract from the experience and I enjoyed my time.  Recommend for everyone. If you need an extra body for boosting the MP, since you need 4 people I think, let me know and I'll try to be there.

Hey don't worry about it! RE8 is a good reason to ignore the vita!

L1de50d.png

#180 - Breeder Homegrown

An indie point and click adventure billed as horror but was more surreal then horror. Not much to say here, it wasn't very good. Sprite work is all over the place, Its slow and clunky. You basically just wander around until you find the thing that you need to click on to progress.

L91b7ac.png

#181 - Planet RIX-13

Another indie point and click adventure. Even shorter then Breeder. Doesn't even have an opening cinematic, it just dumps you into the game. Despite that its still a much better game. I actually enjoyed my time with it. The pixel art was cohesive in its design, and I actually had to use my brain a little bit to recall where certain items collected could be used, and to solve some basic puzzles. Worth the $1.50 I paid for sure.

Lddc1d7.png

#182 - Teslagrad

I had a bad first impression of this game. Controls are slippery and I hit a game breaking bug about 15 minutes into the game forcing me to start a new game. Beyond that it was alright. Sort of a puzzle metroidvania game. The boss fights were super annoying considering that one single hit kills you. But with enough patience to learn the patterns they are not too bad. Plat is just for collecting all the scrolls in the game, you don't even need to finish it. But the last collectible is right before the final boss so I did finish it up.

L594c2a.png

100% - Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery

An absolutely charming puzzle game in the style of the Professor Layton or Puzzle Agent series. Unfortunately this is just part 1 of 2. Part 2 never came out on the Vita, so I will have to jump over to Steam to play it. At a measly $3 price I would still recommend this though. Will take 2 play throughs if you do your first blind. One play through if you follow a guide to collect all the cans.

Lebca21.png

100% - North

A fever dream of a game. I know it was about immigration but I am not really sure what it was trying to say about immigration. Gave me some mixed messages. Also has a segment that could trigger epilepsy / seizures.

Finally added a new one!

S509830.png

Mecho Tales Desert Ashes: Boy this is a slog.  It's practically the same game as War Theater but without the hero characters.  It becomes a major slog in the final chapter and the game has a tendency to corrupt saves.  I feel relief to have finished this!  I hope Luc Bernard never tricks me into buying another game of his!

...shit, I still have to finish Plague Road one of these days.

Couple of new 100%'s to the list.

L9442b6.png

100% - Steamworld Dig

A brilliant game. The 100% seems daunting at first because of the Master Prospector trophy which requires you to collect 150 blue orbs, collect $20 000, not die a single time and beat the game in under 2:30. But its actually pretty reasonable. You can uses a save backup to make the no deaths easy, and as long as you rush through the first two worlds you will have plenty of time to backtrack with better gear and upgrades from world 3 in order to get enough blue orbs and money. I entered the final boss with 20 minutes on the clock still which is plenty of time. Feels like a pretty respectable 100%. I ended up playing my PS+ copy of this because I recently found out my sealed physical copy is one of only 90 units that had the reversible cover facing out which sealed collectors have bought in the $500-600 USD range. Most of those 90 never actually got distributed either, so its possibly one of rarest sealed variants on the Vita.

Ldcbacb.png

100% - Fruit Ninja

Easy and fun enough. It's fruit ninja, not much to say here. Got it done since its got a trophy that will become unobtainable when Vita messaging ends later this summer.

Steamworld Dig is so good.  I loved getting that 100% too and I need to get around to playing the sequel one of the days.  Have you tried out Steamworld Heist?  A completely different game but it's got the same great tone that Dig has.  That's nuts about the sealed copy.  I can't believe how much Vita games have exploded in value over the last year.  I just found out A.W. Phoenix Festa has sold for nearly four digits on eBay recently and that just blows my mind.  Glad I got my copy for like $40 when it first came out!

I haven't played it yet. I've got a physical copy of Heist on my shelf though. Funnily enough it also has a reversible cover with only 90 units facing out. I just have the standard cover facing out though so I have opened it already.

Passing on A.W. Phoenix Festa when I saw it for $100 is one of my biggest collecting regrets. Right up there with waiting to buy Dangonropa V3. Prices have absolutely gone crazy though. I have about 200 physical Vita games and in the past few months my collections value has shot up several thousand dollars.

1 hour ago, Spinacheq said:

I also got lucky with Metal Slug 3 and got the rare variant of that which is a completely different cover. No solid numbers on how many of that exist though, and its not worth the crazy amount Steamworld Dig is. Somewhere in the $160-200 USD range last I checked.

Woot put me down for another Vita plat.

S861ec7.png

Just completed this and it was a blast.  Fun and entertaining, and only 10 bucks on the vita store not bad.  I wish I had a physical copy for the collection but at 80 to 100 bucks not happening anytime soon.   I did pick up all 35 or so .99 cent titles that the developer Sometimes you put on the vita store.  So I will be playing through those at some point here.

Damn I wish I had that in Vita physicals, I am only sitting at about 30ish not sure if any of them have shot up in price other than my sealed uncharted golden abyss.  not that it is a huge price lol.
