Co-op story games

So I’m looking for recommendations for games which can be played through in online co-op. 
Recently we’ve done both of the recent ghost recon games and no mans sky.
We gave far cry 5 a shot but it hasn’t held our interest. 

PS5 games would also be welcome but due to the lack of games there I thought it was best to ask here.

A Way Out and It Takes Two are both built to be Co Op. It Takes Two has a PS4 and 5 versions.

Bit shooter heavy, but there's decent variety in there.

Borderlands 2, Defense Grid 2, Dungeon Defenders 2, PvZ Garden Warfare 2, Saints Row 3 and 4, Sniper Elite 4, Stardew Valley, and Escapists 2 have been favorites.

My spouse and I have a set-up with two big-screen TVs side by side, with each one having a Nintendo Switch and a PS4 (Soon to be PS5's I hope!)

 

As such, I can certainly recommend a few games that are fun to play online through and through with a partner - I'm sure you've heard of most of them, but I'll list my favorites below:

• The "Borderlands" series - All of them are amazing, with the "Pre-Sequel" being my least favorite. 
• Rayman Legends - Fun platformer if that's your thing.
• Outriders - This one just launched April 1st. It still has a few bugs, but I'm enjoying it.
• Diablo 3 - Great ARPG, decent story, great replay value, and a classic.
• FFXIV - If you're into MMORPGs - this game takes the cake. Absolutely amazing story, great graphics, combat system, and much more.
• Divinity: Original Sin II - Basically the D&D of gaming. The acolades it's recieved speak for itself, but the combat style isn't for everyone.

 

Hope this helps a bit! There's a lot more out there, but really it depends on what styles/genres you're looking for!

Borderlands 1 (can't speak for the others) is great for if you want to socialize while playing. It's a pretty mindless game.

Zombie Army 4 is entirely built around online co-op of up to 4 players and is a lot of fun. It’s basically Sniper Elite meets Days Gene’s endless zombie hordes. It’s currently free on PS+ for this month so you might as well grab it while you can.

Resident Evil 6 had one of the bests co-op online i ever see, and also is very fun, i recommend too much who didn't play yet

I’d also highly recommend Remnant from the Ashes for co-op. It’s basically like Dark Souls but with guns, and it was free on PS+ recently. My friend and I just finished it yesterday and we absolutely loved it. The entire game and all trophies can be earned with your partner.
