Vita banned error code 2072-1 with no email

I just keep getting this error code when trying to sync my trophies after just syncing a platinum on april 5th. I don't hack, I don't even know how to. And all information I can look up says they should send an email. It is only my PSVIta as I am on my PS4 right now and synced a platinum about an hour ago. Has anyone experienced this problem before?

What has Sony support told you about this error code?

Question, did you register the vita under your account? I don't mean activating it with a memory card with your account on it, I mean going to Sony's site and registering it as your primary vita.

I think so, but that would have been 5-6 years ago when I bought it so I don't know. How would I check that?

Log on to your sony account on a computer and check your registered systems Should be under device management.

I was on my sony and my playstation account. I do not know how to check registered systems

From the main desktop page click your account in the upper right corner, go into account settings. From there you might need to log in again into the main sony entertainment network. It will then bring up a page with a menu to the left, towards the bottom is the device manager that will tell you the status of your devices and if they're assigned to your account.

Okay, thanks. I pulled it up. My vita and ps4 show up, but oddly my ps3 doesn't. But that is a problem for another time. Gotta figure out why they are messing with my vita first. Still no email.

You mentioned that you bought it used, it's possible the previous owner ran CFW (Custom Firmware) on it, Sony then flagged the hardware ID for using homebrew, hacks, decrypted games etc.

Most likely the previous owner reverted all the changes back to OFW (Original Firmware) before selling as buyers/stores aren't always keen buying a "hacked" device.

And you being the new owner got the bad end of the stick when Sony randomly decided to block the device after all this time.

Do your best to get in contact with them, explain it was bought used and that they can check what firmware it's running when connected online as they get streams of info when you log into your device.

The fact you used it for over five years means they have more than enough proof you've been using your PS Vita legitimately.

I think you're giving Sony workers in the PlayStation division a bit (read: metric tons) more credit then they've demonstrated historically. There's probably a lot more details to this story that we're not being told.

Well it's more of an automated flag on the device, just isn't viable having PlayStation's people read countless lines of info streaming in live with the hope of catching someone out. Dispute it and then the human part comes into play to investigate it and yeah there could possibly be more details to this story, but gotta give people the benefit of a doubt sometimes.

I just know these days they care more about flagging PS3s and PS4s running CFW than the Vita but 5 years ago it was a very active system that was closely monitored for CFW before they eventually killed the handheld.

Curious to see the outcome of this though.

Format the vita then log the account back in and see if its connects to PSN.

I'm in line on the phone at the main number and the recording keeps saying that they can't help with account suspension. Who the heck am I supposed to talk to then? Do they have another number besides 1-800-345-7669?

I just got on the chat thing and they say I'm banned until April 10th, but they are not sure why.

Temporary bans can be for anything under the sun. I've typically heard of them mostly for online interactions like trash talking across MP or trolling.

Guess you don't need to format your system. Just wait until tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm just mad that I literally didn't do anything. I just played some cheap ratalaika games as some platinum fillers on the way to a milestone. Then Bam banned for "exploiting or hacking". What bothers me is what will stop them next time? I didn't hack, and I will continue to not hack, so whatever I did to flag myself is likely to happen again. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll at least have the courtesy to send an email next time

And to keep my name clear, I don't hack, I don't play online with a microphone or much at all really, and I don't care enough to troll. This was just Sony being a d*ck

I appreciate the support and helping me try to understand what happened

Sometimes the email shows up late. I know someone that got permabanned, and they didn't get the email until a week after being banned

You have no idea why they implemented the ban so it's just as wrong to speculate it was for "exploiting or hacking" as it was for child pornography, especially if you claim you've never been involved with either. It wasn't a permanent ban so I doubt it was for exploiting or hacking. Having past messages that someone decides to report a long time later is definitely a scenario that results in a temp ban though. Go on reddit and you can see many, many examples of people getting temp bans. If you're looking to drive yourself crazy, feel free to speculate if any of those scenarios come close to anything you've experienced.

If you can't get a reason for your temp ban than you'll just have to wait to see and it might never happen again, or make your way up the customer service chain until you can get someone to tell you something specific.
