Popular Post Ghost
Developed by Blue Box Game Studios (based in The Netherlands), Abandoned is a cinematic, first-person horror survival shooter set in a highly detailed open world environment and favours a realistic approach to survival. Quote The story The story is centered around Jason Longfield, who wakes up in a strange forest. Abandoned and not remembering how he got there, Jason soon finds out that he was kidnapped and brought there for a dark purpose. Fighting for his survival, his main goal is escape. Realistic character interaction We want to deliver a uniquely personal gameplay experience, one that feels realistic. Every event has an influence on your character. If Jason is out of breath after sprinting (or is afraid), his firing accuracy will suffer. Unlike action shooter titles, firing weapons in Abandoned will be realistically slow. You will need to be tactical in order to survive. The development Our studio is focused on crafting a cinematic style, first-person story. This is no fast-paced shooter in which you just run, aim and shoot. Abandoned requires you to hide and plan every shot before pulling the trigger. We want you to be nervous come each and every enemy encounter. To be aware that a wrong move can be the deciding factor between surviving a combat scenario or not. Immersion through the DualSense wireless controller and 3D audio We wanted to emphasise realism through user immersion. This would not be possible without the DualSense wireless controller. Players will feel each and every interaction during gameplay – such as being struck by a bullet. Pulling the trigger on a loaded or unloaded gun will feel different. Equally 3D audio will help shape your decisions and tactics, using the accurate positioning of gunshots out in the wilds to help decide your next move. The power of PS5 Our team is still unravelling the power of PS5 but we’ve made amazing progress so far. The console allows us to process high quality motion capture, all running at 60 FPS and rendered at a native 4K resolution. We're making sure the environmental quality is as close to the real thing as possible. In all, the result is realistic graphics, smooth character animations and minimal loading screens. Announcement teaser and release window While we don’t want to go through the full gameplay details just yet – a full gameplay video will be available soon! We couldn’t wait to give a glimpse of what to expect, so we hope you enjoy this sneak preview. Ashbo
Didn't like the cheesy voiceover on the trailer and the smoke effects coming off the fire in the woods looked ropey! See how it develops I guess...

Popular Post NMErickson
The Mystery of Abandoned and the Interesting Silent Hill Conspiracy. Let me first say that generally I’m not a big believer of conspiracy theories. But I have been following this story throughout the day and the coincidences and circumstances that surround Abandoned make it seem it could be more than what it claims to be. Could it involve Kojima, be a new Silent Hill, or THE Silent Hills? As unlikely as that sounds, there is a lot of evidence of Abandoned being more than just a new indie game coming out. For what’s been found so far, I’m just going to summarize and put all the important parts here and you can decide for yourself. I will try to mainly list the facts and less of the opinions and speculation but sometimes they will be tied in for certain cases. Most excerpts are from this write-up on PlayStation Lifestyle from June 16th, some info from other sites, as well as a couple things I’ve observed while digging into this. 1.) April 7th, 2021. The reveal. An article appeared on the PlayStation Blog revealing a teaser for an upcoming first-person survival horror PS5-exclusive called “Abandoned.” The post was by Hasan Kahraman, the Game Director at BLUE BOX Game Studios. Some eagle-eyed Redditors noticed that in the “Abandoned” teaser video at about 49 seconds, there’s graffiti on a wall that says “Kill The Trespassers” with a narrow tree blocking a couple of letters. The tree seems to be in front of the letters “T” and “P,” or perhaps more accurately as intended, “P” and “T.” 2.) About the studio: There are comparisons of the BLUE BOX logo being the same font and similar to the PlayStation Studios logo. Blue boxes are what PS4 and PS5 games come in and “Studios” is plural despite it being a small, singular developer. Their website is barebones. Their Twitter account is “@BBGameStudios,” which curiously shares the BB acronym with Kojima’s Death Stranding baby. The BLUE BOX Game Studios YouTube account, formed on January 20, 2015, has zero videos, and the profile header background features an image of hills with some low lying clouds and fog nestled among them. Key words fog and hills. The studio is based in the Netherlands and BLUE BOX Game Studios appears to have been founded in 2015, exactly one year after the release of P.T., and right around the time Kojima was going through his breakup with Konami. In 2016, PlayStation Europe announced that Kojima Productions was setting up a small satellite studio in the Netherlands alongside Guerilla Games. The new teaser for Death Stranding Director’s Cut from Summer Game Fest shows a Netherlands flag on Sam’s back. Despite saying that they’ve worked as a support studio for years, you won’t find any record of the games they’ve supposedly assisted with in the past or other developers talking about working on Abandoned. The only recent game that is connected with BLUE BOX is a Steam early access title called The Haunting: Blood Water Curse, a game that is inspired by Fatal Frame. As of 8/21, a page for this game can also be found on the PSN store but there is no content and the only thing you can do is wishlist it. Previously, they had a game called The Whisperer for Android, which now can’t be found. They also have another game titled “Tales of the Six Swords (Early Access) for Android” which also now can’t be found. One of the studio’s cancelled games is named Lost Tapes, which is the name of a soundtrack in MGSV. In 2015 they launched a video game project on Kickstarter for a game called Rewind. It is described as a cinematic horror game for PC, VR, and console and a paranormal investigation game. The first of it’s eight chapters was titled Abandoned. The campaign was cancelled because they stated that Rewind will be fully funded by a private investor. 3.) About the developer: The studio only seems to have a single employee, Hasan Kahraman, who coincidentally (or not) shares his initials with Hideo Kojima. Something very interesting is if you translate “Hideo” from Japanese to Turkish, it becomes “Kahraman”. He has a newly created barebones LinkedIn profile, with almost no connections, and no further information other than purporting that he’s been at the company since April 2014. Hasan had a YouTube channel called Twentyseven27. Silent Hills was cancelled on April 27th. Despite having a small online presence, he has a a verified PSN account under the name SneakyWarriorr, an honor reserved for developers and prominent industry figures. The account has 1238 trophies, the same number referenced on a Silent Hill Japanese commercial. And this verified PSN account has been playing a game that doesn’t exist on the PlayStation Store called Demon Blood. Curiouser still, the non-existent Demon Blood game uses Siren Head for its artwork, which horror manga artist Junji Ito recently reacted to. And a year ago it was revealed that Kojima and Ito were in talks to work together. Years ago when Hideo Kojima first teased Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, he made up a fake studio called Moby Dick Studios and for months played the role of a fake developer named Joakim Mogren and announced a game called The Phantom Pain, which became MGSV. 4.) February 8th. Going back in time a little bit, the Silent Hill composer teased a new game reveal for Summer 2021. When asked if there are any other projects he’s working on, Yamaoka responded that an announcement will likely happen this summer. What’s more, it could be a big one for fans. “You’ll probably hear something this summer to be announced,” Yamaoka said via a translator before adding, “And I think it’s the one you’re kinda hoping to hear about.” A week later the interview was pulled down by it’s original publisher, AIHub. In a statement, AlHub explained that it had been asked to remove the clip (but doesn't specify who asked), and apologized for doing so. 5.) May 30th. BLUE BOX Game Studios revealed that Abandoned would get its own PS5 app which would let players run the game’s trailers in real time on the PS5. The tweet says “Experience all trailers and gameplay reveals with images rendered realtime by the PS5's hardware with the Abandoned Realtime Trailers PS5 app! Gamehub live now on PS5!”. PT also was an app and you could watch a game trailer. What type of app Abandoned will have though is unknown. The promotional image looks professional. It’s interesting how a new and unknown indie game developer would be allowed such a big and unique platform and marketing strategy on the brand new PS5 console. Not even first-party PlayStation Studios games have done this. The app was delayed from 6/20 to 6/22 then to 6/25 then again to August. Coincidentally, PT was released in August (August 12th, 2014). 6.) June 15th. BLUE BOX Game Studios tweets “Guess the name: Abandoned = (First letter S, Last letter L). Reveal closing in... #PS5 #Exclusive”. After getting fans in a tizzy, shortly after they tweet that they have no relationship with Konami, Kojima, and apologize for teasing the name as Silent Hill. They also say they just wanted to get everyone excited for the upcoming cinematic reveal and Abandoned is a codename for development purposes. Oh, a codename. Ok. In another tweet on the same day they claim that the April teaser was just an announcement of development and that “the game itself has never been shown,” which creates some questions around what those screenshots and video in the PlayStation Blog post were then. 7.) June 16th. The studio posted an odd list of features for Abandoned and it includes one rather odd entry. next gen graphics 4k60 No HUD, manual ammo check, taking care of wounds realistic cinematic survival Snowflakes of blood The snowflakes of blood was linked to an Until Dawn teaser. At the time, many in the press linked the teasers Sony had been doing for Until Dawn’s re-reveal to P.T.’s reveal as Silent Hills. So while the bloody snowflakes themselves weren’t ever actually tied to Silent Hills, they were certainly linked tangentially to it by way of the media and conspiracy-filled theories about what they could mean. A different observation is that they were used in PT teasers. 8.) June 17th. When someone asked Geoff Keighley on Twitter what is happening with BB Game Studios, He responded with a video reply. He said he received DMs from Hasan to help him reveal his game in the coming months. Keighley was involved with the Phantom Pain tease as seen in a link in the 3.) About the developer section above. Keighley follows the studio on Twitter. Kojima has a strong friendship with Keighley. 9.) June 21st. After teasing a new merch line with Silent Hill imagery for days, Konami announced on Twitter that they’re launching a new Silent Hill merch collection starting with a skateboard deck. What timing. 10.) June 21st. The real Hasan Kahraman appears on camera to give a seemingly genuine update on the Blue Box Studios Twitter account stating that he’s a real person, not an actor, not associated with Kojima, and not working on Silent Hill. He wants to host a Q&A session soon. The Blue Box Twitter has grown to over 25K followers in just a few days and it seems pretty split in the comments. Half the fans believe him and are looking forward to Abandoned while many still believe the Silent Hill/Kojima conspiracy theory. It has shifted quite a bit. There were more conspiracy believers than not just a few days ago when this all blew up. The speculation begins to quiet down. 11.) June 23rd. Blue Box Studios announce on their Twitter that NUARE is their outsourcing studio. NUARE is an art outsourcing studio that have worked on many AAA titles including Death Stranding. Strangely, the NUARE Twitter account unfollowed over 600 accounts in the two days between the announcement of the outsourcing studio and the delayed app announcement video on 6/25. They are now following only 10 accounts. The Blue Box Studios and Hideo Kojima Twitter accounts are two they are following. 12.) June 30th. Less than a week after the Abandoned/Kojima hype train came to a crawl when they announced the two month app delay, there was other interesting non Blue Box Studios and potential Silent Hill news. On 6/30, horror game developer Bloober Team announced a new partnership with Konami. They are the developers of the games Layers of Fear 1 & 2, Observer, Blair Witch, and The Medium. Bloober Team has previously hinted that it had been working on an established horror IP with a “very famous publisher”, and with this announcement, it now seems extremely likely that the Polish developer will be creating the next Silent Hill game, although it is still yet to be officially confirmed. 13.) June 30th. The Abandoned PS5 trailer app has appeared on Sony’s PlayStation Store servers, revealing the trailer app file size, official name, and app artwork. According to information gathered by PlayStation Game Size, the Abandoned teaser has a download size of 1.982 GB and is officially titled “Abandoned Realtime Trailers”. A couple days later, on 7/3, the same PlayStation Game Size found information for a November 17th, 2021 release date according to the database but it can be a placeholder. News on the Abandoned app comes as Sony are tipped to be announcing the start date for it’s next State of Play event soon. 14.) July 27th. Blue Box tweeted an image with the Abandoned Realtime Experience title and captioned it “Are you ready? We are!”. The app’s title was recently switched from Realtime Trailers to Realtime Experience. What makes the image very curious though is in the background there is a blurred out head of a character with an eyepatch over their left eye. Many have speculated it could be a tease for the recently rumored Metal Gear Solid VI. There is also blurred out text above the word Abandoned which some believe says “Welcome to Silent Hill” as the spacing and amount of letters seem to line up. 15.) August 13th. After many delays, the Abandoned Realtime Experience is updated with new content. Moments before the patch was to drop on 8/10, they said it would it be delayed due to technical difficulties. Many thought they were postponing on purpose until 8/12, the anniversary of PT. They seemed to acknowledge that by saying it won’t come out on a specific date and will come out when it’s ready. It did manage to land a day later, on Friday the 13th no less. The patch brought the install size of the app from around 2GB to slightly over 5GB. In the update you are greeted to a menu that teases a lot of upcoming content but there is currently only one piece of content available. It is the four second clip of a character walking that they posted on 8/10, moments before the patch was supposed to go live. When the short clip is over it states that a trailer and playable prologue are coming soon. All the coming soon content is displayed on the menu and will probably be released individually over a period of time. So far on the menu under the Trailers category there is Introduction (released), Cinematic reveal trailer, Trailer, and Release Trailer. Under the Gameplay demos category there is Gameplay demonstration #1 and Gameplay demonstration #2. There is also a way to view the latest news and announcements for Abandoned. To be continued… This whole thing has caused quite a stir for horror, Silent Hill, PT, and Kojima fans. Did any of this convince you or pique your interest at least? The author of the article said it best: “If this is just some indie studio trying to do its own thing, that’s a whole lot of unfortunate coincidences”. But even if you take away the coincidences and the link, it’s neat to see all these references to Silent Hills, at least. The game that will never die in every fan’s heart. Especially when given lifelines like these. Edited August 14, 2021 by NMErickson Added #14 & 15

Anyway, the name "Hideo" (秀夫) and the Japanese word for "hero" (英雄) have nothing in common.

The standard reading of 英雄 is "eiyū" ("hero"), which is why Google is translating the word as "hero" ("kahraman" in Turkish). I mean, both 秀夫 and 英雄 are technically (or phonetically) the same name (Hideo), but they're not interchangeable. You can't just write Kojima's name as 小島英雄, that would be a completely different person. And 秀夫, which is his actual name, doesn't have the same meaning (hero), so it feels like all this is based on a Google Translate misinterpretation. It's a weird coincidence, though, I'll give you that. I'm probably overthinking this. It's entirely possible some Japanese person somewhere just typed "Hideo" (in Roman letters) into Google Translate, got "kahraman" out of it and then proceeded to create a fictitious game director based on that word lol.
Cleggworth
I've never played a silent hill game and likely never will so I don't care particularly either way but this is so weird it has to be at least something right? When has a game ever had a dedicated launch app? Let alone from a developer seemingly out of nowhere? I find it odd that there was a playstation blog post about it as well, a teaser from nobody about a game with a placeholder title? The rest of it could be just a one man band stirring the fan base up into a frenzy for the publicity with some well thought out "coincidences" but whatever it turns out to be Playstation has to be in on it with the app and blog post... fascinating stuff though

Using a technical/phonetical equivalent is enough to be a "weird coincidence" with a strong element of doubt. It's perfect. NMErickson
The app has been delayed again. Now launching on Friday 6/25. I can’t wait wait to see the size of it. If it’s a couple GB or more there’s gotta be a demo nestled in there for activation later perhaps. First it’s supposed to get you used to it and let you view a trailer in real time to see what Abandoned looks like. Sooo so weird. Here’s their tweet: The Abandoned:Trailers app got delayed for three days. Due to localization issues we had to delay it. Apologies for this. Launching friday the 25th! Also: The app will kick off with an introduction to get you introduced with it’s purpose and how to use the app. 7:24 AM · Jun 20, 2021

Ptirle
I don't think anyone would want a new Silent Hill game done with original Team Silent more than me, yeah that's right, not Kojima, but OG team, BUT... this is so fishy that is going to disappoint all those conspiracy theorist with epic let down. That turkish guy said that he doesn't have anything to do with Kojima and Silent Hills or whatever and he really didn't do much before, he just used basic assets from unreal engine and other engines and made some demo games from that, this Abandoned game is no different. Game looks like shit. But he made this on purpose to hype the game and of course there is no one better in the industry to get hype than with Mr. Kojima. And I pray to God that I am wrong and that we will get something SH related or whatever, but I know we wont.
