Popular Post ain_sr
I had no idea about this game until it was given away for PlayStation Play at home initiative( Many thanks to them!). Really enjoyed the variation in the the ocean world. It was a great thrill to explore the depths of the ocean and almost receiving an heart attack on the first encounter with the leviathan! The things which you can build gradually as you explore more and more is greatly balanced and feels truly rewarding when you upgrade your seamoth to 900m depth. I loved the resource gathering and exploration in the world hence I am looking for some 'unsung' games that offers something similar, an amazing mixture of rewarding and explorative gameplay topped with some cool story. I was hoping give another shot to No Man's Sky after playing at launch. Would love to hear your recommendation of some similar games. Thank you!
Popular Post LoveInHell
I loved playing Subnautica too! How awesome was it to explore the lava area for the first time? Nerve wrecking right? You should check out The Forest, it’s similar gameplay but above ground.

Yup the things one has to do for some kyanite! The first time the dragon leviathan charged I left my prawn suit and swam with the glider and died! This game seemed like a great adventure. Oh my the forest is always on the top 20 sales of PSN each month since last almost two years. Have added it to my list now. Thanks for sharing. It's grown a lot in content and variation. It was the very first game i wanted to play again om ps5. I recommend you try it. The new expedition mode adds even more variation.
Vault-TecPhantom
Loved this game. Very addictive and you're right, OP, they get the balance between grind and reward right. As others have said, No Man's Sky in its current state is worth a go.
EcoShifter
This is an absolutely amazing game. Took me by surprise for sure. Definitely looking forward to the sequel.
Winds-of-Neptune
Any simulator game if your not looking for the Sea theme.. Farming Simulator, the above ground version of Subnautica. ? Although Farm. Sim. is quite boring after a while. The Forest, MudRunner, SnowRunner. Even Fallout 4.. with the way you have to collect and build settlements/various other things. Neocarleen
If you’re looking for a game with a similar survival aspect, I’d recommend: Don’t Starve Green Hell Outer Wilds Stranded Deep The Forest The Long Dark Or if you’re just looking for more ocean themed games: Abzu Beyond Blue Jupiter & Mars Maneater SOMA Song of the Deep

I know Subnautica got bundled in a plus month, but if we compare the 2, below zero has only 3% of the players that Subnautica has. Sadly it went under the radar

Sadly it went under the radar Yeah, being Plus and much older (price drops along the way) allowed for a lot more players. As Below Zero gets discounted, the user base will grow. But it will be nowhere near the original unless it is given away with Plus.

VaDiMkA
The Long Dark is pretty similar. except its on land, in Canada. So snow, cold, and wolves are your enemies. Its has a (yet) incomplete story mode and a open world do-what-you-want mode. Surviving is the focus here, but technically both games are "the same" Gather resources, explore, rinse and repeat.
