“U.S.A. and Russia stand at the brink of war. Proxy wars have waged for decades, generating experienced but displaced combat veterans. These Specialists use their skills to shape the future — a future worth fighting for.”

“Battlefield 2042 introduces 7 vast maps for up to 128* players. From Seoul’s cities to Egypt’s deserts, every map offers a unique experience based on the natural environment.

“Customize weapons, gadgets and vehicles in-battle to tip the scales in your favor. Summon a robotic dog built for battle, employ a grappling hook or don your very own wingsuit.

“Choose your role on the battlefield and form hand-tailored squads through the new Specialist system. Based on Battlefield’s four Classes, Specialists have one unique Specialty and Trait – but the rest of the loadout is fully customizable.”

No story mode sadly.

Damn. But, it gives them time to come up with a good single player campaign for the next Battlefield after (hopefully Bad Company 3). No free upgrade from PS4>PS5.  Correction: The gold edition has a cross-gen bundle.

After trying out the beta, I'll make a decision on purchasing it.

When I first heard rumors of it being in the future I was kind of sad because I thought it was gonna have cheesy jetpacks and Halo spaceships everywhere, but this game actually looks pretty grounded with believable technology, I think it looks like it'll be quite fun!

Really sad to see no single player though?? I bet this game could have such an awesome story mode

Jackfrags has a great video talking about quite a lot more details than the trailer showed

This one does not interest me, too over the top silly.

Need to get around to playing the other Battlefields I own anyway!

Too Silly? Have you played BF3 or 4? This trailer literally screamed Only In Battlefield with key references from their previous games such as using a quad bike to take down a Little Bird, or shooting a Jett with a SMAW. This game is an Arcade shooter. Glad they went back this route instead of what COD has been doing.

it’s supposed to be fun.

This is not my normal genre I guess.  I’ve only played Hardline and enjoyed it quite a bit.  I own 4, 1, and V after getting them all dirt cheap but BF 1 interests me the most.  V would too but only got so-so reviews.

I played the recent CoD Modern Warfare and loved the single player.  So fun.  Look forward to playing Cold War.

Always hated Halo and futuristic shooters so at least this one is not going THAT over the top but the demo looked like a Michael Bay movie or a scene out of Just Cause, lol.  There will obviously be over-the-top action moments but they should be halfway believable or you lose all immersion.

I think hyping a movie trailer is really really lame. Like, it almost killed the entire hype for me seeing it had zero gameplay.

I will watch the gameplay trailer down the road and see. Definitely waiting til it drops in price.

I’ve stated on their other post how I don’t even really like the campaigns in these kind of games so it doesn’t matter that much to me. (V’s campaign was one of the worst IMO.)

If I decide to buy it, I will pick it up for around $30 or less. It won’t be worth more than that.

I guess they werent paying attention to what happened to the sales of black ops 4 not having a singleplayer. But we will see when the sales numbers come out.

Battlefield started out as a multiplayer only game so them making the choice to ditch singleplayer is no surprise. It gives them more money, time and resources to put into the multiplayer. Battlefield players barley touch the singleplayer any way.

Battlefield doesn’t care much for Campaign. We really haven’t had a campaign since 4 (if you ignore war stories) and I barely remember it. It’s all about multiplayer with them. Which is good as this is easily another 100+gigs with how big these maps are.

I believe they’re also going the live service option, meaning this game will have a long life span.

I'm excited! What is the cross-gen bundle tho? I'd assume you'll also get the PS4 version when you buy the PS5 Gold/Ultimate edition. However, the store lists it as "only playable on PS5" but also "optimized for PS4 Pro". I mean, what?! Did someone already pre-order the Gold/Ultimate Edition and can verify you'll get both platforms?
