Can this be done solo with 2 PS3s and 2 copies of the game? And I've read over it a few times and I'm finding it confusing.

You can, but it’ll be quite a lot of account switching. I recommend you don’t quit game at 0:00 and instead press “sign out” over account management. This way if you’re too late and see the load screen then you can still quit through xmb and it won’t count as a loss. This makes it guaranteed progress each time. I did this with a friend with 6 accounts each and we labelled them to avoid confusion. I’ll post the order in case you want it.

A1 vs B1 > A1 (round 2)

A2 vs B1 > B1 (round 2)

A2 vs B2 > A2 (round 2)

A3 vs B2 > B2 (round 2)

A1 vs B2 > A1 quit at 0:00 (B2 holds 3)A1 holds 2

A2 vs B1 > B1 quit at 0:00 (A2 holds 3)B1 holds 2

A3 vs B3 > A3 (round 2)

A4 vs B3 > B3 (round 2)

A3 vs B1 > B1 quit at 0:00 (A3 round 3)

A1 vs B3 > A1 quit at 0:00 (B3 round 3)

A3 vs B2 > B2 quit at 0:00 (A3 hold QF’s)

A2 vs B3 > A2 quit at 0:00 (B3 hold QF’s)

A4 vs B4 > A4 (round 2)

A5 vs B4 > B4 (round 2)

A4 vs B1 > B1 quit at 0:00 (A4 round 3)

A1 vs B4 > A1 quit at 0:00 (B4 round 3)

A4 vs B2 > B2 quit at 0:00 (A4 QF’s)

A2 vs B4 > A2 quit at 0:00 (B4 QF’s)

A4 vs B3 > B3 quit at 0:00 (A4 hold semi’s)

Thanks, I may just look for a boosting group for this. I have a hard enough time with it as it is.

Using 2 consoles, try picturing this as an Mortal Kombat ladder that starts with 1 opponent and as an account wins, the next one have to deal with +1 opponent.

One PS3 is the player and the other the CPU. As a player wins and get to the top of the ladder, it becomes a CPU (save management) and the next player start. It goes on until you main is the player and the CPU has 7 fighters

Did you need to download the online pass for each of your alt accounts or was having it downloaded on your main account enough?

its not account dependent, the online pass will be installed on your ps3 like the dlc or the game or a patch :D

I don't know what it's worth but I just did this in about 30-40 minutes with one friend across multiple accounts and used the XMB>Quit game option with no issues. I would recommend dropping out at 0:01 instead of 0:00, sometimes you might be too fast and it will show up that you quit for your opponent. Fear not as your stats will save and you won't be knocked down back to Qualifying round. However, if you choose to cut it closer and back out at 0:00 you risk backing out too late and losing all your progress. you will know you did it too late if you can see black as you're quitting. (found out the hard way)

Is this for one person? I don’t really see how 2 people can hold positions and load up the game on accounts that many times in 30-40 mins. Also signing out at 0:00 is pretty much risk free since you can quit game while signed out if you see the load screen.

I won't be able to boost this game. My copy has a redeemed online pass and online pass has been removed from PSN Store.

I opened a brand new copy and code was not accepted since I guess they removed it from Store who knows

That absolutely sucks. I guess people who purchased or redeemed online pass before May 31st are the only ones who can obtain platinum now.

The cutoff for shift 2 was actually a little bit longer. At first I thought I had missed out on the online for shift 2 when someone told me that it was still on the store. I immediately purchased the DLC and the Online pass on 06/02/21.

Yeah, sadly somehow purchased the game and all DLC, but not the online pass. Don’t know how I managed that ?

Actually a lot of passes expired on 31 Dec 2020. When they announced the store closure I went thru my games redeeming codes and I got problems with Medal of Honor, NFS Shift 2, NFS Hot Pursuit, Warhammer 40K Space Marines and other I don`t remember. Some of them don`t even have an expire date in the voucher, but when I asked Sony, they said all of them expired on 31 Dec 2020.

While I was researching a way to get back the codes I saw that many games were patched to not require the onlne pass or to work even if the game requires one. If I remember correctly, my friend`s PS3 that I got solo boost this didn`t have the pass for Shift 2 and still worked. It might be the case that the versions bought after the online pass abolishment are patched to not require one and that might be your case. Other game I know this for sure are Ratchet and Clank All for One, my code expired, and the PS+ does not have a pass on my DL list but it worked normally, and Medal of Honour, the game requested me to enter a code, but I was able to get in a match anyway.

Yep, I think you’re 100% correct friend. I started up the online just yesterday and it let me in! I have the digital version, so if anyone has the $ and still wanted the online trophies, I think buying the digital version is the way to go from now until the server shutdown.

B7 vs A7 then A1 to A7 in order >> trophy

This is a great guide, and I’m about to use it for the trophy, but can you elaborate a bit on what I highlighted in bold? I’m just confused on which account is actually getting the trophy in the end and who out of A7 and B7 needs to race the rest.

Ah yeah I didn’t explain that part too well. Basically A7 and B7 are the trophy earners, so the first match they play is against eachother in the qualifiers. When I say A7 intentionally loses to B6, that’s only so you can play against B7 again for their qualifiers. I’ll go edit it

I didn't find this very important information anywhere, so I'm just gonna leave it here:

The person who is going to lose the match must be the host, otherwise it will count as a loss for him, and he will be forced back to qualifying. I had to learn it the hard way, unfortunately. As soon as the countdown timer reaches zero, you can either quit out of the game or sign out of PSN. Both methods will do the trick. Once the loading screen starts, the host will switch over to the person who stayed in the match, thus giving him the victory.

Furthermore, this boosting method discovered by OP is definitely the way to go. If done correctly, you'll cut down a considerable amount of playtime compared to other boosting methods, however, you'll probably face some connectivity issues along the way due to poor matchmaking as well.
