Spent the week just playing some more HZD, really loving it. Made some good progress Saturday but due to it being a public holiday today didn't play much the rest of the weekend.

Started Maneater during the week, didn't play every night and ended up knocking most of it out Friday evening after work, before cleaning everything up on Saturday. It's a bit silly, and not too much 'depth' to the gameplay loop, but as it doesn't take itself very seriously, it's enjoyable enough to swim around eating stuff and the collectables aren't a pain at all.

 

I planned to start the PS5 edition on Sunday, but I had my second vaccination on Saturday and did not feel well yesterday, had a bad headache so didn't feel up to sitting down in front of the Playstation for a few hours but I will get started on that this week.

Week 1 Update

One week into the new event and I've made a little progress! I spent the earlier part of the week playing things outside of this challenge, but on Friday I started FFXIII

 

FFXIII is a game I've half-played back in my Xbox days (so probably around 2012-2013 ish), I remember getting as far as reaching the world below but not really any of the details haha. I'm slowly finding what's familiar in it, both good and bad - the graphics still look great, and I still find the characters and world lore interesting, but I still dislike this style of RPG where you get a game over when your main character dies and the lack of flexibility is annoying with party makeup (I'm pretty sure you get more freedom later on though, it just takes time...).

 

I'm enjoying it overall though and looking forward to playing the rest trilogy in future! Only the story progress so far trophy-wise, but I'm fairly confident I've got all the chests up until now, so on my way to get Treasure Hunter at least.

Oh, I didn’t see that you put in both versions of Maneater. You can do one or the other for the challenge, but not both. You can do Maneater PS5 for a different one. And if you want, you can just swap it and it not count as a swap since you didn’t know and I didn’t notice initially.

Persona 5: 27% -> 30%, finished the 3rd palace and just finished Summer holidays in game.

Resident Evil HD: 6% -> 6%

Borderlands GOTY: 12% -> 12%

 

Think this week will be more focussed on Dark Souls 2 so I can continue to remain somewhat good at the combat!

There's 4 buggy trophies, Big Bully, Big Tease, Face First and Stumble Chums. You can contact the devs and they can check your account to see if you met the requirements and they can unlock them for you

Spent the first few days of the month platinuming Journey to the Savage Planet with a friend; now we're finally giving Going Under the attention it deserves. So far it's a lovely little roguelike, although somewhat short on content it's yet to get repetitive; gameplay is solid and the "use anything as a weapon" gimmick is fun. The art design and characters are pretty cool too. This is now a Swomp fan account. In terms of actual game progress, finished the first playthrough of every dungeon and the midboss(?), now I have to do the hard mode run of them all, plus the free DLC stuff with the imposter. Almost done with every mentor's tasks.

Call of Duty: World at War (PS3)

I decided to start off by doing the DLCs, already got one done and I'll probably do the other one this week, it's just about understanting the map layout and the best strategies. I'm kinda scared to start the campaign, even knowing that I'm pretty good at COD, this was the first game that I trophy hunt all the way back in 2012 and it was not a good experience at all.

This trailer is absolutely gorgeous and I couldn't resist buying the game after watching it. The art style and the soundtrack are amazing, the dialogue with every NPC brings a smile to your face, the story is cool and all, but not that big of a deal. Since I did a blind playthrough, a second one was necessary to get the missables and collectables.

What a relaxing experience, the soundtrack fits perfectly with the gameplay, this game is going to help me a lot while doing World at War in veteran.

I'm kinda surprised of how good this game looks on the PS3, I was expecting the worst. This is my 5th playthrough, I can't describe how perfect this game is. Even trying to mess up with the choices I'm not capable to say bad things to Kate and Warren, remember... NPCs have feelings too.

I choose to play this game with 2 friends (each one with a different character), got it finished as a hacker and as soon as my other friend fix his internet issues I will finish as an agent and get that 100%.

Finally got a chance to work on some games this week.  My mother-in-law was visiting for a week and a half starting in June and it was pretty difficult to find the time to play any games aside from reading some VNs before bed (and now I realize I should've been working on the Zero Escape from my list, haha!). 

 

I managed to finish Sir Eatsalot tonight.  It's a game that I really like everything about it aside from actually playing it.  It looks good, has really charming characters, a great sense of humor, and a lot of effort went into trying to make the game use all of the unique features of the Vita.  Unfortunately, it just sucks to play.  It's a weird mix of 2D platforming and adventure game but it does neither genre well.  The platforming is slow and clumsy while the adventure game portion has a bunch of tedious fetch quests that require drastic backtracking. 

 

And the talking.  They never shut up in this game and it completely destroys any pacing this game might have.  The first part of the game initiates unskippable cutscenes and too long conversations on what feels like every other screen.  Once the game gives you a chance to actually play without interruptions, it mostly takes place in an awful underground tunnel system where you need to recharge a light to be able to see anything.  God it's just so not fun to backtrack through those tunnels.  I admire what this team tried to do here but it just doesn't work well.  As soon as I started this one up again, I realized why I dropped it all of those years ago.  Hopefully the rest on my list are more fun!

Just got my first trophy in Chaotic Shadow Warriors in 6 years. I forgot how terrible this game is.

Hey everyone, 

 

Here's my first update and first platinum trophy! I finished the first Mass Effect game and I loved it. I never played these games before and was hoping for an upgraded edition like this for some time. The game didn't disappoint even tho it's an older game. Especially the story and characters are well written. I had to replay a bit of the game because I missed one of the random trophies and I didn't have the person in my party to get that trophy. It didn't take me too long tho. I'll move on to the second game now, I'm exited to start it since they say it' the best one.

Finished up ME2 and am about halfway through ME3. I still absolutely love ME3. It just feels so good to play. Going to have to take a break for a couple days now to focus on school though. For whatever reason one of my professors has suddenly decided that the final paper is due at the end of week 2 of the term (Monday), rather than the end of the term. So I get to just do that for the next couple of days.

#327-Chaotic: Shadow Warriors

 

I bought this out of a bargain bin so I could boost the online with a buddy of mine. Once that horrible online was done I tried to do the single player but this game had so many collectibles and I accidentally went too far into the level and locked myself out of the majority of the trophies. I always meant to come back...but never did. Thanks toe the Summer Backlog Challenge this game, after 6 years, is finally finished.

 

This is not a good game...not at all. It is ugly, boring, handles poorly, worse camera than Mario 64 and has absolutely nothing that can be said positive about it. It is just loaded with bad game ideas. Things like regenerating bugs that don't hurt you but if they hit you enough you start about 20 seconds back, platforming in a game where your character has only heard of the concept of jumping, 1000 collectibles with a radar system that works when it wants to (for example I had found all the collectibles in a level but the radar sill told me there was one near by) and a battle system that had you using the six-axis controller because Sony loves to put shitty gimmicks into the controllers that only the early games actually used.

 

This game is an Ultra Rare platinum only because of the online and it is such a mess I don't recommend to anyone.
