Update a Trophy List

After a while, video game developers may change or add something to a trophy list on PSN. We have to be notified about those changes by you, because we have to go in and manually update those changes here on the site. If you know about something that changed, this is the place to report it! Simply reply to this thread and let us know what we need to update. Everything listed below are things that we can change.

 

Rescan a trophy list – we need to do that if a list has:

• New Languages: The developer adds new languages to an existing trophy list that isn’t on the site, usually if a Japanese game is coming to the west and English is added to the list.
• Altered Trophy Names & Descriptions: Sometimes developers will alter names and descriptions of trophies on a list sometime after the list has been added to the site. We can't alter the names or descriptions from something different than what's on PSN!
• New Trophy Images: In rare cases trophy images change (sometimes they may originally be inaccurate or mixed up and developers fix them).
• New Thumbnail Image: The small image that usually has a game’s logo or name may be changed someday after the list has been added to the site. This usually applies to Japanese & Korean games releasing in the West.

 

Region Tagging:

• If a game has multiple identical lists, let us know if it hasn't been region tagged yet or if was tagged incorrectly.
• When new identical lists get pushed onto the site, it may take up to 2 weeks to accurately determine its region and it may stay un-tagged until then.

 

Console/Platform Tagging:

• If a developer adds a console tag to a trophy list anytime after the list was added to the site, you’ll need to let us know about it because we need to manually add it.
• In rare cases, a trophy list may be tagged with a console that the game never released for or accidentally mis-labeled at random by the developer with a console it isn’t on, let us know about that and we’ll determine if we want to remove that. We do not want to remove tags for any and every game that isn’t on a console yet or 'probably maybe' won’t release on a console it’s tagged for. If possible, you'll need to provide proof or confirmation the game won't release on a console it's tagged for (For example: Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus not releasing on Vita).
• VR tags are only given to games which require a VR headset to play them. If a game requires a VR headset and is not tagged yet or the game is updated to not require VR anymore, be sure to let us know!

 

List Titles:

• If there is something weird about a list title, let us know about it!
• List titles are in standard formatting with all caps only used for acronyms or some game titles with ~4 or less letters. This means not all game titles will exactly match formatting on PSN, but it creates a uniform style across this entire website.
• We typically remove "add-on" text from game titles such as "Console Edition", especially if that game is the only version on that console. An exception is if there are instances where identical lists are on the same console and need to be differentiated.

Metadata (Developer, Publisher, Genre, Release Date, etc):

• We get this information from a website called IGDB.com, you can make an account there and alter any data that you find odd or wrong here! Simply make the changes there, then it will have to undergo an approval process on IGDB that usually takes about a day. After that, you will most likely have to tell us that a change was made on IGDB so we can scan that new information in here on PSNProfiles.
• There are games that do not have metadata here on the site (Mostly indie games or Japanese games), most likely meaning they aren’t existing game entries on IGDB.com, you can add a game onto the IGDB website after creating an account and once all the data you’ve entered for that game is approved, that data is typically automatically added by the site after about 1 week, but if not let us know here and we'll be able to link it!
• Games A - Z have their metadata linked (if that game is listed on IGDB). Non-English games are not yet all linked.

 

Game Series:

• Series boxes on the side of trophy lists are clickable which take you to the series page. If a game is missing from a series, let us know so that we could add it.
• Not all recommendations for new series will be immediately created. At the moment we are looking for clear, obvious series with 2 or more main titles. Right now we may not immediately create series for obscure games or games "in the universe of" other games. We want to focus on refining what's there at the moment and make sure those are laid out well before delving into other more vague series.
• We no longer make series for shovelware games as it's too tedious for us to keep up with the frequent releases and high volume of trophy lists.

 

Banner Images & Trophy Card Images:

• If there is an incorrect piece of art or screenshot used as a banner or trophy card image, this is where you can point that out to us. Alternative images can also be recommended but if there is already a set banner image or trophy card image set on the site for a game, consider that set in stone having that changed from its current decided image is rare - it would usually have to be more visually appealing and fit the image area better to be changed.
• Header image dimensions are 1920 pixels wide by 520 pixels tall (the top 60 pixels are blurred behind the site navigation area). We prefer fullsize original images we can crop from, not images cut at this exact size, recommended images should be at or beyond 1920 pixels wide (1600 wide at least).
• Trophy Card 1 (Old Card) dimensions are 405 pixels wide by 120 pixels tall. Trophy Card 2 (New Card) dimensions are 500 pixels wide by 165 pixels tall. Virtually any size images are accepted for this but high resolution uncropped images are preferred.

 

Shovelware Games:

• It may take up to a day for shovelware games to be properly tagged and filtered off of the main new games page, however many are instantly filtered out. There's no need to alert us of shovelware games on the day a list comes in as it's likely we just haven't been able to get to it yet.
• Even if a game has 11 gold trophies and you can get the platinum trophy in a laughably short time with very little effort, it's possible that we may not deem it as shovelware - for example if the game itself is still a full length, polished game. What we deem as shovelware could change in the future, depending on how these lists evolve over time, however for now we're sticking to the set criteria you see on the site currently.
• In some cases if a new game is added to the new games page with too many repeated lists but it's not a shovelware game, one list per platform will be shown and the rest of the repeated lists will be "marked shovelware" temporarily until those lists reach the second page to reduce spam on the new games page. Whenever the lists reach the second page, they will all be visible again from that point on.

Top notch job, Mango. Could you report back whenever you finish editing all the banners so we know about how much time it took you to fix all of them? (there is a fuckload of them, i know).

 

Only thing I would ask for is being more tolerant about the tag removal. Think it would be nice to remove tags of games that still doesn't have their release close or even announced yet (ex: mercenary kings is to come for the vita for MONTHS now and nothing yet). I wouldn't want to have someone looking this site and then buying the game thinking it was released for all platforms. I mean, I know people should search before buying, but still, most of them don't.

Only game I noticed with extra tags for systems that it will for sure never be coming to as the developer and publisher have confirmed that, is Escape Dead Island for PS3. It's listed as PS4/PS3/Vita, and was only released for PS3 back on November 18th, 2014. On PSN it does list that the trophy list is for PS4/PS3/Vita. Developer FatShark and publisher Deep Silver both confirmed before and after the game's release that it would not be coming to any other platforms besides PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

I plan to make it a little less strict after a while once most other things are done, but for now I want to I wanna focus on the other things. Also I'll probably say something once I'm done with banners, I did a good amount already, a lot of popular games and recent games and things like that.

Something's up with 結城友奈は勇者である-樹海の記憶 which causes it to always appear at the top of an alphabetical list. I think it begins with a space or invisible character or something.

 

For when you move onto fixing tags, I have these I'll post now so I don't forget:

Shantae: Risky's Revenge - Director's Cut is only available on PS4. There was never any discussion about it coming to PS3 or Vita before or after release, which was now over 15 months ago.

 

不思議の幻想郷-THE TOWER OF DESIRE- is Vita exclusive, and that's probably not going to change any time soon since the updated version has recently been released with a separate trophy list, and the upcoming western release has yet another unique list.

Mercenary Kings isn't tagged for Vita and I don't think it ever was.

 

I think the Vita version was actually announced before the PS4 version was released in 2014, but they do still seem to be working on it. Just a few days ago they posted a video of it running on the Vita and have been giving updates on Reddit.

Are there plans to change trophy milestones with non-English names to their equivalents?  I don't know if this requires a rescan for the game or a trophy list update.

Since this was not fixed by the site update, I presume this cannot be.

It happens to games that have Japanese list which became shared after localization. After that happens, it is immediately rescanned. 

However, trophy log, milestones and the trophy bar always show the original name.

For games A - L available metadata is linked for sure and list titles are straightened out. These will probably be finished in the coming days or something like that.

 

Banner images are being recropped and trophy card 2 images are being applied in a way where most visible games are done first and it goes from there. A lot of popular and most played games are already done but will definitely be in the coming weeks, ultimately recropping all banner images and applying every TC2 image (including Japanese games) will probably take a few months.

 

You guys will have to let me know about having to rescan trophy lists and console tags being added.

Star Ocean Integrity and Faithlessness still has Japanese trophy names if you click on the description or try to use the trophy guide. And it may be kinda late but Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2 still shows up in Japanese too if you try to read the description

Yeah this is something Sly (the owner of the site) will have to fix for guides to be like how it used to behave on the old site, I think this is on the bugnotes already  Also the Dragon Ball thing has been an issue overall for years now with a number of games, I think it displays the default language on individual trophy pages no matter what.

 

Basically these two things are a code-specific things I'm unable to fix on the backend, they'll be fixed with time

Anyway, from a brief look at my own account and it does not seem to be a code-specific problem but a trophy page/list specific.

Newer games that were shared and were rescanned no longer have Japanese trophies if you click on them.

I know we're switching uppercase titles to proper title case but are we switching Japanese titles to English? It's not mentioned. This one for example even has its English title on its thumbnail (would be Arcade Archives: Wonder Boy). 

 

Also there's an issue with WonderBoy Returns as it doesn't show up in search with the other games in the series, so maybe a space should be added to Wonder Boy like the others?

Sly doesn't want to change Japanese titles to English for now so I'll change the name of the Arcade Archives title to English when it gets released in the west.

I saw recently that the trophy thumbnail image for The Walking Dead: A New Frontier has changed and it will need to be rescanned, but i'm not sure if any of the trophy images have been changed as well  but it's worth rescanning incase they have been changed/updated too!

The Titanfall 2 Platinum has the wrong name.  It should be "Mark of the Advocate" but is showing as "Welcome to the 6-4"

Alright so I see the trophy names have been updated to the US version of them, should the name and list thumbnails be updated to the US versions as well? (Game is called Drakengard 3 in English, not Drag-On Dragoon 3 which is the Japanese name)
