Popular Post Yuber6969
One Nation Under Cloth Obtained an S rating on all Story Mode battles. I started the arena fighter, Kill la Kill: IF a couple of days ago, and to my surprise: the game is a bit challenging... but for the wrong reasons. The controls in this game are so bad that they ruin the game. This will require a bit of explanation. SEN-I-SOSHITSU is an instant-kill attack that every character can use, but you must first set it up. First, you have to get your Valor Rank to it's maximum level - which is 3. You do this by doing a Valor Burst, which triggers a rock-paper-scissors game (seriously). If you lose the game, you don't increase the rank. If you tie the game, your rank goes up by 1, but the game ends. If you win, your rank goes up by 1 and the game continues. RNG in a fighting game. What asshole on the development team thought that was a good idea? After you max out your Valor Rank, you have to press L1+R1 with a full special meter and successfully land the hit. The L1+R1 input is the biggest problem with this game, as it serves three different functions. Remember Valor Burst? Pressing L1+R1 while attacking executes a Valor Burst. Pressing it while being attacked executes a Counter Burst, which pushes your opponent back. And finally, pressing it while standing still (and after fulfilling the aforementioned conditions) executes SEN-I-SOSHITSU. L1+R1 might not have been an issue if it was implemented smoothly, but it was not. There are so many times that I press L1+R1 while attacking, and I initiate a Counter Burst instead of a Valor Burst for some reason, wasting my special meter. It's extremely frustrating. Also, any fight where you have more than one target is annoying as your character automatically locks-on to the target closest to them. Most fights that have more than one opponent have one very dangerous opponent and a bunch of pawns. I got screwed over many times. Ranks are calculated based on remaining HP, time, and "offense." The offense stat is pretty vague, but basically you have to be aggressive to score well. On some of the harder fights, or the ones with multiple targets, I usually ended up with a low HP score because I would automatically lock-on to some pawn, and then have 1/3 of my health eaten away by the one dangerous opponent attacking me from behind. The most difficult and frustrating battle to score an S rank on was the final battle of Ryuko's story. You have to successfully execute SEN-I-SOSHITSU to even win the fight, and you have to do it quickly to maintain a good time score. Being aggressive to raise your offense score is hard to do because the boss can take out nearly half of your health in one combo. Yuber6969
Not a Stitch Out of Place Won 50 consecutive battles in Survival Challenge. This trophy requires you to beat 50 opponents in a row in Survival Challenge. The first few opponents are no-star difficulty, then eventually 1-star opponents start showing up, and this pattern continues up to 3-star difficulty opponents. You recover very little health between fights - usually below 5%. Your special gauge is carried over to the next round. Your valor rank is maintained between fights. but will sometimes drop by 1 before a fight starts. Using Mako, I had no trouble with this trophy. Mako is completely overpowered. She can take out her opponents in 2 or 3 combos and when I say "combos," I mean pressing square repeatedly. What makes her even more broken is that this combo can easily chain into her SEN-I-SOSHITSU, even if the opponent blocks it. The combo also increases her special gauge quickly, making it easy to abuse her SEN-I-SOSHITSU. To make this even easier, the game seems to give you easier opponents if you play as Mako. Almost all of my opponents were no-star difficulty. I had about 10 1-star opponents, 5 2-star opponents, and no 3-star opponents. The guide says that you can even get runs where every opponent is no-star difficulty. I tried Survival Challenge with the dual-wield variant of Satsuki and only beat about 25 opponents IIRC.
Yuber6969
I got all of the trophies related to the Cover Challenges, except for one which is just a grind. Cover Challenges involve fighting several groups of covers (small enemies that die quickly) under various circumstances. 100 Seconds, 100 Victories Cleared 100-Man Brawl within 100 seconds. In the 100-Unit Extermination mode, you have to destroy 99 regular covers and 1 large one in 100 seconds. As per the guide's instructions, I used Ragyo and spammed her square -> circle combo. This trophy was easy. Fibers of Fury Defeated 150 enemies in 1 Minute Brawl. You have to beat 150 covers in a minute. It's literally impossible to do this in 60 seconds, but covers can sometimes drop items that increase your time. This took me about 5 tries. First of all, luck is involved as covers don't always drop time bonuses. Secondly, as I mentioned before, you automatically lock on to the nearest opponent. Combine this with the fact that you can't move the camera, and it can be hard to see if the covers dropped the time bonus items. 1000 Kills a Day Defeated 1000 units in Endless Brawl. In Endless Extermination, there is no time limit, but you are tasked with defeating 1000 units in one sitting. This also took me about 5 tries. Every time you kill about 150 covers, a large cover appears. If it wasn't obvious, they have more health and do more damage. Because of the aforementioned lock-on issue, I would often be locked on to a regular cover while getting attacked by the large cover from behind.
Popular Post Yuber6969
Kill la Kill: IF Rarity: 11.81% Difficulty: 5/10 Enjoyment: 6/10 I should start by saying that I've never watched the Kill la Kill anime nor have I read the manga (assuming there is one). My enjoyment of the game may have been different if this was not the case. As I mentioned a couple of times in earlier updates: the controls in this game are really bad. L1+R1 serving three different functions while the L2 and R2 buttons are completely unused was a very stupid design choice. You can't move the camera, which could have easily been controlled by the unused right analog stick. You can't choose who you are locked-on to when battling multiple opponents at once. It's a shame that this was an issue, because I could tell that the game would have been a lot of fun if the buttons were mapped properly. Also, the rock-paper-scissors mechanic is something that I'm sure no one wants in a fighting game. There is a degree of challenge in this game, but only because of the bad controls. In addition to this, the roster only has 10 characters, and there are only 6 stages to choose from. One positive about the game is that the characters do feel different from one another. The story is not welcoming for people who don't know anything about the anime. You get no backstory on any of the characters. It felt like I started the story after someone else played it for an hour or two. The story was mildly entertaining, but I was unable to get emotionally invested in it since the characters were not properly introduced to me. I fell asleep while the watching the ending (from tiredness, not boredom) and I don't care enough to pull up YouTube and see what I missed. If they fixed all of the issues I mentioned, I would play a sequel for about $20. I could tell that the game had a lot of potential.
Honor_Hand
I can really recommend the Kill la Kill anime. It's one of those Trigger series that absolutely deserves a watch. It has a very unique premise, the characters stand out a lot in their designs, it's super hilarious and, above that, it's batshit crazy at times. Loved the heck out of it. No idea about the written works of this one but the anime I can totally recommend if you're up to watching a good, crazy show. =D Now, the game. I was planning on playing this one at some point soon but I can see it has some issues with its controls. What with having way too many functions attached to the same button combination, that's always a source of frustration. That being said, I such had a blast with the anime that I can see myself playing this one with a smile no matter the downsides. ^^ And I'm sure Mankanshoku Mako is the best character in this game without having tried it out already. She was the most kickass character in the anime by far so I'm sure the same stands here, lmao. xxD
Yuber6969
@Honor_Hand I rarely watch TV/anime these days because I would rather use that time to play games, but I'll be sure to check out Kill la Kill if I get back into anime. Speaking of Mako, when I first saw her I was like "Honor would like her." Edited May 30, 2022 by Yuber6969
Popular Post Yuber6969
Guilty Gear Rarity: 13.19% Difficulty: 5/10 Enjoyment: 5/10 Thanks @Copanele for the trophy guide! To get 100% completion, you have to clear "Normal Mode" (basically Arcade) with every character and beat the secret boss. Considering the short and repetitive content, I did not see the point in making multiple updates for this game. That's not to say that I didn't find the game to be hard though. As is the case with many retro fighting games, the AI is brutal. As far as I could tell, they don't read inputs, but the upper-level opponents are difficult. Even with cheese methods, I had to retry against Testament (the second-last boss) with the majority of the characters. He's very aggressive and has long combos. The last boss - Justice, was less difficult, but still hard as she has attacks that can drain almost half of your health even if you block them. To fight Baiken, you have to clear Normal Mode with Sol or Ky without losing a round, but you can save yourself from losing by pressing Start on a second controller. This condition was more annoying than difficult, but thankfully Baiken is pretty easy if you use Ky. The story was better than those of other fighting games of that era, but as someone who has been spoiled by BlazBlue, I was not impressed. However, I do have faith that the Xrd games will have a very good story. Edited July 11, 2022 by Yuber6969 Changed the difficulty rating
Popular Post AihaLoveleaf
Great job, Yuber. ? I checked out the videos you shared before of the game, and it is very much a retro PS1 fighter, by the looks of it. Testament sounds like a real pain in the ass, which makes it all the more hilarious to see him get smacked by May's TOTSUGEKI! ?
Copanele
At long last you started the other major Arcsys game ?congrats! You might still like Blazblue more even after experiencing Guilty Gear games (usually people like the series that they start with the most) buut this franchise has a good story too. Just excuse the madness that was this game, it was released in 1998 after all at least there is no SNK input reading bullshit here, just "imma fire all my cannons at once, learn how to deal with it" gameplay. GG XX Accent Core will make more sense and feel more close to Blazblue quality once you start it. 2 hours ago, AihaLoveleaf said: Testament sounds like a real pain in the ass, which makes it all the more hilarious to see him get smacked by May's TOTSUGEKI! FreshFromThaDeli
Well done. Accent Core is the best GG and Potemkin is the best character in GG. Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise.
Honor_Hand
Cool to see the first GG completed under your profile, Yuber. I have yet to experience the GG franchise to its fullest. I have already played some of the games elsewhere, and I have at least 2 pending games left to finish under my profile (XX Accent Core plus & Xrd: Revelator), but 1998's GG is one I have not played. Glad to see there's no SNK's input reading bullshit on this one, just a difficult game but not cheap in any way. As the others have mentioned, the series gets progressively better the most you dive with the latest games, so yeah, wait till you get there. ^^
Popular Post Yuber6969
Thanks guys!@AihaLoveleaf Testament is a cheap asshole. Instakilling him was super satisfying. @Copanele I'm glad to hear that the story starts picking up in Accent Core. I assumed I'd have to wait until Xrd. I really need my BlazBlue fix. @FreshFromThaDeli Potemkin was actually the only character that I didn't struggle to beat the game with, but you're wrong about one thing: Millia is the best. She can kick ass well not really but she's hot. @Honor_Hand I'll be doing Accent Core next actually. I chose the Vita version over the PS3 version to avoid online trophies as you know, but after struggling a bit with this game, I might pick up the PS3 version instead. Last thing I need is a repeat of Love Max's inflated difficulty on the Vita. ?

Popular Post Yuber6969
I started Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R. Between plot summaries and YouTube playthroughs of the games between the first game and this one, I made sure to go into this game caught up on the lore. That's some skill you have [Mission] Completed 5 missions with any character. This is the easiest Mission Mode trophy I've done in this challenge so far. The challenges were so easy that I didn't even know what the win condition was most of the time, and I still cleared most of the challenges by button mashing. Popular Post Yuber6969
Time Traveler [Survival] Selected Time Traveling skill 3 times in a row. To get this trophy, you have to reach level 860 and beat that level's boss in Survival Mode 3 times in one session. You gain levels every time you damage your opponent, and you fight a boss after every 20 levels (there are exceptions to this). When you beat a boss, you select one of four items that will either increase a stat or give you some kind of perk such as health regeneration. When you beat Golden Axl (the boss of level 860), one of the items allows you to "time travel," meaning you go back several levels. Basically you have to reach and beat Golden Axl 3 times in one session. I had a very hard time with this at first. As instructed by both the PS3 version's guide and the Vita version's guide, I used Justice. She's extremely slow, and I had trouble inputting her overdrives on the Vita's shitty d-pad. After some trial and error, some help from @Copanele, and some watching of YouTube videos, I mastered Justice's cheese methods and ended up having a mostly easy time with this trophy. Firstly, I discovered that if you do a 6246S/HS motion, the game will count it for the 632146S/HS motion. Secondly, I discovered that while Justice's 22P fireball is slowly heading towards the opponent, you can walk towards them as well. This was a game changer because it made it very easy to pressure the AI. After discovering these two things, the only opponents I had trouble with were I-No at anything higher than level 700, and Golden Zappa at level 800. Yuber6969
Arcade Complete! [Arcade] Complete with any character (any difficulty) The guide for the Vita version of this game fails to mention that you have to fight the secret boss (Order Sol) in order to get this trophy. I cleared Arcade Mode without fighting him and did not get the trophy. I'm not sure what the requirements are to fight him, but I know that it has to do with using a lot of instakills or overdrives. I died against I-No once in my second Arcade Mode run, and was still able to fight Order Sol, who completely wrecked me. Thankfully, you don't have to beat him to get the trophy, you just have to fight him. The regular final boss, I-No, is tough even on the lowest difficulty setting. She can't be instakilled and she has a bullet-hell style attack that is tough to dodge. On my first Arcade Mode run, she killed me about 5 times before I learned how to dodge it.
Popular Post Yuber6969
Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus R Rarity: 1.74% Difficulty: 6/10 Enjoyment: 7/10 Thanks @Copanele for the guide! (I played a different version but was still able to use some parts of his guide) This is a vast improvement from the first game in every regard. There's way less jank in this one, and I could probably even say that there was no jank, but it's hard to say for sure since I played this with the Vita's awful d-pad. The AI was still pretty tough even on the easiest difficulty, but instakills are easier to pull off in Accent Core. Survival Mode was the only barrier to 100% in this game, and it's not that bad with Justice's cheese methods. The last boss of Arcade Mode is pretty cheap too but it took me no more than roughly 5 tries to beat her. The trophies in this game are more annoying than they are difficult. You have to see all endings in Story Mode, and some of them have annoying requirements such as winning with a Time Up victory, which is hard to do because the AI is aggressive. There's also an RNG based trophy that requires you to keep playing on a specific stage until one of the NPCs in the background does something different than they usually do. Worst of all, there's a trophy for playing on all 49 stages of the game (the guides say 47, but I counted many times and got 49). The trophy seems glitched because I had to play on some stages more than once to pop the trophy, and yes - I'm sure that I didn't miss any as I was using a checklist. For some reason, you also have to spend 5 hours in training mode, which wouldn't be too annoying if this was on a PS3/PS4. For those who don't know, the Vita goes into sleep mode if you're idle for more than 30 minutes (or less, depending on your settings). As far as I know, there is no way to disable this, so this trophy can't be fully AFKed. I'm starting to enjoy the Guilty Gear story. In my opinion, it's not nearly as good as BlazBlue's so far, but I heard that it gets a lot better from Xrd onwards, and I believe it. I think the protagonist (Sol) is incredibly boring and I miss Ragna. However, a lot of the other characters are entertaining to me in one way or another. Johnny is really cool and Robo-Ky made me laugh out loud on several occasions. The game did a good job in the fanservice department as well; Baiken, Millia, and especially I-No are all hot. I got a chance to try all characters since I had to for the Story Mode trophy, and I liked Baiken's counter-based combat style. Assuming she plays similarly in Xrd and has some decent combos, she will likely be my main.
Copanele
Big congrats there! I am SO glad you enjoyed this game. Since I know you are a Blazblue fan, I was a bit worried that you won't enjoy Guilty Gear as much. Happy to see that you ended up having fun with it, and on a Vita nonetheless. Obviously on PS3 the game moves way smoother. As for jank...let's say that Testament is the same ass that he was in the original GG. 7 hours ago, Yuber6969 said: I'm starting to enjoy the Guilty Gear story. All I can say that yes, despite me being a diehard GG fan, even I can tell that Ragna is abit more deep than Sol (or at least for GG XX standards, Sol gets a mad character upgrade in the next games). And yep, Baiken is played the same in XRd, WITH some extra shenanigans. You will love her new animations too. She gets dumbed down in Strive though, so that's a pity Best of luck with following Guilty Gear 2 Overture's story. cm-PUNK2000
Very interesting read! and this challenge sounds interesting! from those i've only platinumed Cross tag, Central fiction, Arena ultimax, Kill la kill, and under night. Cross tag of which was my first BB game and that was fun and easy, then I did Central fiction which admittedly was hard but i knew that i had to push myself to do it because i was looking forward to the release of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax and being a huge persona fan i wanted that plat more than anything, so i managed to get central fiction after i bought the DLC character, then Arena ultimax almost broke me with the combo challenges but after soooo many hours i managed to get the shadow lab combo and the plat. After arena i decided to put these games on a long possibly infinite pause as i was planning to play chronophantsma extend next but i thought its too much of a pain in the butt. Tho more recently i platinumed under-night and i had a ton of fun with a stress free fighting game plat and it reminded me why i play these games in the first place and how fun they actually are, and i plan to do Fighting EX and Nitroplus soon (they're both fun looking anime fighters with easy looking plats check em out) and i did the platinum for kill la kill a few years prior when i was into the anime and the game was cheap on sale. from the other stuff i'll probably man up and do chronophantasma extend at some point because i feel i've gotten so much better at these games that i honestly cant imagine that it'll be that bad to do that plat now, besides its the last ps4 blazblue plat i need and ill deffo not do the ps3 or vita ones. And i'll do guilty gear strive whenever it's cheaper. Keep it up and best of luck dude!
AihaLoveleaf
Great job getting it done, Yuber! Balls of steel as usual, for going for the Vita completion, of all things. I've seen all the annoyances in Accent Core - like the survival mode (a real "2/10" there), while keeping up with the updates, but it's nice to see none of it got in the way of finishing the trophy list. 9 hours ago, Yuber6969 said: The game did a good job in the fanservice department as well; Baiken, Millia, and especially I-No are all hot.
