offdutysuperhero
Im not all too familiar with server rentals on ps3. But whats stopping developers from allowing server rentals from online games that have shutdown completely on ps4 Excuse my ignorance just looking for some information regarding this. HuntingFever
AFAIK, only Battlefield 4 offers Server Rentals on the PS3. The short version is that it all comes down to money and the fact developers and publishers don't want to spend any on old games, especially those with now dead servers that long since been closed, since they would much rather you spend your cash on the latest entry in that series instead of messing around with an older one. It's not cheap to keep servers running, especially if they're based on old tech no-one uses any more and have security more holes in them than Swiss Cheese so require frequent, costly maintenance. Also, Server Rentals are pretty much an EA only thing at the moment since only they have the resources and clout to make it happen. It's a nice idea but will never happen. Fan servers exist for a tiny number of ancient PS3 games but they likely cost a lot of money to keep running, plus it's not easy to reverse engineer the server code to make it happen.
