Popular Post Aranea Highwind
Since the launch of PS5, our teams have been working to continuously enhance your experience on the console. Later this year, we’re rolling out another major system update packed with new features, and we want your help testing them out! Starting today, you can register for an opportunity to join the first-ever PS5 system software beta program at: https://www.playstation.com/ps5/ps5-beta-program-sign-up. Registration is open to players over the age of 18 in the U.S., Canada, Japan, U.K., Germany and France. By signing up, you could be among the first to put new features to the test and provide essential feedback that will help guide their development. If you’re selected to be part of the program, you’ll receive an email with instructions on how to download the beta version of the next system software. In order to sign up, you’ll need a PS5 console with an internet connection and a PlayStation Network account. You will also be added to the potential participant pool for future PS5 system software betas automatically without having to register again. After the beta begins, you can restore your system software to the latest official release version before the beta program ends. Our last major PS5 system update in April introduced new features like USB extended storage, cross-generation Share Play, an improved Game Base and other UI enhancements and social features. We’ll share more in the coming weeks about what you can expect in the beta for our next update. Whether you’re a new or returning PlayStation beta tester, we thank you for your support. Your feedback helps us make the console experience better for our whole community. https://blog.playstation.com/2021/06/17/sign-up-for-the-first-ps5-system-software-beta-program/#sf246871549 https://www.playstation.com/en-us/ps5/ps5-beta-program-sign-up/ Edited June 17, 2021 by Aranea Highwind

mcnichoj
Considering the state the PS5 launched in I won't risk it. I appreciate the work of the people that will do the betas though.

What they do is look at the backend statistics to see what people are using, if anything breaks, and if the new features are working as intended. I like how MS does their betas, they have an open forum that allows people to make suggestions that sometimes actually get implemented. Sony needs to open up and take feedback and suggestions as they lock themselves away and put out what they think we want without confirming first. Stuff like the stupid censoring of any 'naughty' words when posting to Twitter, no folders, no pinning of games to the home screen, no checking for updates within the library, no patch notes, no warning if you accidentally click a different game on the home screen and it closes the game you're in, etc... The censored words needs fixing though, I was posting a tweet about an upgraded game and I put in the tweet "Now 4k/60 on the PS5" and that was flagged. basically, "60 on" is classed as a 'naughty word' as I think it's reading it as Goon (which isn't even rude). Games with swear words in the titles can't be tweeted out, you can't tag certain developers or games, and it thinks innocent words are bad because it breaks them down to see if a word has a bad word within it. It's really annoying.
