I know English trophies for Japanese games isn't unusual, but does the Japanese version have English language support? Or is it strictly Japanese?

It's strictly Japanese with a couple of English words, like "Key" and "Time" here and there in the menus. No English language option.

Sony ended all Vita support last Summer so no patch for you I'm afraid . You will have to get it on the PS4 if you want to play it in English.
