So this is basically a GotY edition? If so then hopefully there will be a disc edition with everything on the disc. This is why I wait to get games, I would rather get a complete edition on disc.

Yea. You can also rent it and 100% it.

all i need to know is how to keep my 100% for the ps4.  The game looked great and played great on the ps4 pro don't need to upgrade and buy the game again.  Just want my 100%. Getting to be a trend having to pay unexpected money to keep a 100% which is teaching me to buy games several years after release for cheap.  I didn't have a big backlog of games until recently so i think this will be a the trend for me going forward.

As I finally understood, the Iki island DLC won't be selling as separate expansion. That's so called "DC content", which will be available only for DC versions of the game, both PS4 and PS5. In that case, I suppose, original game will definitely get new expansion trophy set too. And the only way to gain 100% again - upgrade your game

Glad I held off on buying this. It's at the top of my want-list, but yeah, haven't grabbed it yet for various reasons.

Can anyone please give their thoughts on how this game runs on the base/vanilla PS4?

From what I remember it was totally fine. Even had the very quick load times.

But if you are sensitive to framerate, apparently it DOES drop to like 25 fps sometimes. You might want to read/watch this:

Looking forward to the new content. I would venture to guess that the Director's Cut to Death Stranding will take a similar approach? Experimenting with the economics of upgrade paths where the generational divide hardly exists is going to take some time. This is already confusing some folks.

I just got the platinum a little while ago and overall let's just say I wasn't as enamored with the game as a lot of people were (though I found it much more enjoyable when I got my PS5 and could play it at 60fps, pushed me to actually beat the game and eventually plat it) so I won't be jumping into a PS5 version any time soon. I am interested in the new island though, hopefully it isn't as tedious to clear it 100%.

Thanks for the info, and for the video! I'm very easy going when it comes to framerate, As long as a game is well optimized, I'm fine with 30fps w/ the occasional dip. I assumed the game would run okay being an exclusive and all, but I'm still appreciative for info like yours because you never know these days. Looking at you, Bloodborne.

@Helyx Thank you for your thoughts as well. :)

I'm right there with you.  Was hoping for a Miles Morales-like release.  Bundle with the original game, but stands on it's own.  As I'm still holding on to my 100%, 30 hours of co-op/online mode sounds a bit daunting.  Though, I thought I heard somewhere they are adding to the Legends DLC, maybe that will make it not as much of a grind.

The Legends DLC is the only DLC I haven’t done on my account for any game (more of an exclusive specialist with PS as a primarily Xbox gamer). Legends DLC looked difficult on launch and assembling a raid crew wouldn’t have been feasible. No idea what it’s like now, or if it’s feasible to do it solely through matchmaking

I can't believe how many people are whining over them charging money for a DLC upgrade. Did you forget all the good things they did for free over the last year? Free PS5 patch that offered 60FPS right as the PS5 came out, free extremely fun multiplayer with multiple modes and actual raids and absolutely ZERO microtransactions.

Then they ask money for a big new content drop and they're a bunch of money-hungry scammers? How can you be so entitled? If you don't feel like it's worth it, don't buy it, but don't drag a company who's done nothing but give for the past year through the mud for trying to earn a living.

i agree with this, i just think some parts of the world, the price isnt worth it. IE: 20USD = 25CDN. 27AUD.  There's many other games coming out that are far more interesting than an expansion. I do hope to see a full sequel that they can add more mechanics to and add more to the world, but a simple expansion won't be enough for me.

Its a wait for sale.

It really didn't do anything different.  to be honest the missions were a bit repetitive and i got sick of hearing all the quest givers whine and cry about shit.  loved the track following the game had you do over and over.  you would follow the tracks up the hill and around a bit and if you drew a straight line the end of the tracks were usually only a few feet away from the start.  The raid was actually really good though.  Just wasn't a big fan of the story.  the game plays better on higher difficulties as well.  people who played it on easy probably didn't get anything out of it gameplay wise.

wow really you fell for that dude?  They released this DLC within about a month or two of the game coming out.  It wasn't free it was part of the game.  It was planned to be included from the beginning.  What you think sucker punch said wow they really liked our game and threw together a raid and  a bunch of co-op stories together really quick  and gave them away like  bunch of non-profiteering good christians?  I'm not complaining about paying for their money grab which is what it is i'm simply saying i personally don't need to upgrade the game for money it was good enough visuals and bang for the buck as it was.  I thinks you're sucker for marketing schemes.  Sure they looked really great at the beginning but they are going for the cash grab just like everyone else in the end.

I wonder if that's why we are waiting for more native PS5 exclusive upgrades. Like Horizon, GoW, Days Gone etc.

Seems like Sony is not such big fan of free next gen upgrades, they prefer to add something to base game, either expansion or make it a remaster I guess.

I wonder if more games like this will follow. Like Horizon Zero Dawn remastered for 40$ released with Forbidden West.

Don't know what to think about this approach to be honest. On the one hand you do get more content that warrants the price, but on the other hand my cynic side feels like both this and Spiderman remaster were created solely as an excuse to re-release the game. I guess Nintendos business model is spreading

Yeah man, the mission structure was pretty whack, the story and characters were mostly forgettable and clichéd and the exploration and side content was just too Ubisoft for my liking. Only thing I loved were the visuals and the versatility given to the player in combat, which I found extremely fun especially as more advanced moves unlocked. More power to those who loved it more than I, but Game of the Year? Hell nah (and I don't fully agree with the other Game of the Year either, my GotY for 2020 was Final Fantasy VII Remake... which I suppose a lot of people would also find absurd).

Maybe I’m in the minority but I think the pricing is fair considering their DLC practice so far. We have only had an $11 Deluxe Edition upgrade and a free Legends mode. No Season Pass or nickel and diming. I wouldn’t count deluxe edition as paid DLC (a lot of games have D.E.’s) so this would be the first paid DLC and it’s a big one. Now if they keep adding more paid DLC we’ll have a different conversation. $20 for a DLC expansion then $10 more if you want the full experience on PS5 also doesn’t seem unfair. IMO

Charging for the dlc (or expansion, as they like to claim nowadays) is totally fine, even though I won't pay $20 for it.

It's the $10 to go from PS4 version to PS5 that is gross and uncalled for.

I don't think anyone is upset about paying for the dlc, just that you have to pay AGAIN to upgrade to PS5 version, especially when basically every other game allows it for free.

I'm looking forward to play more content from this fantastic game. I always love coming back to it from time to time as well as the multiplayer.

I'm only confused about the payment for upgrade on PS5. Paying for additional expansion is understandable, but upgrade from PS4 to PS5 should be free. That being said, I'm looking forward to play more regardless.

I can kind of see where you’re coming from. We have gotten used to free upgrades.

It’s just my opinion but the improvements alone are worth the $10 to me:

-Lip sync for both English and Japanese voice over.

-Haptic feedback and adaptive triggers

-3D audio

-Drastically improved load times

-Different 4K resolution options (presumably a performance and visual mode), and targeted 60 fps.

Not to mention the graphics upgrade. It’s already a beautiful game on PS4. I expect it to be brain melting on PS5.

Someone’s got to paid for that work too. Wreckfest has a $10 upgrade fee also and the scope of that game is small compared to GoT. Unless you got it free with PS Plus, you’re not gonna get as much bang for your buck. Unless you love Wreckfest and hate GoT but that’s another story.

Slightly off topic but I’m just not a fan of the upgrade system as a whole. Every previous console generation, if you wanted the game for the newest system you bought it full price or if its a game from earlier in the generation’s lifecycle you waited a couple years for a remastered version and paid full price. I don’t do it, but now people can auto pop trophies easier than a $10 Ratalaika plat, transfer saves, all while saving them money and preventing them from buying the game at full price like we used to do. It’s all very convenient but I feel the upgrade system has divided gamers and made them get used to having all these conveniences handed to them for free. Sooner or later, more companies will start developing only for the PS5 generation. Then we can look back and reflect on this age of upgrades. Rant over, sorry. :P

And this is the issue. Free upgrades have been (for the most part), the norm. I can only think of Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1+2 Remaster off the top of my head that charged you to upgrade, as you needed the deluxe version, but it you already owned that version, it was free. (feel free to correct me with other games that have charged for upgrading).

I have no issue paying $20/£16 for the expansion. I just did that with FF7 Remake Integrade and the Yuffie DLC. A sizeable piece of extra content, well worth the money.

Sucker Punch have absolutely nailed the added content for GoT post launch...... This is their first misstep in my opinion, and I am obviously not alone reading this forum
