I asked myself the same and i found this on trueachivements: "I've been running hive missions to work on that achievement and progress on this achievement ticks up if I do it at challenge III, though I have done some other missions that didn't count. I would suggest doing hive missions at challenge III to work toward 2 achievements at once." So maybe it does count?
