I reckon they could have made the trophies harder on this rather than just trophies alone for completing the level, like doing certain things on a level or maybe some collectibles throughout? (I know we all hate collectables) but wouldn't mind putting in a bit more work for the platinum.

It's entirely the community's fault because too many of us caved and started buying easy trophies, myself included. There's now a dedicated market for it that's easy to profit from. The only way this site could somewhat relieve it is not making a new slot on the front page and in the games list for each individual stack but group them all together

People buying shite purely for trophies. It's something I'll never understand. It's getting beyond a joke. The amount of shovelware that hunters are eating up. So they can try one up each other on platinum totals.

 

Unpopular opinion especially on this site. But Trophies/Achievements have become a joke and are killing gaming. I've had a lot more fun gaming since I stopped trophy hunting.

I'm not even sure it's easy games that are the issue.

 

I roll my eyes when I see 6 or 8 trophy stacks for the one easy game though. Has there ever been 6 to 8 stacks for an even remotely medium to difficult hard game? Multi region platinums honestly feel like a scam now. Sure the games are cheap, but if you are buying it 8 times, that's practically a full price of the game going into the developer's pockets.

For me it's always inbetween. Trophy hunting is sometimes a challenge and I love it. Sometimes I play a game and take a long break it and come back 2 or 3 years later to get the platinum. I will never waste my money on shit like My Name Is Mayo etc. (I know I have MNIM and MNIS2 platinumed but I got it shared and never bought myself.) If I buy a visuel novel (for example those succubus games) I would read through it instead of clicking and unlocking my platinums in 50 seconds. Of course everybody on his own but games like Breaktrough, autopop ps4/ps5 games and other shit killed leaderbords imo.

 

If I have fun I don't mind "hunting" the platinum. If a game ia beyond my skill I drop it totally. Gaming must be fun but some people don't play for enjoyment. I see people wirh 300 platinumes and no platinum is over 10 minutes. Just multiple stacks and shitty games. I will never understand it. Do these people enjoy gaming? Isn't it pure boredom and waste of money? But you can copy and paste this in every thread when a shitty game comes out. It's always the same. Trophy whores buy it, some are complaining and some didn't care at all. I don't care at all. I play what I love and yeah if your waste your life on shitty games. Go for it

5 for Final Fantasy XV ;).

 

Now I'd love a new Trophy list for some of my favourite games that only have one. I'm hoping the physical complete edition of SoR 4 has a new list (doubtful though) or maybe a native PS5 version will be released.

 

But I agree with your point. It's a bit much now.

 

Btw: one of these games does have my interest. Maybe yours as well as I know you are a beat'm up fan like me. It's Eight Dragons, has a heap of stacks and does not look bad.

It's those people that brag about their amazing platinum amounts too. 

 

I'm on a FB group and it's full of em lol I find entertainment in trolling them so it's all good.

 

People getting the old point and click games and finding a step by step guide to follow... Where is the fun in that? Also those puzzle games like picross and word search. Following a guide to do those lol I can't imagine how dull and boring that must be.

 

I can only speak of my personal experience with trophy hunting but games just became a checklist of things to do. I found myself going down this checklist instead of just playing the game and enjoying it. Checking a trophy guide and seeing the spoilers so you could make sure you didn't miss a trophy also ruined a lot of games for me.

I've been retired from active trophy hunting for over a year now and it's the best decision I've ever made, because now I just play the games I want, when I want, how I want and don't feel obligated to buy something just because there are trophies attached (trophies are beyond meaningless to me these days). I play games to relax, not get so enraged I want to throw my controller at the wall and if that means following a Guide from beginning to end - so be it.

Yeah, i also buy these ridiculous easy games for trophies. But my 7 year old girl loves these easy games because she also likes getting the trophies on her guest account. I almost feel like i have to buy these games just to stay on par with other trophy hunters. 

 

One thing i can say is that i NEVER stack any games for trophies. Thats one rule i have. No duplicate platinums. I do not think it should be allowed to stack games from 5 different countries. Trophies should only count from the country you live in.  Im not sure why this is even allowed to do imo.

 

I have a very wide range of games i play. From ridiculously hard games ill never platinum but still trying, to the great triple A games to these easy platinums. I agree that these games should Not have a platinum attached to them. They shoukd be like 8 bronze, 2 silvers, and a gold for 100%. Something like that.

Your first paragraph is debatable imo but I respect your opinion. Some people still enjoy those games because they still get the story without stucking hours and hours on some riddles and you have to be honest.  Some point and click riddles were random af. But yeah I understand the enjoyment of those p&c games. "TalkING", "USINg" etc. On every item and people and you always get hilarious dialogues or answers. 

 

But when it comes to your second parapragh I agree 100% with you. I have seen so many picross and word search games on the front page it's like those 6+ stacks. I would be bored playing this game with a guide..

 

But like I said. There are so many great games why should I waste my time with games which I don't enjoy? I mean okay if you wanna be the best on the leaderbord there is no other way. You have to play those shitty games inbetween and I respect that but other people with new accounts? Whatever..

For some numbers are more important than the context your adding to your profile.

I would stack only the good games that had effort/ passion/ budget into it (games i liked)

Set my standards from the very beginning, im supporting what i like only till the end. Once it's over it's over.

Stop buying this kind of games - developers will stop making them. What is Sony gonna do about it? As far as they are concerned, it's a small project from a small indie developer. You can't not allow someone to publish their game because "the trophy list looks too easy".

But we all know why these games exist...and it's disgusting. So again, stop buying this kind of games.

Yeah, I saw this coming from a mile away, and unfortunately it's only going to get worse from here. I don't believe any game that lets you get a platinum in 10 minutes should be allowed to exist. If these games had non-platinum lists and no stacks, it wouldn't be as much of a problem. 

 

But, I try not to focus on them or people that basically pay for platinums. I just enjoy the games I like and go from there. There's still some OG trophy hunters out here!

Hmmm. Those Type of Games changed my whole perspective and behavior of trophy hunting itself. I Tackled about 3 Months ago some Visual Novels, just for the Platinum through skipping and came to this Point. It's not Worth it. Since then my Goal became Simple: Play Games you want the plat or 100% and go for hard ones, too. Just to compete with easy stacks is pointless for me.

 

 

And we can all Agree at some Point, it's Sony's Fault, to let those type of Games in the Store in the First Place.

This whole Trophy System get's extremly abused and Sony should rework this from the Ground. If someone want's to play shovelware, it's okay for them i guess, it's not my Cup of Tea anymore.

You are absolutely right. I only ever see the same people complaining in such threads. According to the motto: Everything used to be better, today everything is bad, we want the good old times back. Okay Boomers. I also don't like some changes related to trophies, for example stacking. But I know nothing is as constant as change and I try to make the best of it for myself. We need fresh blood here.
