Mission 100%: Fall/Winter Backlog Challenge

 

Special thanks to @damon8r351 @colinmazzini and @ShadowStar83x for their parts in hosting the challenge!

If you're like me, you've got an insanely large backlog and have no good reason you keep putting it off and watching it grow. Why not do something about it? Like previous backlog challenges, this event is a challenge to the community to select between 5 and 45 games from your backlog and complete them to 100% starting 00:01 AM EST September 1, 2021 and ending at 23:59 US EST on February 28. 2022. If you complete the maximum of 45 before the end of the challenge, you can add up to 15 more games for a total of 60.

Now, here are the details and rules. 

• Event Philosophy: This is a firm commitment to complete the games you say you will within the time limit, so choose games you know you can finish, and select a manageable number. The minimum for the event is 5 games, and the maximum is 45. If you finish 45 games, you can add up to 15 more. You can change your games as much as you want until 23:59 EST on August 31st. After the event begins, you can make up to five swaps. If you think there's a good reason to drop a game entirely without swapping (like your console broke or the game got damaged beyond repair), message me. Changing games due to a release date delay does NOT count as a swap. If you want to add more games to your list or want to continue after finishing your list, you can add games to your list up to the maximum. The object is not to just earn the platinum as applicable, but to reach 100% trophy completion for it. Existing DLC is included, but you will NOT have to complete any new DLC that's released during the challenge. 
• Eligible Games: Any game with trophies are eligible for the event, with a few exceptions. Two games can have a completion percentage of up to 50%, but the rest must be 33% or under. Unreleased games are fine as long as they're released and you buy them within the challenge's timeframe. Standalone DLC (like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy) is acceptable as long as it's not part of another trophy list. If it is (Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare for example), you have to also complete the other trophies. You can also do a game where 100% is unobtainable if you feel strongly about it, but you must complete all obtainable trophies. Individual episodes of a game that has separate trophy lists, such as in early Telltale games or Broken Sword on the Vita, count as a single game; therefore, Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse counts as 1 game, not 5. For this event, you may complete a game you have previously done for a different platform or region before the start of this event, but you may not do the same game multiple times during this event. Cross-saving a game for an easy completion will also be ineligible. This includes autopopping a cross gen game on PS5. If you want it on both, you have to do it legit. 
• Eligible Participants: Anyone is eligible to participate, provided you are serious about completing the games you say will. However, if you have flagged games on your PSNProfile, you are banned from participating unless you hide the games, get unflagged, or use a different profile. No cheating! Also, if you change your PSN ID, please let me know so I can update you on the list. And if it's been a few days and I still haven't added you, either message me or @ me and I'll be sure to add you.

Anyway, I'm back and I would like to sign up this time.

I read it was considered the minimum games might change to 10 (it didn't, it's still 5) and I thought that would be a good number for me as I've been dragging my feet a bit.

So here's my list:

I don't have F1 2021 yet but I'm planning to pick it up in the next couple of weeks, definitely before the end of Aug. The Good Life should also release during this challenge, which I'm getting a copy of as a backer. I might add it or swap it in depending on how I'll be doing.

I was considering that, but decided against it. I won't rule it out for the future, but for now, still 5. Depending on what you choose, you could take months on a game. For example, someone could put The Elder Scrolls Online on their list.

I put my list together and I can't decide if I have bitten off more than I can chew, or if this is actually manageable given the amount of time we have for this challenge ?. I'm banking on the fact that the weather will slowly turn and make it more suitable for longer gaming sessions, plus I have a bunch of vacation left and I don't think 'normality' will be quite there this year in terms of going out and doing stuff comfortably. So all of that combines into more time for gaming! I'm also toying with the idea of streaming again which will also be an added motivator to get stuff done.

 

That being said though, while I have a pretty good idea on platinum length for Monster Hunter, Iceborne & Judgement - Hades & Dying Light 2 are more unknown quantities, so I might end up using my swaps this time around, but we'll see! I feel pretty confident right now. I have a side list of games that didn't make it, so there will definitely be no shortage of titles that I can swap out to within the challenge parameters.

 

All of the other titles are middle to low range platinums as far as I can see and a little more bitesize or manageable comparably. So i'm aiming on switching to those between the longer titles and whenever I need a little break. I like to keep that bit flexible so I can have a bit of spontaneity in the mix too . Really looking forward to this one!

I made a post about my backlog issues yesterday, see it here, so it would just make sense to jump in on this one.  Very likely potential that I will finish a couple of these games this month before the start window, but I'll leave them on here in case I delay their completion.
