Next update for me! Pretty good one albeit nothing finished.

 

Days Gone - carried on my progress with this and loving the whole concept. Very original in its approach so enjoyable. Not very trophy friendly at this point.

 

Need for Speed Payback - started this up. Beat a few league bosses and made my way through some of the story. Mainly realised I suck after years off so trying to work out how to play again.

 

Borderlands - added this in as me and my partner picked it up so why not. Got the 4 player trophy done last night so can make progress on this during the event.

 

Sims 4 - can't give a real update as I don't play it my GF does but she popped a few so it's progress ?

Update 7 - 

 

Hope everyone had a nice weekend! We are officially in spooky season! My favourite time of the year.

 

I finally made a good dent in the Judgment trophies over the weekend - all that's left now is one final side case which is the Amon 'secret' boss fight. Then I just need to grind some money out in Paradise VR/Poker to be able to complete the last few investment options and to buy some Skill Point drinks which will enable me to buy the last few skills. I'm not sure what they were going for with skill gain, but i'm almost at the very end of the game now with most things completed and I still need a fair amount of money and skill points. I'm assuming they want you to into NG+ and earn more there, but even then, that feels like a bad design choice.

 

It's a minor gripe really in an otherwise super enjoyable game. I'm almost at the Finale now and the story has been great for me so far. It's quite a monster as far as game time goes, so I might actually use one of my swaps later on and move Lost Judgment out. Not decided there yet, but with the final Legendary playthrough for Judgment, i'm going to be hitting the 90-100 hour mark i'm sure. We'll see how it goes I think.

 

I'm confident i'll be done with Judgment before the week is out so I can start making a proper dent in Tales of Arise which i have really neglected. I might jump into Kena:Bridge of Spirits or Psychonauts as well depending on how I feel. Far Cry 6 is out soon which i'm hyped for, but I have some staycation time coming up at the end of October, so I might leave that one until then.

Update #2

 

Kind of late night update. Been playing a variety of games. Just finished Lego Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin. I liked this version better than the Nindroids game. Also played more Kaze. Was able to get the Speedrun trophy and also some of the no damage boss fights. Played the new version of Catlateral Damage. I just need to finish some of the more grindy parts. Also am adding Avengers since I got a PS5. I was on the fence but hoping I can have a bug free trophy time. Liking the Kamala Khan story in single player. Hoping to plat this before Guardians comes out, but probably not realistic.

Did get some nice UR trophies in Elite Dangerous, but not going to add that one to the challenge. I wish I could find 3 people to wing up with, that's one of the trophies I would need. Others are very grindy.

A good week! I took a break from Dark Souls 3 and knocked out both Strider and NieR Automata. Playing a couple of more action-y games was a nice change of pace. I missed one large container during my Hard playthrough in Strider so I ended up doing a third run on Easy for that trophy. For Nier, I played on Easy and stuck to the main story, got to ending C, bought all the other trophies, then got the D and E endings. Took about 20 hours total. A fun way to revisit a game I love and finally get that platinum trophy. Also made a little more progress in the Curse and Rayman grinds. I played GT Sport too but no new trophies for this update.

 

For this week, I'll be going back to Dark Souls 3. The goal is to get the plat this week, but at the rate I play From games it may take 2 weeks. Plus the usual grinds, and maybe I'll start RE7 or Dead Space 2 to kick off spooky season.

I managed to clear 3 character runs in 4 days. Pumpkin Man almost went down earlier but ran out of extra lives as I did make it to the end boss. One or two more goes and he should be done. Then it is just 1HP mode in my way. 

 

In a quick update Pumpkin man was completed my next attempt. Only a 1hp run and no killing bats run left. Or maybe I should combine them but that would mean an extra headache trying to do both. Any thoughts?

When i was playing el shaddai I'm not pushing myself too hard except hard and extra mode if you so good on that game you can do that both or just enjoy the game relax you'll get that trophy in no time ???

I've been personally working on Tales of Symphonia, and with 35-ish hours in so far the jankiness of the old graphics has subsided. Have gotten all the characters now at one time or another. I'm sure the trophies will be slow in coming, but I'll get there. Had to remember the feeling of these older Tales games but now it's finally clicking.

End of week update:

 

Got surprised by work at the last second and sent to the field for medical coverage.  Missed out on a lot of time I had planned for, but tried to make up for it when I got back.

1. Dark Souls II - started at 50% --> currently at 71%  Finished out the Brume Tower area (was originally DLC) with a buddy this weekend, we're planning on hitting up the Frozen Eleum Loyce section next.  Still want to finish the Navlaan questline and Darklurker before continuing on to NG+, but I think once I crest that hill it'll be mostly auto-pilot as long as I don't forget where my NPCs are for their equipment questlines.
2. Spyro 2 - started at 19% -->   06SEP2021
3. Control - 13% --> Haven't touched it, yet.  Still haven't put together a plan for this one, but will do so after the next 100% completion.
4. FFVII - started at 10% -->  currently at 15%  Left off at trying to work the Barret affection glitch.  Don't know just how much I'm going to manage to get done this week, but this game is getting ready to become my main game to work on.
5. Berserk - started at 4% --> currently at 13%  Looking forward to getting back into the rampant slaughter-fest at the end of the work week.  Story mode and a Behelit hunt, then it'll be on to the Eclipse.

I wish work hadn't made such an uptick in tempo right after joining the event, but life happens.  I'll be taking about two weeks of leave around January, but I'll likely be working on my next set of five by then.

I used my five swaps a few days ago, but I can't download Gravity Rush on my Vita. I'm being hit with error C0-9250-6 which prevents PS+ titles from being downloaded. A few people here are having the same issue with no solution. If the issue can't be fixed anytime soon, can I possibly have a free swap to remove Gravity Rush?

I finished off Moons of Madness last month. It has 3 chapters, the 1st being the standout and then it dwindles slightly. It sounds strange to say, but it becomes predictably unpredictable which does make the story suffer a bit. I'm a bit of an analyst at heart so I ask "why?" quite a bit. "I'm going to explore alone." "WHY?" "This is now suddenly that." "WHY?" That being said, I had a good time with it. There's a lot of different gameplay elements; puzzles, stealth, running for your life. I did only pick it up because of a passion for astronomy but I was pleasantly surprised. It looks polished as well.

Oh dear, oh dear, Yooka-fecking-Laylee. I haven't even bothered to finish the game yet as I had a sulk over some of the collectables. I hate getting stressed out on bullshit bits of games and this looks like a prime candidate for that. The whole package would be quite enjoyable had some of the collectables been not so savage with the arse controls.  I'll leave this to chill for the time being, probably will swap it out eventually.

I'm loving Persona 5 Strikers, especially because it's an extension of the Persona 5 story. I didn't realise they retained the old characters, joy! I'm in the very early stages, there's a bit of a learning curve in the combat changes but I know I'm going to enjoy this throughout.

Other gaming bits; I finished the epilogue of RDR2. I won't be going for the plat because the 70+ gold medals are beyond me, but I may try and 100% the compendium at some point. I'm also attacking the DLC of Immortals: Fenyx Rising. I finished the trials one yesterday (sooooo many trials).

Long time no see!

 

The time off was well-earned - I meant to take a break after the Spring challenge but Fallout 4 wouldn't stop mocking me til I completed it, and after that I just kinda kept playing. Even in off times though, seems it's never far from the brain... at the airport I saw a bald man quietly walk into an office, seemingly unnoticed, and all I could think was "Don't think you're so slick 47, I know what you're up to!!" Of course I would've gone and investigated, but the wife's safety comes first.

 

September was a bit of a bust for me, but who cares - I needed that time off! Finished Scrabble, and was tempted to add that to the challenge but I cannot remember what my previous percentage was beyond it being under 50. Being as dull as I am, it was a surprisingly tough one! That hard AI is a prick, it's all "QUIXOTIC" and "ONOMATOPOEIA" back to back, and I'm like ".....cat."

 

More relevantly, I finished Afterparty, which I cannot recommend enough. A quick plat that definitely deserves for you to take your time with it - tremendously creative with hilarious writing and voice acting. You're in hell, and you have to beat Satan at drinking games to get out. Plus it's by the fine folks who made Oxenfree. Tellin ya man, if you see that shit cheap, snatch it up.

I did it!  I found a fix to glitched trophies for Maneater on PS5!  I can finally make the game complete, making it my 6th completion for the event!  Long story short, it requires you to create a guest account, earn the trophies, and then merge it with your psn.  I can at least be thankful that my trophies started glitching on me 2 hours in instead of on a full run.  Which meant that I had a blast just eating everything in sight.  Missed out on this one for PS+, so I've been wanting to get it done.

 

I also completed Sly 1 for Vita.  Great game for vita and my first exposure to the franchise.  Levels are short and linear which makes them a perfect match for when I get to work 15 minutes early or when I have 20 minutes left on my lunch break.  Sly 2 has been very similar so far, so I look forward to completing all 4.

 

I've started Demon's Souls!  I thought about doing it on a guest account and then merge into my main account in case I couldn't get it done, but I felt like I just needed to dive in and go for it.  Having it on the list will keep me motivated to get through it.  So far, I'm 2 hours in, beat the first shield boss and having fun.  I am following a guide to help me get through it, but I am still enjoying the game so far.

Since several have asked, I’m gonna explain. A swap is when you change one title for another and you can do it five times max unless an exception is made. If you just add it to the list without changing titles, that isn’t a swap. All have to fall within the normal rules.

But, I think I'm gonna throw my hat in the ring for this challenge, as my backlog has become a rather massive behemoth, and I need someone to hold me accountable for actually killing it off, rather than adding to it....? (Seriously, it's become a problem...) I'm going to list 30 to start and then add in additional sets of 5 once those are complete. (for easy tracking on my end.) I earned a trophy in Mine my Mind and will go back to it when I feel the need to get the DLC trophies.

 

Lone Survivor is nearly finished, just trying to find a good way of getting the Blue Ending and then a quick last playththrough for the Plat.

 

True Fear I did finish after startimg it 4 years ago, so it was nice to see that disappear off the backlog. If they bring out the last part of the trilogy, then I will see how it ends.

It's great to see everyone making some really decent dents in all of their backlogs - I've enjoyed reading along through all of these, even if I have been doing it silently - you're all doing great. Keep it up!

 

Thoughts on Agents of Mayhem:

 

Thank goodness I've gotten Agents of Mayhem finished - that almost made me want to avoid playing video games entirely for a while - what a vapid hollow experience that game gives you.

 

I actually struggle to think of many games I've enjoyed playing less than that one - but hey, it's done now, again I'm so grateful for this event existing because I definitely don't think I would actually have bothered to finish otherwise

 

If you wanted to read my very frustrated and pretty scathing thoughts  about that game in more detail you can find them in the usual place here.....

 

Thoughts on Hue:

 

Whilst Agents of Mayhem was a dreadfully draining experience - Hue was exactly the kind of light and interesting puzzle experience that I needed to pick me back up and get me motivated again.

 

The visual style is thoughtful and strikingly unique - the way in which the puzzle elements are introduced gradually over time mean that you never really become overwhelmed by them.

 

It's a very fun time, that if you do have it in your backlog I'd recommend thinking about playing - it took me about 8 hours but that was with plenty of breaks so you could knock it out much faster - without missing any of the games nuance

Also @DFuzed - Thank you so much for bringing Procession to Calvary to my attention - I had no idea what that game was, but the first time I see that game go in sale I think I'm going to have to buy it - that sounds like some of my favourite things baked into one of my favourite types of video game. Another +1 for this awesome event!

 

 

I think I'm going to tackle Bastion next- it looks like none of the games I've got left are going to drive me to frustration like Agents of Mayhem did (I mentioned I didn't like it right??) so onwards and upwards as they say!! Perhaps I'll add some I know will get to me, just to get them completed.... Y'know - to torture myself and such!

 

Keep cutting those backlogs down folks!

Good to hear your thoughts on AOM. I thought the concept was quite good but the repetition drove me insane. Every mission just had a Legion lair to do again and again. Then the idea of online contracts with no online play was absurd and that one trophy made me dislike it myself.
