Popular Post BeesTrophies
Hello and welcome to my digital trophy notebook! I've been inspired by the various other trophy checklists and decided to make my own. I got my first Playstation in 2015 and while I had a few platinums under my belt prior I actually didn't start trophy hunting until 2019 and I've loved it ever since. And since this is my original account I can't obtain a 100% competition but I do want to set goals for myself that add personal challenge and interesting obstacles as I play games. So lets begin...This thread will track the following goals: Reach 200 platinums Remove all E ranks from my profile: whether it results in a platinum or not is irrelevant. Eventually reach 150 Ultra Rare trophies Reach and maintain a 85%+ completion rate Eventually have a profile consisting of S and A ranks only Theres no time limit for these goals and I'll probably update the thread with yearly goals I want to hit. Any input from the community is greatly appreciated! Game Cabinet Pre-Trophy Hunting (2015-2018) Spoiler 2019 Spoiler 2020 Spoiler 2021 (so far...) BeesTrophies
146- Nickelodeon Kart Racers Difficulty: 2/10 Enjoyment: 2/10 Hardest Trophy: N/AMost Fun Trophy: N/A Thoughts: If you don't know me personally then let me start off with the fact that I love little kart racers. Janky ones, good ones, weird ones. They bring me back to my childhood bedroom of sitting on the floor and playing Mickey's Speedway USA on the N64. So any chance I can get to grab one for cheap and play it I will and that is exactly what I did with Nickelodeon Kart Racers. Unfortunately it was a game that had me wondering when it was going to end more than it had me recounting fun memories as a kid. While the game is easy enough it severely lacks content. There is no voice acting, and generic background music. The game itself has very few courses to race, and since the platinum requires you to complete all 9 Grand Prix Cups three times (easy, normal, hard) the game became repetitive very fast. I think the biggest disappointment for me was that none of the cups really were that different from each other, again due to the fact that they reuse the same courses over and over again. Some of the trophies were buggy, for me the trophy SLIME ATTACK (take down at least 3 opponents in a single race) didn't pop until I was well over the halfway mark to the platinum, even though I had taken out several opponents in the various Cups up until that point. Luckily though nothing needed to be deleted/reset, it just appears what the game tracks/counts towards the trophies is slightly off. While I played this to break up and change the pace of the every grindy Assassin's Creed Valhalla, this game failed to hit the simple low bar of letting me feel like a kid again and instead kept me thinking "is it over yet"
Popular Post BeesTrophies
147- Dying Light Difficulty: 3/10 Enjoyment: 8/10 Hardest Trophy: N/AMost Fun Trophy: I'm a Runner and a Fighter Thoughts: Man, where do I even begin? I played this game back in 2015 pre-trophy days and decided to go back to clean it up upon the announcement of the sequel. I knew there were co-op trophies I'd need to I asked two good friends of mine if they wanted to join me in replaying this game (I also didn't have my save file from 2015 so this meant replaying the entire story in order to unlock all areas and access all side quests) Luckily they said yes because playing with friends made this game more enjoyable and a more laidback experience. The trophy list is pretty standard, complete the story, complete all side quests (51 total), kill infected in various ways and scoop up collectibles. The difference in playing with friends vs playing solo is efficiency. For example, if a side quest required the player to collect something, two of us went out while one stayed next to the quest giver. This made finding the items faster (two sets of eyes are better than one) and then once the items were collected the person next to the quest giver can unlock fast travel for the other two, saving time running from one location to the next. On top of being more efficient, experiencing this game with two friends resulted in way more laughs then I ever had playing solo in 2015. Having someone see or experience the same visual bug as you lends to overall enjoyment rather than frustration. Because lets face it, this game does still have bugs. They're minor and none affected our core progression but they were still bugs nonetheless. I didn't list a hard trophy above because there weren't any I really struggled with in terms of getting stuck or being challenged. I have yet to do the DLC so I'm sure that will change with the parkour events, but regardless the base game experience wasn't challenging for me. I did really enjoy I'm a Runner and a Fighter (Complete 15 Agility or Power Challenges) These weren't difficult either as you had the flexibility to pick and choose which ones you did. I really enjoyed doing them though because they took the parkour aspects of this game to a new level. They were short and sweet, and since I had completed them post game I was levelled up enough nothing posed a challenge, even the ones marked "hard". Overall I had a great time with this game, mostly due to the company I had along the way. The only reason this game doesn't get a 10/10 for enjoyment is I found some parkour aspects annoying in the beginning and 51 side quests of a repeated pattern became exhausting towards the end. I also found myself every once in awhile getting motion sickness from the first person view while parkouring, but this was under very specific circumstances. We also ended up completing it in 30 hours (according to my in game playtime stats and PS5 stats) which is 20 hours faster than the guide states. I can almost guarantee again this was because having more than one player made fetch quests extremely efficient, considering we watched the story cutscenes. I definitely recommend this one for anyone looking for a good times with a few friends. I can't wait for the sequel so I can dive back in and share a few more laughs. Thanks to @VigilantCrow and @Lawless_Llama for always being the best co-op partners. I can't wait for the sequel with you and to many more game adventures

Popular Post BeesTrophies
148- Life is Strange: True Colors Difficulty: 1/10 Enjoyment: 9/10 Hardest Trophy: N/AMost Fun Trophy: N/A Thoughts: Although by no means a hard platinum or lower rarity there's something about the Life is Strange universe that continues to pull me in every time. Maybe its the down to earth characters, maybe its the charm of a small quiet town, maybe its the way in which the stories unfold and the control the player has over how much or little information they get...perhaps its a combination of all these things. Going into True Colors I was excited but hesitant, I hadn't enjoyed Life is Strange 2 as much as I would have hoped and another one meant the possibility for disappointment. Boy I'm glad that wasn't the case. True Colors is probably the most grounded LiS game to date. You play as Alex Chen who has the ability to see, feel and even alter the strong emotions of other people around her. She moves to a new town full of new people as she navigates a new chapter in her life. This beautiful town of Haven Springs is an idealistic community that is grounded by its character's relationships to each other. The world, although still in the previous entries artistic style, is more beautiful than ever. And this time around my decisions felt more impactful than previous titles, not in the obvious sense but in subtleties, in things I didn't do that I didn't know were options, small blink of an eye moments much like life. In all honestly playing as a character who's 'superpower' was empathy, while being aware of today's outside cries for exactly that, felt honest and warm. In terms of trophies its a pretty standard list for the franchise. Complete the story and get collectibles. Luckily this time around they added tiny side quests that made the Life is Strange world a little fuller. True Colors also learned from its predecessors and released all the the episodes at once while also shortening their length slightly. Two minor complaints I had involve spoilers so click at your own risk: Spoiler 1. I played my Alex as being romantically attracted to women. In fact very early on in the game it straight up asks you your preference in the form of a casual conversation with Steph. I chose women and as the episodes continued I decided to romance Steph in any way the game allowed me to, while deflecting passes made towards me by Ryan. So I was a little thrown off when in a later episode the game reminded me in a key relationship commitment moment that I could chose to give a rose to Steph or Ryan. Its a minor complaint but a very personal one that felt a little "oh...ummm okay?" in a series that has been pretty LGTBQ friendly. Again just something small that I wanted to point out. 2. Its revealed at the end that Alex's father was left to die in the mines by one of the townsfolks. I've been told that there is evidence in the game that hints at Gabe (Alex's brother who brought her to Haven Springs) following their dad's trail that led to the town, unfortunately I personally missed this. Regardless of that story note it just felt too on the nose, for a game that had been incredibly grounded up until this point for me. Because, while their history with their parents is a large part of their backstory its not the whole story, and it have that been the ultimate twist ending- in an ending that already gave us a twist- it felt tacked on and not needed. Aside from that the game ran really well on my PS5. I ran into two minor hiccups: a T-pose in a transition scene for 0.2 seconds and the final "montage" had still images of the next frame loading in before the actual animation. I loved this game, I can't wait for the DLC Wavelengths coming out at the end of Sept, as my interactions with Steph were by far my favorite part of the story. Spoiler The entire LARP episode made my nerdy DND heart very giddy. Its the top 3 best moment I've had gaming this year so far. If you're a fan of any of the Life is Strange games and fell off somewhere along the way or perhaps are on the fence about this one I promise you it lives up to and beyond the Life is Strange name. BeesTrophies
149- Dirt 5 Difficulty: 3/10 Enjoyment: 4/10 Hardest Trophy: Stuntmasta' (Score 30,000 or higher in a Career Gymkhana event)Most Fun Trophy: N/A Thoughts: This is going to be a short one. I have never played a Dirt game and thought I would dive in considering I have access to it through EA Play. While the art was bold and bright everything else fell flat. 125 Career Events that need to be completed and very little variety. While most will say a lot of racing games don't provide variety this felt extremely thin. Needless to say I should have known and will not be touching another Dirt game in the future. To add salt to the wound this game has DLC which I will never clean up because its just the base game repackaged again....I cannot justify spending more money on the same content. There really isn't much more to say unfortunately.
Popular Post BeesTrophies
150- Assassin's Creed Valhalla Difficulty: 3/10 Enjoyment: 2/10 Hardest Trophy: Completionist All the Way! (Complete all territories)Most Fun Trophy: N/A Thoughts: Have you ever been playing a game, doing the trophies, and think to yourself *why am I doing this?* That was me for most of this game. Having only played Origins and Odyssey I was really excited for the new entry in the Assassin's Creed RPG trilogy. The setting was up my alley and I couldn't wait to explore the vast world on my PS5. But that was ultimately the issue with this game: it was too large. Ubisoft's biggest enemy is their own ambition and yet the lack of it at the same time, allow me to explain. This game has close to 800 collectibles in the base portion. This story is close to 40 hours but the platinum is 100+. This is 60ish hours of complete filler content that adds no real substance to the game. I don't even know where to begin to compile all my thoughts and my experience with this game so I'm going to break down what I felt were the pros and cons of my experience with this game: Pros The raids were a blast. I enjoyed calling on my fellow warriors and going into battle, I wish there had been more of these interactions, although admittingly there were a good amount. I give kudos to Ubisoft for attempting diversity within the types of collectibles you were chasing: not just items but there were cairns, side quests and beasts to slay. Granted this wasn't executed in the best way. (more on that in the cons) The main core of the story wasn't terrible again the execution was the breaking point. Cons Too much of nothing. While the core story had potential the way the game gets you to those satisfying moments are anything but enjoyable. Forcing several side quests between major story beats ultimately inflated the length and had me actually having to look up things that happened during the game towards the end because it was 70 hours of gameplay ago and I frankly couldn't remember. There was no indication of what was a main quest and what was a side quest in the UI (unless I missed this in 110 hours of gameplay??) Quests are broken down by region but unlike Odyssey I didn't see a symbol or anything to indicate to the player what should be priority. This ultimately lead me to spending over an hour doing a questline I thought was something I needed to do to progress and didn't. Collectibles and 100% regions once again takes far too long for no pay off. These collectibles add nothing of value to the game and theres close to 800 of them...while I gave kudos for the attempt at diversity in the Pro section at the end of the day running around for 800 items is exhausting. Cairns while a good idea on paper were frustrating at times (there was one I spent 30 minutes on, this could purely be chalked up as a singular personal experience but I doubt it) SO MANY BUGS. Oh my god. I quite literally encountered a bug every hour of playing this game. That is roughly 100ish bugs and/glitches.100. And this is me NOT counting small issues that most games have these days. I'm referring to: main quest NPCs not moving to forward the quest thus having me reload a previous save, Me falling randomly into the environment and then dying, getting teleported to a random spot like the SKY or into a structure and not being able to fast travel out thus again having to load a previous save. (See video I've linked for some of my encounters as I didn't hit capture on most of them but did grab a few) Needless to say I've officially experienced the Ubisoft burnout. I have two more games I own that I will be completing and then I don't think I have it in me to continue to give this company my money. This is the first issue I've had with their games but it will be the last. If Ubisoft would shrink these games then they could potentially have something here. Problem is there’s too much filler for the sake of having filler. Decrease these storylines to 15-20hours and add an additional post story open world content around 20-30 hours if you want. You do NOT need a 100 hour game for this. Bigger isn't always better. I cannot stress enough how much I didn't enjoy my time with this game. It nearly broke me lol I hope for people out there had a better time than I did. Heres a video with some of the issues I encountered so just multiply this video by roughly 100 and you have my experience with Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
rjkclarke
Although I read your AC: Valhalla review yesterday - which is awesome by the way, I had to go do something before I could leave a comment. I just wanted to say that this On 16/10/2021 at 2:43 PM, Beth Medusa said: Ubisoft's biggest enemy is their own ambition and yet the lack of it at the same time is one of the most accurate appraisals I've ever seen of Ubisoft - scarily so in fact. I really ought to play AC: Odyssey, but one of my friends, who was a really big fan of Origins, said it was just a whole bunch filler, and empty collectible hunting - having not played it yet I can't truly judge, as I've only gotten to Origins in the recent RPG trilogy. From what you've said Valhalla just doubles down on that problem - which is a real shame, because they ask such a huge time commitment of you, and if you're going to be spending most of that time bored out of your skull, it's tough to get yourself motivated for it, I'd imagine Congrats on pushing through and getting it done though!

Then if I really feel like it, pick up Valhalla in about ten years when all the DLC has been released, and all the bugs have been patched out ?........ Oh wait that's Ubisoft we're talking about - there's much more chance of seeing a flock of flying pigs go sailing by, but we can dream right? I've heard more good things than bad things about Odyssey though, so you might have swung that one for me a little bit I saw Abzu is in your backlog by the way (was in mine for years too actually). I played that myself, yesterday, I thought that was a great little time, doesn't take longer than about three hours either, it's super relaxing too, so if Valhalla burned you out at all, that might take the edge off, so to speak.

BeesTrophies
151- It Takes Two Difficulty: 2/10 Enjoyment: 10/10 Hardest Trophy: Platforming Prodigy (Helltower? More like hello-from-up-here-tower!)Most Fun Trophy: Power Couple (You are unstoppable, nothing stands in your way!) Thoughts: Please find someone to play this game with, preferably someone you know well. I haven't had this much fun and relaxation playing a game in a long time. Every level was crafted to feel unique and I never felt bored or as if things were being repetitive. The puzzles aren't difficult so you can play with someone in your life that isn't big into games. The way the teamwork was crafted was both hilarious and clever. One of my favorite chapters early on had each player carrying different weapons that when combined would open new paths and kill enemies. Another level had us exploring various parts of a kid's room, the imagination seeping through every inch of my screen. It was funny, it was clever and at times it was touching. I could say more but I don't want to. I truly think everyone should go into this game as blind as they can. I will say no trophies are missable you can pick up things post game in chapter select. The game isn't difficult but the reason I listed Platforming Prodigy as the hardest trophy was because my depth perception is very questionable and when you mix that with platforming up a tower that has various moving and spinning pieces ...it can take awhile. But please please please do not let the trophy percentage stray you from this game, or the fact that its co-op. Find someone in your life to give this a go with and remember they have the friend pass so you only need one copy of the game! (unless both want to earn trophies then you need two full copies) This was one of those games that reminded me that games can be goofy and relaxing without becoming childish or boring. I'm looking forward to replaying chapters again with other friends and family members.
