'Mowing Them Down' trophy - do I need DLC?

The guide says that a good way to farm 500 kills with a mounted weapon is in the Undead Nightmare trophy but I was wondering if it was possible to farm this on the vanilla disc, perhaps via mission replay? This is assuming the DLC isn't free. I just finished the main story.

You can get it in base game. 

Go to El Matadero, there is a house that has a gatling gun on the roof. 

This way takes more time than the DLC, if I remember 3 or 4 hours, since there are very few persons that walks in the city. If you manage to get a high bounty it will go faster since the bounty hunter will come in the city to get you. Be sure to save from time to time because if you die you will lose the kills.

Undead Nightmare is a premium DLC so has to be bought and paid for if you want to play it. As above, this trophy is doable in the main game (it's required for the Plat after all) but it takes forever to get if you don't have the DLC.

you could do it online if you like to. el presidio just rack up a wanted level in there then get on mounted  gun by front door

This is how I did it. Got the trophy back in July.

With El Matadero as well, the horses count.  So kill riders + horses.
