Messknecht
Its actually possible to play Quake 64, it has to be activated in the main menu. - choose add ons - choose download - choose activate - back out, start a new game, play Quake 64 seems like its a filter to get a nostalgic 90ies experience of the game. This is just FYI, I didnt try if N64 cheatcodes work, or if trophies pop when activated, etc.
cenorexia
It's not just a filter, the maps are also slightly different (and some are missing, like it was back then). The models are not the N64 models though it seems. And some weapon sounds (for example the thunderbolt) also seem to be different. ceno
Jakkal_SWE
It's not an easter egg, it's a mod/addon officially acknowledged by iD - hence possible to download. They did something similar with both Doom and Doom II, popular mods possible to download via Addons menu. As far as I know trophies are disabled when running addons. BOOTP
Downloaded this on release as remember playing back in the day. It's enough of a different port to warrant a look for those interested. Looks to be straight emulation of the N64 ROM so graphics obviously not as good as the normal game under the KEX Engine. drlight66
Is the music changed to the N64 soundtrack, which had a completely brand new soundtrack different from the PC version?
